Abstract

The fuel economiser (1) comprises a housing (3) which fits round the fuel feed pipe (2), made from a neutral material, and contains a number of magnets (4). The magnets are designed to create a symmetrical magnetic field which transforms para-hydrogen molecules in the fuel into ortho-hydrogen molecules. The magnetic field is created by at least two permanent barium ferrite magnets with inverse poles and axial magnetisation; they are cylindrical in shape and have their axes in line with a plane passing through the centre of the fuel pipe. A variant of the design contains electromagnets which emit a magnetic field varying with the volume of fuel passing through the feed pipe.
