  • the knob 506 can be provided with an extension or engagement surface 512 as shown in Figures 1 and 10.

  • the C-shape of both the main rib 250 and the supplemental rib 260 provides a space in the open end of the C-shape that also enhances ease of insertion of the toner box 200 into the developing device 10.
  • the main rib 250 engages with an arcuate rib 650 mounted on an inside surface of the developing device 10.
  • the open end of the C-shape of the supplemental rib 260 departs from engagement with the supplemental arcuate projection 616.
  • the supplemental arcuate projection 616 includes a plurality of circumferentially spaced members, one of which is formed on the top part of the developing device 10, which is shown in Figures 18 and 19, but not in Figure 17.
  • the supplemental rib 260 upon departure from the supplemental arcuate projection 616, engages yet another circumferentially spaced portion such that piece-wise continuous contact is made between circumferentially spaced portions of the supplemental arcuate projection 616 and the supplemental rib 260.
  • the spaces between the spaced portions of the supplemental rib also provide room to insert the toner box 200 into the developing device 10 to prevent interference between the protuberances of the toner box 200 and the inside wall of the developing case 27.
  • the supplemental rib 616 and its circumferentially spaced portions ensure that the toner box 200 is maintained in proper orientation and positioned with respect to the development case 610 upon rotation of the toner box 200 with respect to the development case.
  • Engagement between the main rib 250 and the arcuate projection 650 causes a biasing or camming action that causes the toner exhaust port 206 to move closer to toner introduction port 612 as the toner box 200 is rotated. Therefore, less space is provided between the toner box 200 and the development chamber, thus decreasing the likelihood of toner escaping along undesirable portions of the developing device 10.
  • the above-described camming action causes the projections 218 of the pressure-molded resin body 202 to move closer to the surface of the developing device 10 where the case shield 614 is slidably mounted. Therefore, opposed portions 218a and 218b of each pair of projections 218 firmly engage a lateral edge 614a and 614b, respectively, of the case shutter 614.
  • the projections 218 slide along the lateral edges 614a and 614b of the case shutter 614.
  • the extension 210 of the toner box 200 slides along a planar surface 643 along the bottom of the developing case 27 ( Figure 17) until the extension 210 reaches the lock release projection 600.
  • the projections 218 are caused to move closer to the case shutter 614 while simultaneously engaging and displacing the case shutter 614 in the direction B.
  • the above operation is reversed, i.e., the toner box is rotated from the position shown in Figure 15 to the position shown in Figure 14, thus displacing the case shutter 614 back to the position where it closes the toner introduction port 612, and the toner box 200 is then longitudinally slid along a direction opposite of that from the direction I shown in Figures 13 and 17.
  • the toner exhaust port 206 is rotated along with the pressure-molded resin body 202 from a position below the toner introduction port 612 to a position substantially aligned with the toner introduction port 612. Therefore, when the toner box is rotated to the position shown in Figure 15, the toner exhaust port is aligned with toner introduction port 612. Furthermore, the toner box shielding member 204 is stationary with respect to the developing device 10, so that rotation of the toner box 200 causes the pressure-molded resin body 202 to rotate with respect to the toner box shielding member 206, thereby uncovering the toner exhaust port 204.
  • the toner exhaust port 206 and the toner introduction port 612 are aligned and in open communication such that rotation of the shaft 300 causes the blade 400 to forcibly insert toner into the development case 27.
  • the toner box shielding member 204 is provided with a longitudinal rib 270 ( Figures 18 and 19) disposed within a slot 620 formed between the top and bottom portions of the development case 27 such that the toner box shielding member 204 is prevented from rotating with respect to the developing device 10.
  • the rib 270 is also shown in Figure 19 in which the toner box shielding member 204 is shown to be in a position uncovering the toner exhaust port 206.
  • Figures 21 and 22 disclose a cross section through a middle portion of the toner box 200 where the toner level detecting portions 242 are located.
  • Figures 21 and 22 correspond to the positions of the rotatable toner box 200 shown in Figures 14 and 15, respectively.
