Description

The present invention relates to a packaging envelope consisting of a film intended to be closed by two twists on the side and other of an article to be packaged as well as a method of packaging a article using such packaging.

In particular, the invention relates to the field of packaging of confectionery products.

Generally, confectionery products are packaged individually in a portion of pre-printed film of one size and of suitable form, which individually wrapped products which can in turn be packaged in bulk in a sachet packaging of an appropriate size. Typically, the article to first pack is completely wrapped in a serving of rectangular film and the envelope thus formed is closed by twists at two points located on either side of the article at wrap.

In the context of the present invention, the term "papillote" means result of the closure by stranding of said envelope.

An important problem at this level is that of retention of the foil. This retention can only be obtained price of a particular selection of the film used as a substrate, which must have appropriate mechanical characteristics such as that pliability or, in particular, a pronounced tendency not to return to its initial position after stranding said film.

In particular, this problem manifests itself during packaging articles of small size and of substantially round cross section such as that confectionery products such as candies, lollipops, barley sugars, fruit jellies, chocolate bars or even larger products such as bottles, rolls of coins, ...

As a solution, it is known to select substrates individuals known for their high foldability, such as paper paraffin or cellophane or synthetic films containing an appropriate amount of an additive increasing the foldability of said substrate.

This solution considerably limits the possibilities of choice of films used as packaging substrate and increases it considerably the cost.

We know on the market of packaging closed by papillotes which are produced from substrates beforehand coated with a heat seal coating. During the training of foil at the ends of the envelope containing the article to be packaged, we approach a heat source for a certain period of time at a temperature between approximately 120 and 160 ° C. Usually, it is the jaws performing the stranding that are heated, but it is also possible to blow hot air using of a tube of appropriate size on said papillotes, which has as a result the fusion of the heat sealing coating and the sealing of the foil thus formed during the cooling of said hot sealing coating.

Document GB-A-1096058 proposes a film with a coating of cold sealing which, after closing the envelope by stranding the papillotes, has excellent retention. This sealing coating to cold is in the form of two longitudinal strips located in the areas of formation of papillotes on either side of the item to be packaged.

By cold sealing is meant a sealing which takes place instantly by simple contact at a temperature between 0 and 50 ° C approximately. In reality, temperature is not a parameter critical of obtaining a seal with a coating of cold sealing and has practically no influence on the quality of the sealing obtained. We therefore carry out the sealing without a contribution of extra heat at room temperature the space in the what is the packaging unit is needed.

This method therefore allows the use of cheaper films and with better properties (rigidity, propensity to printing, aesthetic qualities) for packaging articles without restrictions on the shape or sensitivity to heat of said articles.

The object of the present invention is to provide a new packaging of the type with papillote closure which allows a better closure as currently known packaging, as well as a new packaging process.

To achieve this objective, the present invention provides a packaging envelope made of a film intended to be closed by two twists on either side of an article to be packaged, characterized in that the film has, on the inner side with respect to the article to be packing, a sealing plaster arranged in two strips transverse on either side of the article to be wrapped and extending parallel to an axis passing through the two twists.

Said sealer may be a cold sealer or a heat seal coating.

The film may also have two longitudinal strips sealing plaster extending on either side of the article to pack, perpendicular to said transverse bands in the papillote formation areas. These sealants can also be either cold sealing plasters or plasters heat seal. When the film substrate has low resistance to high temperatures and / or when the article to be packaged is sensitive to heat, especially chocolate products, cold seal coating deserves preference.

The heat seal coating can be a layer of PE (polyethylene) coextruded on OPP (oriented polypropylene).

As a cold sealing coating, we can consider adhesives pressure sensitive which are substances that are sticky permanently and that spontaneously adhere to the surface of most materials at the touch of a button moderate.

Generally, pressure sensitive adhesives are compositions based on natural and / or synthetic rubber associated with modified cellophanes, phenolformaldehyde resins or hydrocarbon resins (waxes). Besides the rubbers, polymers based on styrene are widely used, (meth) acrylic acid or vinyl ether, alone or as a mixture, also in combination with resins. Finally, we can still use silicone resins. Preferably, compositions comprising mixtures of natural rubbers and synthetic and copolymers of (meth) acrylic acid and styrene.

These cold sealing coatings are deposited on the substrate at a rate of approximately 1 to 5 g / m 2 . They can be applied as a solution, dispersion or even in the molten state. One can use plaster deposition techniques well known to those skilled in the art such as, for example, heliographic or flexographic printing or offset printing.

The invention also provides a method of packaging a article in a film comprising at least two transverse bands a sealing coating according to which the article is deposited on the film of the side of said bands and between them, there is substantially vertically the two panels which are provided with said plaster strips, we bring the two sides together above the article and seal their edge to edge, the two edges thus sealed are folded over the article and we screen the projections of the film projecting on either side of the article to form two twists.

When the plaster strips have a cold, the operation of folding and sealing the edges of the strips at above the article is preferably done in a single operation between the jaws of a press.

When the coating is a heat seal coating, the edges are sealed to each other by a heat sealing process.

The invention has the advantage that, for the first time, the packaging of the twist closure type is sealed in the direction transverse between the two twists. Since even packaging without longitudinal coating in the training areas papillotes, have a fairly good seal at the papillotes, completely closed packages are produced.

As for packages with longitudinal plaster zones hot or cold sealing, for which there is a closure waterproof at the papillotes, it is achieved thanks to the sealing transverse an almost hermetic closure. This total closure of the packaging is very advantageous as regards the conservation of the articles, since it prevents the penetration of humidity, gas, air or other harmful substances and, at the same time, retains the aromas inside the packaging.

