Die dort dargestellte Sicherheitsleiste weist einen Schlauch auf, innerhalb dessen eine Vielzahl einander berührender Kontaktelemente angeordnet sind, welche aus einem zylindrischen Isolierkörper bestehen, in welchem ein metallisches Kontaktelement eingebettet ist, dessen Enden auf beiden Seiten des zylindrischen Isolierkörpers um den gleichen Betrag aus diesem herausragen. Im Ruhezustand dieser Sicherheitsleiste berühren sich also alle aneinander angrenzenden Kontaktelemente, während sich im gebogenen Zustand die Kontaktelemente voneinander lösen und sich die zylindrischen Isolierkörper randseitig berühren, wodurch ein durch die Kontaktelemente fließender Strom unterbrochen wird. Diese Anordnung weist den Nachteil auf, daß es einer relativ starken Durchbiegung bedarf, bevor der Kontakt unterbrochen wird. Die Schaltleiste muß jedoch bei geringen Durchbiegungen reagieren, da sie ansonsten sehr tief, also unpraktikabel, gebaut sein müßte.
