Abstract

Device for opening bottles with natural corks. The device may include a bottle rest to be laterally positioned around a neck of the bottle to encircle a mouth of the bottle on three sides and from above and below the mouth, a holding tongue downwardly extending from the bottle rest adapted to be positioned adjacent the bottle neck, and a cork holder to hold a head of the cork on three sides and from above and below the head of the cork. The cork holder may be movably mounted in the bottle rest, and a lever may be rotatably mounted to the bottle rest, such that rotational movement of the lever provides relative movement between the bottle rest and the cork holder. The cork holder may be pivotably mounted around a rotational axis of the bottle rest at an upper end of a lifting motion, such that the rotational axis runs perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the bottle and is positioned eccentrically at a level of a bottle opening. The lever may include a stop mechanism to define the upper end of the lifting motion and a curved deaeration track arranged such that, during rotation of the lever, the cork holder rotates around the rotational axis under the pressure of the cork.

Description

The invention relates to a device for opening bottles with natural corks, preferably of champagne bottles according to the features in the preamble of claim 1.

Numerous devices with these features are known.
A device is known from US Pat. No. 2,761,338 in which a holder is pushed laterally onto the bottle neck.
US Pat. No. 4,527,450 shows a further device which can be pushed laterally onto the head of the cork protruding from the bottle, the cork being able to be pulled out by means of a pull lever.
European patent specification 0164955 describes a further device with which the cork is pulled out of the bottle by means of a pivoting lever which is mounted in a part to be stopped on the bottle. Finally, a device is known from European patent specification 0291546, which contains all the features of the preamble of claim 1.

With these known devices, it is certainly possible to cork very well to pull out of the bottle. However, it is a disadvantage of these devices, that the bottle cannot be opened in a controlled manner, i.e. the cork will vary depending on the pressure and temperature of the bottle with a slight or strong bang solve with the result that very much of the sparkling wine dissolved "carbon dioxide" is pulled out of the bottle, causing foaming can lead and also affects the taste of the sparkling wine.

The invention is based, so bottles with natural cork the task to open that the excess pressure can be reduced in a controlled manner.

This object is achieved in that the cork holder (the component that holds the cork) at the top of its stroke by one Axis of rotation of the bottle support (the component to be stopped on the bottle) can be pivoted, the axis of rotation perpendicular to the bottle axis runs and is positioned off-center at the bottle opening, that the lever has a stop on which the cork holder on strikes the upper end of its stroke and that the lever has a vent curve contains, which is arranged such that when turning the Lever the cork holder under the pressure of the cork around the axis of rotation the bottle support can rotate.

The great advantages of the device are that bottles with natural corks are not only easy to uncork, but also a pop of the Cork and thus a sudden escape of the "carbon dioxide" dissolved in the sparkling wine is avoided and that its handling is very simple and comfortable is.