  • la figure 1 montre schématiquement, une vue en plan, d'un premier mode de réalisation d'un emballage selon la présente invention;

The invention will be better understood on reading the description of some embodiments presented below, by way of illustration, with reference to the appended drawings in which:
  • Figure 1 schematically shows a plan view of a first embodiment of a package according to the present invention;
  • Figure 2 schematically shows a plan view of a second embodiment of a package according to the present invention;
  • FIGS. 3a, 3b, 3c and 3d show the successive sequences of packaging an article using a packaging according to the present invention;
  • Figures 4a, 4b, 4c and 4d show perspective views of the different packaging sequences;
  • Figures 5 and 6 show the sealing and folding of the package according to the present invention in the transverse direction parallel to the axis passing through the foils.

Figure 1 shows a film strip generally indicated by the reference 10 which is a film with good retention where only the stranding is sufficient to obtain a rigid foil which does not open, i.e. a substrate that does not require bonding coating to retain the twists. Such a film can, for example, be a film cellophane, cast PP film (cast polypropylene), paper waxed, aluminum / OPP lamination etc.

The film strip 10 is intended to be cut according to the lines 14 to supply identical pieces of film 16 which act as packaging envelopes for items 12. On the Figure 1 is also shown in dotted lines the silhouette of 18 foils obtained by stranding the projections of part and other of the article to be packaged 12.

According to the present invention, the film strip 10 has sealing coatings 20 extending in the direction transverse of the strip on the inner side with respect to articles 12 to pack. These bands 20 are arranged astride the lines of cut 14 so that after cutting the film strip 10 each individual piece 16 has two strips along its edges 20a, 20b sealing plaster.

Dans l'exemple représenté sur la figure 1 l'enduit de scellage est un enduit de scellage à froid, par exemple le produit 22-392 de la société CRODA qui est déposé à raison de 3g/m2.In the example shown in FIG. 1, the sealing coating is a cold sealing coating, for example the product 22-392 from the company CRODA which is deposited at the rate of 3 g / m 2 .

This film 40 is made up of coexOPP (coextruded oriented polypropylene) which alone does not does not have retention properties for 18 papillotes. be able nevertheless to form these twists 18 the film is coated in the two papillote formation zones 18 on the inner side by relative to the product to be packaged 12 of two longitudinal strips 42, 44 of a cold bonding coating which can be constituted by the same material as that of the transverse bands 20 of the embodiment of Figure 1. The embodiment of Figure 2 has transverse strips 46 of sealing coating to hot which after cutting the film form along the edges of each piece of transverse bands 46a and 46b. These bands transverse heat seal plaster can be formed by a layer of PE coextruded on the OPP.

Note that different combinations are possible between the embodiments according to FIGS. 1 and 2. It is thus by example that the transverse strips of cold sealing plaster of Figure 1 can be replaced by transverse bands hot sealing plaster. Likewise, the sealing strips at warm 46 of Figure 2 can be replaced by strips of cold sealing. Furthermore, it is possible that both the bands longitudinal 42, 44 of Figure 2 that the transverse bands 46 all consist of either heat sealing plaster or cold sealing plaster.

L'emballage est terminé en toronnant les deux extrémités dans le sens du rabattement de la nervure 50 pour former deux papillotes 18 selon la figure 4d.Figures 3a to 3d as well as Figures 4a to 4d illustrate the different successive phases of a packaging process in accordance to the present invention using a package as described above above with reference to Figures 1 or 2. Article 12 is placed on one films 16 inside the transverse bands 20a and 20b. The figures show, by way of example, the pieces of film 16 of FIG. 1 but it is understood that the method also applies well to the film of figure 2 as well as the different combinations possible. The two side panels A and B with the bands transverse sealing plaster 20a and 20b are then folded upwards as shown in Figures 3a and 4a. We fold then the two sides A and B simultaneously inward on the article 12 so that their inner edges with the bands cross 20a and 20b are placed one against the other as shown in Figure 4b. We then exercise as shown on Figure 5 a pressure on the outside of each of the edges of the sides A and B over the entire width to seal these two sides together at the level of their cold sealing coating. This folding operation sections A and B and sealing of their edge can be carried out in one single operation between the jaws of a press 48 (Figure 3b). We thus obtains a sealing rib 50 which extends over the entire width, as shown in Figures 3c and 4b. This rib is then folded and folded over the packaging according to Figures 3d and 4c, of preferably, exerting vertical pressure according to figure 6 to give the packaging an attractive presentation. The packaging is finished by twisting the two ends in the direction of the drawdown of the rib 50 to form two twists 18 according to Figure 4d.

On réalise ainsi un emballage quasi-hermétique qui empêche la sortie des arômes ou la pénétration d'air, d'humidité, d'odeurs néfastes etc...Thanks to the presence of the transverse strips 20a, 20b of plaster cold sealing and thanks to the use of pressure, obtains a perfect closure over the entire width of the packaging. The 18 foils, moreover, especially when carried out at the level of longitudinal strips 42 and 44 of sealing plaster according to Figure 2 a side closure. This produces packaging quasi-hermetic which prevents the release of aromas or penetration air, humidity, harmful odors etc ...

In the case of transverse strips of hot sealing plaster the jaws of the press 48 can be heated to a temperature of the order of 150 ° to obtain a perfect seal between bands 20a and 20b. It is also possible to blow air hot (± 150-180 ° C) on both edges before sealing them together in the press.
