Abstract

A warning device including a metal housing (1) sealed with a flexible metal membrane (2) secured to a plunger (6). The inside of the housing (1) comprises a coil (5) with an air gap into which the plunger (6) may be inserted, and a breaker (7) having an upper arm (8) and a lower arm (9) with mutually contacting contact portions (11, 12). The breaker is attached to the housing (1) by means of a rivet (13) and a ring-shaped varistor (21) around the rivet is fitted between the arms (8, 9) of the breaker (7). A shoulder on the plunger (6) is engageable with the contact portion (12) of one arm (9) and supports an insulating washer (23). The interfering signal generated by the electric arc whenever the contact portions (11, 12) are opened may thus be controlled. In use, said audible warning device has no adverse effect on the electronic equipment of the vehicle.

    Claims (5)

    1. Audible warning device with incorporated anti-interference device comprising, inside a metal casing (1) which is closed by a flexible membrane (2) which is integral with a solenoid plunger (6), a coil (5), inside which the solenoid plunger (6) can be introduced, and a contact breaker (7) whose upper (8) and lower (9) arms are insulated in order to come into contact only at their contact portions (11, 12), the contact breaker (7) being mounted on the casing (1) by means of a rivet (13) which is insulated from the envelope (1), and a varistor (21) which is mounted to suppress the interference signal generated by the electric arc produced every time the contact portions (11, 12) of the contact breaker (7) are opened, characterised in that the varistor (21) is in the form of a washer mounted on the body of the rivet (13), whilst being insulated therefrom, and urged between the two arms (8, 9) of the contact breaker (7), opposite the contact portions (11, 12), whilst making contact with each of the arms (8, 9).
    2. Audible warning device according to claim 1, characterised in that the washer forming the varistor (21) is insulated from the rivet (13) by an extension (22) of the casing (4) of the coil (5).
    3. Audible warning device according to claim 1 or claim 2, characterised in that the upper arm (8) of the contact breaker (7) is stiffened so that, during riveting, it is urged in a uniform and level manner against the face which is opposite the varistor (21).
    4. Audible warning device according to any one of claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the shoulder (20) of the solenoid plunger (6), which is intended to engage the lower arm (9) of the contact breaker (7) in order to separate from one another the contact portions (11, 12) thereof, carries an insulating washer (23).
    5. Audible warning device according to claim 4, characterised in that the insulating washer (23) is mounted in a recess (24) which is arranged in the solenoid plunger (6).