The device according to the invention consists of the bottle support 1, the cork holder 2 and the lever 3, which are connected at the top and bottom with two bolts 4, 5 each. At least one tension spring 6 is suspended between the bottle support 1 and the cork holder 2 and initially holds the device in the starting position.
The bottle support has a c-shaped fillet 1a, which is designed in diameter and cross-section so that it can be pushed laterally from its open side onto the mouthpiece of a champagne bottle. Their cross-sectional contour is designed so that the mouthpieces of standard sparkling wine and sparkling wine bottles can be held up and down.
For better sliding on the mouthpiece of the bottle, insertion bevels 1b are provided on the open side.
On the closed side of the c-shaped fillet 1a, the bottle support continues downward in a retaining web 1c, which is preferably adapted to the curvature of the bottle neck and comes to rest against it.
The length of the holding web 1c is preferably chosen so that it ends in an area where the bottle neck does not yet make a strong curvature.
Two vertical parallel brackets 1d are formed on the side of the bottle support 1, each of which contains a lower hinge point 1e and an upper hinge point 1f.
Between these vertical brackets and the inner region of the c-shaped fillet 1a, two vertical gaps 1g are formed, into which two vertical webs 2a of the cork holder engage, which
in the starting position with a lower horizontal surface 2b on an upper horizontal surface 1h the bottle support comes to rest in the area of the c-shaped fillet 1a.
Over this contact surface, which comes to rest on the bottle to be opened exactly at the upper edge of the bottle mouthpiece and under the head of the cork, the cork holder 2 has a likewise c-shaped rounded portion 2c, which is located axially above that of the bottle support 1, after the same Side is open and its diameter and cross-section is designed so that it can be pushed laterally onto the head of the cork located in the bottle, with bevels 2d also being provided on the open side for better sliding.
The cork holder 2 is mounted in the bottle support 1 by means of the bolts 4 and 5, which are rigidly attached to the articulation points 1e and 1f and stand inwards, where they are displaceably mounted in the sliding guides 2e, f, g of the vertical webs 2a.
The sliding guides 2e and 2f extend vertically and have the same length. At the lower end of the guide 2f there is an arcuate guide 2g, the center of which lies in the lower guide point of the guide 2e.
In the rear area of the c-shaped rounded portion 2c of the cork holder, a semicircular opening 2h is formed from above, the size of which corresponds approximately to that of a thumb. It makes it easier to remove the pulled-out cork from the cork holder.
The cork holder 2 is moved relative to the bottle support 1 via two cylindrical pins 2i which extend laterally from the cork holder and which extend laterally through and beyond the parallel holders 1d, the holders 1d being recessed in the range of movement of the pins 2i.
These two pins 2i laterally engage in guide curves of the lever 3, which is essentially U-shaped, is rotatably attached to the articulation points 1f, and extends in a plate shape on the outside next to the brackets 1d.
The guide curves are contained in axially aligned fashion in both plates and are divided into stroke curve 3a, stop 3b, vent curve 3c, swivel curve 3d, curve 3e, which overlap with one another.
Between the bottle support 1 and the cork holder 2, at least one tension spring 6 is suspended on the side of the c-shaped fillet, which, depending on the position of the lever, holds the device in the starting position, in the final opening position or in the folded state.

The operation of the device according to the invention is as follows:
The device is best stored folded up. The pins 2i lie in the curve 3e and the lever 3 is in an essentially parallel position to the retaining web 1c.
The tension spring 6 holds the device in the folded state.
If the lever 3 is pulled, the pins 2i slide along the curve 3e and through the force of the tension spring into the lifting curve 3a up to the stop point 3f. In this position the device is in the starting position, the surfaces 1h and 2b lie on top of each other and the device can be pushed sideways onto the bottle with cork.
Then you grasp the bottle with one hand on the bottle neck so that you simultaneously hold the retaining bridge 1c and hold it.
With the other hand you can then press the lever 3, which in the starting position preferably extends upwards at a small angle to the horizontal, comfortably downwards, the cork holder 2 with the cork moving through the flat position of the lifting curve 3a to the direction of movement The cork holder is released from its initial position under slight pressure and the lever can then be turned more and more easily under the increasing counter pressure of the cork until the force is completely reversed and the cork is pressed out of the bottle by the internal pressure. The lever moves further until the pins 2i emerge from the lifting curve 3a and come to rest against the stop 3b. This is arranged radially to the pivot point 1f. The cork holder 2 is in its uppermost position at the stop. A safety edge 3g prevents the lever from turning further down. Their position is such that the hand cannot be pinched between the lever and the bottle.
To finally uncork the bottle completely, it must be vented. In this exemplary embodiment, the venting curve 3c adjoins the stop 3b in such a way that the venting takes place by turning the lever in the opposite direction, the pins 2i entering the venting curve 3c under the pressure of the cork. The ventilation curve decreases radially towards the fulcrum of the lever 1f. As a result, the cork holder rotates under the pressure of the cork when the lever is rotated about the axis of rotation 1e and the cork is pressed over the edge of the bottle opening and detaches from the bottle opening on the opposite side. The overpressure escapes.
The slower and more sensitive the venting process is, the more controlled the air escapes.
As an additional aid for slow venting, shafts 3h can be provided on the venting curve 3c, the inner radii of which essentially correspond to the radius of the pins 2i. So you can move the cones from shaft to shaft and slowly vent the bottle. If the bottle is completely vented, the lever is turned further and the pivoting curve 3d pivots the cork holder with the cork away from the bottle opening into the end opening position, in which the tension spring 6 then holds the cork holder 2. In this position the device can be removed from the bottle and the cork removed from the cork holder.
The device can then be folded up again.
