Abstract

The connector has contacts (3) fastened at one end in a square plastic body (1). They are guided sideways into a press part (2) in slit-type recesses (4) open towards the circuit board. The free ends of the contacts (3) have a press-in section (5) bent perpendicular to the circuit board. Each press-in section (5) has two press-in shoulders (6). The press part (2) is formed with press-in surfaces (7) parallel to the circuit board and arranged adjacent the recesses (4). On insertion, these surfaces (7) cooperate with the shoulders (6). The plug face of the connector is formed by a shield plate (8). The part (9) of this perpendicular to the circuit defines a front plate of the plug connector. The press part (2) is approx. u-shaped. The free ends (14,15) of the legs of the u-shape, together with the plastic body (1) between them, strike the front plane. The bridge of the u-shape is provided as a pressure surface (11) on insertion. A fastening pin (16) set back relative to the front plane is formed on the circuit board side of the legs of the u-shape.

Description

The invention relates to a press-in connector for pressing into holes in a printed circuit board, in which the contacts are fastened at one end in a substantially cuboid plastic body and are laterally guided in a pressed part in slot-like recesses open towards the printed circuit board and at their free end a right angle have a press-in section bent toward the printed circuit board, each of which is provided with two press-in shoulders, the press part being formed with press-in surfaces which are parallel to the printed circuit board and are arranged next to the recesses and which cooperate with the press-in shoulders when pressed in, and in which the mating face of the connector is formed by a shield plate whose vertical parts to the circuit board define a front level of the connector.

Such an angled press-in female connector is known from the registered German utility model DE 29515592. Basically, the pressing is by means of a flat stamp
Figure imgb0001
about plastic "and without special tools with pressure pins, also known from DE 3318135 C2.

In the press-in principle shown in the cited documents, it is provided to transmit the pressure exerted perpendicularly to the printed circuit board from above through press-in surfaces in the press part directly onto press-in shoulders arranged on the press-in sections of the contacts. Since the press-in pressure is exerted very close and in line with the press-in zone, neither bending moments nor buckling of the contacts can occur with this press-in method. The problem with the known connectors is the design, in particular the Arrangement and attachment of the individual parts to each other and to the circuit board. In addition to the mechanical stability of the structure and the problem of fastening, there is often also the problem of integrating a mass transmission possibility from the metal plug face to the printed circuit board in the already largely specified plug structure.

The invention has for its object to provide an improved press-in connector of the type mentioned.

This object is achieved in that the pressed part is approximately U-shaped, that the free ends of the U-legs abut together with the plastic body arranged between them on the front plane, that the U-base is provided as a pressure surface during the pressing and that The U-legs on the printed circuit board side are each formed with a fastening pin set back from the front plane.

Weiterbildungen der Erfindung sind in Unteransprüchen gekennzeichnet.Developments of the invention are characterized in the subclaims.

The invention is explained in more detail below using an exemplary embodiment with reference to the figures in the drawing:

In the upper part of FIG. 1, the shield plate 8, the plastic body 1, two rows of contacts 3, the pressed part 2 and two mass transfer plates 10 are individually shown side by side. The contacts 3 with the press-in shoulders 6 are first pressed into the plastic body 1 in a straight state and then bent by 90 degrees. The plastic press part 2 is pushed from the rear over the angled contacts 3, so that the press-in surfaces 7 (see also FIG. 4) come to lie directly over the press-in shoulders 6 and can interact with them during the press-in. The known press-in principle mentioned above comes into play again, so that neither bending moments nor buckling occur. The pressure surface 11 of the fully assembled plug-in strip shown in the lower part of FIG. 1 is arranged parallel above the press-in surfaces 7. In this part of the figure it can also be seen that the end face 13 of the plastic body 1 oriented towards the mating connector forms a line with the free ends 14, 15 of the U-leg of the pressed part which extend to the left and right thereof, or together to the rear of the shield plate 8, 9 abuts.

The pressed-in contacts 3 and the plastic body 1 can be seen particularly well in FIG. 3. The pocket-shaped or slot-shaped recesses 7 on the underside of the U-base 12 of the pressed part facing the printed circuit board can be seen particularly in FIG. The contact of the press-in shoulders 6 on the press-in surfaces 7 can be seen, for example, from the illustration according to FIG. 5, in which the press part 2 is designed somewhat differently than in FIG. 1.

Figur 2.
The comb-like recesses 7 shown in FIGS. 1, 4 and 5 have the further advantage that the connection grid of the contacts 3 is guided precisely. With a coordinated choice of geometry, even different contact cross sections such as round or rectangular contacts can be accommodated in identically shaped pressed parts 2. The invention is of course equally suitable for male and female connectors. On the pressed part 2, two plastic press pins 16 are formed, which ensure the mechanical attachment of the connector on the circuit board. During the final assembly, the two ground transfer plates 10, which are shown in particular in FIGS. 1 and 2, can be inserted, which fulfill a double function:
  • Mass transfer from the shield plate to the circuit board
  • Possibility for mechanical locking of the mating connector via a thread 17 integrated in the mating face, cf. Figure 2.

Figure imgb0001
Befestigung" und
Figure imgb0001
The Z-shaped design together with the slotted mounting pin 16 gives the particular advantage that for the two functions
Figure imgb0001
Attachment "and
Figure imgb0001
Mass transmission "does not require two but only one circuit board hole. The circuit board connection clips 21 with a press-in zone, which are designed somewhat differently in FIGS. 1 and 2, have practically no fastening function.

B. in Figur 4 erkennbar. To meet increased shielding requirements, a metallic shielding cage 18 can be integrated if necessary, see FIG. 6. This shielding cage 18 also later assumes the ground derivation to the printed circuit board or the frame grounding. For this purpose, tabs 19 are clamped between the shield plate 8 and the pressed part 2, and S-shaped connections 20 are bent under the pressed part 2. Thus, these connections 20 are inevitably together with the contacts 3 during the assembly and press-in process and the two ground leads 10 are pressed into the circuit board in the same assembly treatment. The recesses 22 for the tabs 19 are z. B. recognizable in Figure 4.