  • the toner detecting portions 242 are rotated to a position substantially along the bottom half of the toner box such that each half of the toner detector 58 ( Figure 1) can be inserted on either side of the toner fillable aperture 240.
  • Each toner detecting portion 242 includes a groove-like portion 243 that allows the toner box to rotate while preventing improper engagement between the toner detector 58 and the toner detecting portions 242.
  • Each toner detecting portion 242 also includes a second surface 245 below which the toner detector 58 is positioned when the toner box 200 reaches the position shown in Figures 1A and 22.

Claims (13)

  1. Tonerkassette zur Benutzung mit einer Tonerentwicklungsvorrichtung (10) eines Bilderzeugungsgerätes, mit:
    einem Tonerkassettengehäuse (202) mit einer zylindrischen Oberfläche und einem ersten und einem zweiten Ende;
    einer zwischen dem ersten und dem zweiten Ende angeordneten Tonerauslaßöffnung (206), wobei das Tonerkassettengehäuse (202) in Bezug auf die Entwicklungsvorrichtung (10) um eine Achse durch die Enden drehbar ist, wenn sie daran angebracht ist;
    einem drehbar auf der zylindrischen Oberfläche des Tonerkassettengehäuses (202) angebrachten Tonerkassettenabschirmteil (204) zum Öffnen und Schließen der Tonerauslaßöffnung (206), während das Tonerkassettengehäuse (202) in Bezug auf das Tonerkassettenabschirmteil (204) gedreht wird; und
    einem Paar von Vorsprüngen (218), die in dem Tonerkassettengehäuse (202) enthalten sind und auf jeder Seite in Bezug auf die axiale Richtung des Tonerkassettenabschirmteiles (204) gebildet sind, wobei jedes Paar von Vorsprüngen (218) so aufgebaut ist, daß es in Eingriff mit einem Entwicklungsvorrichtungsabschirmteil (614) kommt, das bewegbar über einer Tonereinlaßöffnung (612) der Entwicklungsvorrichtung (10) positioniert ist;
    wobei das Tonerkassettengehäuse (202) eine C-förmige Hauptrippe (250) aufweist, die sich teilweise um einen Umfang des Tonerkassettengehäuses (202) mit einem Raum erstreckt, der dem Tonerkassettengehäuse (202) erlaubt, in einer Richtung parallel zu der Achse durch die Enden in eine Position ohne Störung von der Entwicklungsvorrichtung (10) zu gleiten, wobei die Hauptrippe (250) so aufgebaut ist, daß sie drehmäßig und gleitmäßig in Eingriff mit einem bogenförmigen Vorsprung auf der Entwicklungsvorrichtung (10) steht;
    wobei die Tonerauslaßöffnung (206) durch eine Nockenwirkung zu der Tonereinlaßöffnung (612) der Entwicklungsvorrichtung (10) gedrückt wird, während die Hauptrippe (250) und der bogenförmige Vorsprung (650) in Eingriff stehen; und
    wobei die Drehung des Tonerkassettengehäuses (202) bewirkt, daß jeder des Paares von Vorsprüngen (218) in Eingriff mit dem Entwicklungsvorrichtungsabschirmteil (614) kommt und es zum Öffnen der Tonereinlaßöffnung (612) verschiebt, während sich die Tonerauslaßöffnung (206) zum Ausrichten mit der Tonereinlaßöffnung dreht, und zum Schließen, wenn in die entgegengesetzte Richtung gedreht wird.
  2. Tonerkassette nach Anspruch 1, bei der das Tonerkassettenabschirmteil (204) seitliche Lageroberflächen (220) aufweist, die gleitend mit den inneren Oberflächen eines jeden Paares von Vorsprüngen (218), die einander zugewandt sind, in Eingriff kommen können.
