Abstract

The corkscrew (13) is pivoted to the middle of a U-section metal body (10) with a knife blade (12) at one end and a thrust arm (15') at the other to press against the edge of the bottle neck while the cork is being withdrawn. The thrust arm has an additional inner sliding member (15) with an end recess (17), actuated by a cam surface (28) on the end of the handle so that it is extended automatically as the cork is withdrawn from the neck of the bottle. The sliding member is spring-loaded so that it returns to its original position inside the thrust arm after use.

Description

The present patent application consists, as indicated in the description, of a "IMPROVED CORKSCREW", including the news construction characteristics, conformation and design fulfill the mission for which it was specifically screened, with maximum security and efficiency.

There are on the market, so they can be considered a state of the art, corkscrews such as those described and claimed by utility model no. 260.177, by the same owner, relating to a conventional type corkscrew, commonly called "sommelier", which includes a handle metallic whose line is a U-shaped section and whose one of the articulated ends has an arm foldable, also in U-shaped section, arranged for lean on the neck of the bottle, while on an intermediate point of this handle we have applied the classic spin which takes either a position of work, in which it protrudes in direction orthogonal, either in a rest position, in which it is folded back on itself.

To complement the above, this corkscrew includes a small penknife, hinged at the opposite end of the handle, intended to facilitate the sealing operations and uncapping; on the opposite end is mounted a crimper capsule bottle opener with a pair of equal side notches and placed face to face, with an appropriate shape, provided on the arm foldable and which make their use possible specific. This utility model has improved the so-called sommelier corkscrews in the sense that it provides a similar plastic body with elasticity characteristics, obtained in a process fully independent and located in the position of fit and fit onto said handle, allowing the free play of the elements which are articulated on it, fixing in position using the same rivets transverse; before what was determined it was the articulated fixing of these elements.

Then, also from the same owner, the model Tool No. 8901047 has been presented by "disposition applicable to corkscrews ", the improvements are mainly based on the fact of completely close the rear part of the sheath limiting the extension of the longitudinal opening that this presents, and eliminating the orifices corresponding to the position of the axes of two of the elements articulated that the utensil has. The use and sale of said corkscrews protected by said utility models has demonstrated that, in certain circumstances the combined work of the corkscrew and the folding arm with a U-shaped section, which has on its lateral branches notches at the ends placed face to face and suitable to facilitate pressing on the neck of the bottle, is not suitable for extracting said bottleneck the length of which exceeds the standard size, which makes that the spin works in an inclined position and that, when this plug is with half of its length out of the neck, the metal piece supported on its end ceases to fulfill the role of leverage by lack of length and it is then necessary to complete extract the length of the plug still located at inside the neck by applying excessive force without any type of support on the neck, which results in some cases the breakage of the plug or the outlet untimely of it and the overthrow of part of the liquid inside the bottle.

So extracting this type of large plugs length is difficult with corkscrews conventional by lack of length of the folding arm mentioned above, which functions as a lever in the body of the corkscrew.

To solve these types of problems, and to do so that only one corkscrew can work on caps of different lengths, we created this which is the subject of the present invention. It is a double effect corkscrew because it has two arms, one fixed and the other mobile and which allows the stopper or capsule all at once. It starts with act on the fixed arm and this is when arriving at an angle about 90º that the mobile support comes into action, which produces an elongation of the arm, until obtaining complete extraction of the plug from the upper part from the neck of the bottle.

When you stop applying force, your arm mobile folds inside the fixed arm using the means that have been designed to make this possible. Said double effect is obtained with a folding arm designed so that it is sliding and allows unfold, because a metal part has been placed at inside the other, which can slide at inside the first, the appropriate means having were provided at the sole basis of it, such as a closed groove and another open, with rivet matching and a spring between the two pieces metal forming the arm.

Other details and features of the current patent application will be underlined during the description which is given below, in which reference is made to the drawings which are attached to this brief and in which, so somewhat schematic, the details are represented favorite. These details are given by way of example and are refer to a possible case of practical realization but which is not limited to the details set out; this description should therefore be considered from a point of view illustrative and without any kind of limitations.

Figure 1 is a front elevational view of the improved corkscrew (10), on which we can see its main elements: a molded body (11), a penknife (12), a spin (13) and the folding arm (15 ').

Figure 12 is a perspective of the corkscrew (10) in the working position in which the arm (15) comes out from inside (15 ') to get a longer one lever arm when the spin (13) extracts a plug the neck (33) of a conventional bottle.

In one of the favorite achievements of what makes the subject of this request, and as shown in the Figure 1, the corkscrew (10) presents known a penknife (12) in the upper part of the body molded (11), which has an empty area (18) for be able to store these pocket knives (12) in the rest position, however that on the opposite part of this body (11) is finds the twist (13) which, in the storage position, is housed inside a large closed area (11a) which ends at the extreme point (19). The metal part (15 ') is connected, as indicated in figure 1, with the sheath (11) through the rivet (16), which is inserted inside the hole (25), of the body (20).

