Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a tank, in particular for semi-trailers, trailers, or trucks, for the transport of food, chemical or industrial liquids, or even pulverulent materials. Insulated tanks generally have an inner envelope made of sheets welded together and closed at each of the front ends by a circular, elliptical or other bottom.
A second outer envelope, often called a jacket, also produced by assembling sheets closed at the front ends by circular bottoms, covers an intermediate space filled at least partially with an insulation material.
The purpose of the outer jacket is to protect the insulation material of the inner envelope, mechanically and also by preventing the entry of moisture. Furthermore, this outer jacket has an aesthetic and aerodynamic function.
This outer jacket is subject to various mechanical stresses. During movement, it undergoes aerodynamic effects and humidity and dust tend to infiltrate between the two jackets through gaps due to the poor connection of two consecutive sheets. Then, this jacket also undergoes the effects of shocks due to dead branches for example. Furthermore, in particular in tank washing operations in an automatic machine, the outer jacket may be subjected to shocks which may lead to deformations.
The object of the present invention is to avoid these drawbacks by proposing an improved method for connecting the sheets. To this end, the invention relates more particularly to a tank having an outer jacket formed by at least two thin sheets having along at least one edge, a double molding. The double molding provided along one of the edges of a sheet covers the flat edge of the other sheet and thus delimits two grooves inside which an expansive joint is incorporated. The two sheets are riveted along a junction line. The double molding filled with an expansive joint firstly constitutes an effective barrier against the penetration of moisture or dust. In addition, this double molding tends to reinforce the mechanical resistance of the outer jacket. The manufacturing of a tank jacket is carried out by assembly by covering the sheets having at least two moldings along the rear edge. According to an alternative embodiment, weld beads are produced along the joining lines of the two sheets.
- Figure 1 shows a sectional view of a tank according to the invention
- 2 shows a detailed view, on an enlarged scale, of connection between two sheets.
Figure 1 shows a sectional view of a tank according to the invention. It consists of an inner jacket (1) and an outer jacket (2) between which is disposed a thermal insulation material (3). The inner jacket (1) is closed at the two front ends by bottoms (4, 5). Similarly, the outer jacket (2) is closed at the front ends by two bottoms (6, 7). The outer jacket consists of a plurality of steel sheets (8 to 11) forming partially overlapping cylindrical sections. These cylindrical sections are tight against the insulation and joined together by rivets provided in the lower part, under the tank. The sheets (8 to 11) are arranged in fish scales and have an overlap of 70 to 100 mm. The direction of travel of the vehicle is indicated by the arrow F. The sheets (8 to 11) are arranged so that the rear edge (12) of a sheet covers the front edge (13) of the sheet (9 ) arranged behind the previous one. This reduces the risk of moisture or dust penetration at the addition of two sheets.
La nervure (17) s'étend depuis le bord (19) de la tôle (16) jusqu'au bord d'une zone intermédiaire plane (20).The rear edge (15) of the most advanced sheet (16) has two ribs (17, 18) of trapezoidal section. The rib (17) extends from the edge (19) of the sheet (16) to the edge of a flat intermediate zone (20).
This intermediate flat zone (20) extends over a length of approximately 5 mm. The second rib (18) extends over a distance of about 12 mm, like the first rib (17). The height of this rib is approximately 5 mm. The particular shape of these two consecutive ribs, extending in total over an area with a width of approximately 100 mm, can be adapted for aesthetic reasons. In particular, these ribs can have a semi-circular, square, triangular shape, etc. The particular shape of these two ribs (17, 18) leaves room for great possibilities of aesthetic adaptation.
The front edge (22) of the second sheet (21) is arranged below the rear edge (15) of the first sheet (16). The overlap of the sheets (22 and 21) extends over a distance of the order of 100 millimeters. The two sheets are joined by rivets. The defined overlap zone, due to the presence of the two ribs (17, 18), two hollow spaces, of annular shape when the sheets form a cylindrical envelope, inside which are expanded joints (25, 26). This joint can advantageously be made of a material resistant to the aggressions of ozone, bad weather and hydrocarbons.
The invention is described in the foregoing by way of nonlimiting example. It is understood that the skilled person will be able to produce different forms of variant without departing from the scope of the invention.