  3. Tonerkassette nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, mit einer Hilfsrippe (260), die auf einer entgegengesetzten Seite der Tonerauslaßöffnung (206) im Vergleich zu der Position der Hauptrippe (250) angeordnet ist, wobei die Hilfsrippe (260) drehmäßig und gleitmäßig in Eingriff mit einem bogenförmigen Hilfsvorsprung (616) auf der Entwicklungsvorrichtung steht, wobei die Hilfsrippe (260) ein C-förmiges Teil mit einem Raum ist, der dem Tonerkassettengehäuse (202) erlaubt, in eine Richtung parallel zu der Achse durch die Enden in eine Position ohne Störung von der Entwicklungsvorrichtung (10) zu gleiten.
  4. Tonerkassette nach Anspruch 3, bei der das Tonerkassettengehäuse (202) ein offenes Ende aufweist, das unter Benutzung einer Kappe (500) mit einem zum Drehen des Tonerkassettengehäuses (202) betätigbaren Knopf (506) abdichtbar ist, und bei der die Hauptrippe (250) näher zu der Kappe (500) als die Hilfsrippe (260) positioniert ist.
  5. Tonerkassette nach Anspruch 3 oder 4, bei der die Hilfsrippe (260) zum in Eingriff kommen mit dem bogenförmigen Hilfsvorsprung (616) durch Drehen des Tonerkassettengehäuses (202) positioniert ist und die Hauptrippe (250) in Eingriff mit dem bogenförmigen Vorsprung (650) steht, nachdem das Tonerkassettengehäuse (202) beginnt, sich zu einer Tonerausgabeposition zu drehen, und bei der der bogenförmige Hilfsvorsprung (616) umfangsmäßig beabstandete Abschnitte aufweist, die einen kontinuierlichen Eingriff zwischen der Hilfsrippe (260) und dem bogenförmigen Hilfsvorsprung (616) vorsehen, während das Tonerkassettengehäuse (202) gedreht wird.
  6. Tonerkassette nach irgend einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 5, bei der das Tonerkassettenabschirmteil (204) eine Verlängerung (210) aufweist, die so aufgebaut ist, daß sie in Eingriff mit einem Verriegelungsabschnitt (214) steht, der auf dem Tonerkassettengehäuse (202) angebracht ist, und bei der die Verlängerung (210) aus dem Eingriff mit dem Verriegelungsabschnitt (214) durch eine nockenförmige Oberfläche der Entwicklungsvorrichtung (10) vorgespannt ist, wenn das Tonerkassettengehäuse (202) zum Zusammenwirken mit der Entwicklungsvorrichtung (10) positioniert ist.
  7. Tonerkassette nach irgend einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 6, bei der das Tonerkassettengehäuse (202) ein Ende aufweist, daß mit einer Lageroberfläche (228) versehen ist, die zum Zusammenwirken mit einer zugehörigen Lageroberfläche strukturiert ist, die auf einer Drehwelle (300) innerhalb des Tonerkassettengehäuses (202) gebildet ist.
  8. Tonerkassettengehäuse nach irgend einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 7, bei der das Tonerkassettengehäuse (202) mindestens eine Tragrippe (222, 224) aufweist, die das Tonerkassettenabschirmteil (204) während der Drehung trägt,
    bei der die mindestens eine Tragrippe eine Mittelrippe (222) und eine seitliche Rippe (224) auf jeder Seite von der Mittelrippe (222) aufweist zum Tragen von jeder Seite des Tonerkassettenabschirmteiles (204), wobei das Tonerkassettenabschirmteil (204) von der Umfangsoberfläche des Tonerkassettengehäuses (202) beabstandet ist.
  9. Tonerkassette nach Anspruch 8, bei der das Tonerkassettengehäuse (202) einen ersten und einen zweiten durch einen Tonerhohlraum (240) getrennten Tonerniveauerfassungsabschnitt (242) aufweist und bei der Mittelrippe (222) im wesentlichen mit dem Tonerhohlraum (240) ausgerichtet ist, bei der der Tonerhohlraum (240) bevorzugt ein V-förmiges Teil ist.
  10. Tonerkassette nach Anspruch 8 oder 9, bei der die Tonerauslaßöffnung (206) von einem Tonerabsorptionsteil (216) zum Abwischen überschüssigen Toners von dem Tonerkassettenabschirmteil (204) umgeben ist und bei der die Mittelrippe (222) sich radial weg von dem Tonerkassettengehäuse (202) um einen Abstand geringer als der des Tonerabsorptionsteiles (216) erstreckt.