The room (15 ') which houses the room (15) allows (15) to slide through the first (15 ') and the interior thereof by means of a rivet (26) which secures (15) to (15 ') using the groove (15a), see figures 8, 9 and 10, laying out the base (15'b) of (15 ') with an open groove (15'c). Under normal working conditions, when wish to extract a capsule or a stopper (34) from the inside of the neck (33) of a conventional bottle with standard dimensions, we work in a known way with the part (15) fully housed and stored inside (15 '), however, if it is a plug (34) of greater length is caused by a simple pressure of the edge (28) on the end (29) of (15) and with the collaboration of the rivet (26) and the groove (15a) an increase in the length of (15 '), (15) leaving its interior and being able to count on a greater lever arm length with which compensate for the longest course of the spin (13), while this is done gradually and training thus the so-called "double effect", that is to say that with a same corkscrew it is possible to extract the corks standard measures and others of greater length than the former; in the end, we gathered on a same corkscrew two complementary effects, a first effect is that the part (15) is stored at the interior of (15 ') and (15') rests on the neck (32) through the notches (17) and a second effect is that the part (15) moves from the inside of (15 ') outwards using the spring (30), all representing a way to have a length additional lever arm, to compensate for the most long length of the plug (34) to be extracted.

The other elements that form the corkscrew (10) and which have been described in Figure 1 present the same functions as on previous models of the same holder.

As shown in Figure 2, the sheath (11) is presents as a known form whose configuration is substantially U-shaped, and as can be seen in the figure # 3, with wings at the ends of which are ledges placed face to face (23), while in the upper part an empty area (18) is delimited so that the penknife (12) can remain concealed and protected by the sheath (11).

On the upper part of the sheath (11) is a groove (14), see figure nº 1, which allows the corkscrew (10) to work in functions crimp cap extractor and the like, pressing the corkscrew (10) in the area of (14) and taking the place lever on the crimp cap, fitting the edges groove (14); this has a beneficial effect because the corkscrew can work so that the user only needs one hand, avoiding him so having to use the other hand to unfold (15 ') and open crimp caps with the profile interior of (15 ') as required for other corkscrews on the market.

The double-acting action of the corkscrew (10) is both with progressive effect, that is to say, as as shown in Figures 11 and 12, it remains only limited to two types of plugs (34), but also to those whose lengths are intermediate, the length of the folding arm adapts to the length the traffic jam.

As shown in Figure 4, the corkscrew (10) comprises in its known form a body (20) provided with holes (18), (21) and (22) to immobilize the pin (16) inside the hole (18) and allow gyration of the metal part (15 '), the hole (21) which allows the gyration of the spin (13) and the hole (22) for the gyration of the penknife (12).

The present patent having been sufficiently described in correspondence with the attached plans, it is understood that all modifications of detail deemed appropriate may be introduced thereon, on the condition of not altering the essence of the patent which is summarized in the claims.

Claims (5)

"PERFECTED CORKSCREW" from those we called sommelier and who have a body preferably metallic (20) which acts as an element resistant to the main elements of the corkscrew (10), such as a penknife (12), a spin (13) and an arm foldable (15 ') with bottle opener functions crimp capsules attached to this body (20) through a pin (16) inserted into the hole (18) of (20), another rivet inserted into the hole (21) and a third rivet inserted into the hole (22), for the joint of the penknife (12), this body (20) being covered with a sheath (11) provided in its part upper part of a groove (14), however, than in its lower part is a large closed area (lla), the penknife (12) deploying by turning around the hole (22), the spin (13) can thus deploy in rotating around the hole (21) and the bottle opener (15 ') deploy by turning around the hole (18) and the rod (16), another characteristic being that the arm folding (15 ') with lever function is formed by a base plane (15a) from which perpendicularly emerge wings (15b), a groove (15'c) lying on the base (15'a) of (15 '), another room (15) whose configuration is identical but of less width that the base and provided with a longitudinal recess (27) sliding inside (15 '). "IMPROVED CORKSCREW" characterized according to the 1st claim by the fact that the folding arm (15'-15) increases in length by turning (15 ') in the counterclockwise, the edge (29) of (15) along the perimeter (28) of the sheath (11) which forces (15) to leave (15 '). "IMPROVED CORKSCREW" characterized according to the previous claims by the fact that the arm (15) has a groove (15a) on the base (15b) for the fitting of a rivet (26) guiding (15) inside of (15 '). "IMPROVED CORKSCREW" characterized according to previous claims by the fact that basically lever (15) on which a recess line (27) has been arranged, a spring (30) has been placed which, on the position of (15-15 ') minimum elongation is compressed, however only in the elongated position maximum it is fully dilated. "IMPROVED CORKSCREW" characterized according to previous claims by the fact that one of ends of the spring (30) is in contact with the stop (31) of the recess (27), while the other end exerts pressure on the tab (24) of the arm (15).
