Abstract

Es werden ein Verfahren und eine Vorrichtung zum Bestimmen der Dichte eines Zigarettenstrangs beschrieben. Zur Dichtebestimmung wird die Intensität der Strahlung (8) einer Röntgenstrahlungsquelle (7) erfaßt, nachdem sie den Strang (1) durchdrungen hat. Die Röntgenstrahlung (8) wird mittels Röntgenstrahlungsdetektoren (14) erfaßt, die als Linienarray (13) angeordnet sind. Dieses Linienarray (13) weist einen zusätzlichen Röntgenstrahlungsdetektor (14.2) auf, der die Intensität eines den Strang nicht durchdringenden Teils der Röntgenstrahlung (8) als Referenzstrahlung separat erfaßt und ein entsprechendes Referenzsignal erzeugt. Außerdem ist ein weiterer Röntgenstrahlungsdetektor (14.1) vorgesehen, der gegen die Röntgenstrahlung dauernd abgeblendet ist und ein Dunkelsignal abgibt. Die Meßsignale (S3 bis Sn) , das Referenzsignal (S2) und das Dunkelsignal (S1) werden an eine Auswertanordnung (16) übergeben, die diese Signale zu einem Dichtesignal (17) verarbeitet.A method and an apparatus for determining the density of a cigarette rod are described. For density determination, the intensity of the radiation (8) from an X-ray source (7) is detected after it has penetrated the strand (1). The x-ray radiation (8) is detected by means of x-ray radiation detectors (14) which are arranged as a line array (13). This line array (13) has an additional X-ray detector (14.2) which separately detects the intensity of a part of the X-ray radiation (8) which does not penetrate the strand as reference radiation and generates a corresponding reference signal. In addition, a further X-ray detector (14.1) is provided, which is continuously dimmed against the X-rays and emits a dark signal. The measurement signals (S 3 to S n ), the reference signal (S 2 ) and the dark signal (S 1 ) are transferred to an evaluation arrangement (16) which processes these signals to form a density signal (17).