  11. Entwicklungsaufbau für ein Bilderzeugungsgerät, mit:
    einer Entwicklungsvorrichtung (10) mit einem Gehäuse (27) mit einer äußeren Wand mit einer darin abgegrenzten Tonereinlaßöffnung (612) und einem darauf gebildeten Tonerkassettenträger (610), einer auf einer Seite des Gehäuses (27) gegenüber der Tonereinlaßöffnung (612) offenliegenden Entwicklungshülse (32) und einem verschiebbaren Gehäuseverschluß (614), der mit dem Gehäuse (27) benachbart zu dem Tonerkassettenträger (610) verbunden ist und abdichtend über die Tonereinlaßöffnung (612) bewegbar ist;
    einer abnehmbar an dem Träger (610) angebrachten Tonerkassette, wobei die Tonerkassette ein Tonerkassettengehäuse (202) mit einer zylindrischen Oberfläche und einem ersten und einem zweiten Ende aufweist;
    einer zwischen dem ersten und dem zweiten Ende des Tonerkassettengehäuses (202) angeordneten Tonerauslaßöffnung (206), wobei das Tonerkassettengehäuse (202) in Bezug auf die Entwicklungsvorrichtung (10) um die Achse durch die Enden drehbar ist, wenn sie daran angebracht ist;
    einem drehbar auf der zylindrischen Oberfläche in Bezug auf das Tonerkassettengehäuse (202) vorgesehenen Tonerkassettenabschirmteil (204) zum Öffnen und Schließen der Tonerauslaßöffnung (206), während das Tonerkassettengehäuse (202) in Bezug auf das Tonerkassettenabschirmteil (204) gedreht wird; und
    einem Paar von Vorsprüngen (218), die in dem Tonerkassettengehäuse (202) enthalten sind und auf jeder Seite in Bezug auf die axiale Richtung des Tonerkassettenabschirmteiles (204) gebildet sind, wobei jedes Paar von Vorsprüngen (218) so aufgebaut ist, daß es in Eingriff mit dem Gehäuseverschluß (614) kommt und ihn verschiebt auf die Drehung des Tonerkassettengehäuses hin zum Öffnen und Schließen der Tonereinlaßöffnung (612);
    wobei das Tonerkassettengehäuse (202) eine C-förmige Hauptrippe (250) aufweist, die sich teilweise um einen Umfang des Tonerkassettengehäuses (202) mit einem Raum erstreckt, der dem Tonerkassettengehäuse (202) erlaubt, in eine Richtung parallel zu der Achse durch die Enden in eine Position ohne Störung von der Entwicklungsvorrichtung (10) zu gleiten, wobei die Hauptrippe (250) so aufgebaut ist, daß sie drehmäßig und gleitmäßig in Eingriff mit einem bogenförmigen Vorsprung (650) der Entwicklungsvorrichtung (10) steht,
    wobei die Tonerauslaßöffnung (206) durch eine Nockenwirkung zu der Tonereinlaßöffnung (612) der Entwicklungsvorrichtung (10) gedrückt wird, während die Hauptrippe (250) und der bogenförmige Vorsprung (650) in Eingriff stehen.
  12. Entwicklungsaufbau nach Anspruch 11, bei dem das Tonerkassettenabschirmteil (204) ein zweiteiliger Aufbau ist, der über dem Tonerkassettengehäuse (202) einrastet.
  13. Entwicklungsaufbau nach Anspruch 11 oder 12, bei dem das Tonerkassettenabschirmteil (204) eine axial entlang des Tonerkassettengehäuses (202) gebildete Längsführungs- und Positionierungsrippe (270) aufweist, bei dem die Führungs- und Positionierungsrippe (270) innerhalb eines als Abschnitt des Tonerkassettenträgers (610) gebildeten Schlitzes positionierbar ist zum Verhindern einer Relativdrehung zwischen dem Tonerkassettenabschirmteil (204) und der Entwicklungsvorrichtung (10).
