Definitions
- the invention relates to a roll contour measuring device, in particular for measuring the contour of the roll surface of hot strip rolls installed in the roll stand, according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
- a four-roll stand for rolling metal strips with two work rolls and two backup rolls rotatably mounted in chocks is known, for example, from DE-A-2 260 256. Due to the process, there is heavy wear on the roll surfaces, especially the work rolls. Especially in the area of the edges of the rolling stock, local depressions, so-called wear marks, appear in the surface of the roll, which occur more frequently if metal strips of the same width are continuously rolled. As the rollers wear out, the flatness of the rolled metal strips decreases drastically. To prevent or reduce this, it is necessary to regrind or change the rollers at cyclical intervals. These distances are generally rigid and depend on the operating experience gained. Since the wear of the rolls is irregular, the renewal cycles of the rolls or roll surfaces are not optimal, i.e. performed in the most cost-effective manner.
- a mechanical distance sensor used on roll grinding machines is known, for example, from EP-B1-0239161.
- this distance sensor it is not possible to measure the contour of the hot roller surface directly in the stand, especially due to the unfavorable ambient conditions, especially the high temperatures occurring in the area of the rolls, since the measurement error is too large due to thermal expansions.
- the measurement with such a measuring device takes a relatively long time, which is disadvantageous inasmuch as the thermal bale of the roller begins to regress significantly after only one minute, but first and foremost one also records the thermal bale exactly, i.e. the actual contour of the hot roll surface during the rolling process.
- the invention provides that the longitudinal member can be moved from a parking position into a measuring position parallel to the axis of the roller. In the measuring position, the position of the longitudinal member relative to the roller can be changed in its axial direction, which can be achieved by longitudinally displacing the roller and / or the longitudinal member.
- the measurement time is significantly reduced with the large number of distance sensors.
- the use of several distance sensors has the additional advantage that measurement errors, for example due to vibrations, can be subsequently corrected in a simple manner. This is because, for example, the position of the side member randomly during the measurement, this change in distance, which does not represent a change in the roll profile, is detected simultaneously by all distance sensors, which enables a subsequent correction of this measurement error.
- the scanning of the roller with the measuring device according to the invention is expediently carried out in such a way that in the measuring position either the measuring carrier relative to the roller in its axial direction or by the roller being axially displaced relative to the distance sensors fixedly arranged on the longitudinal carrier. It is also conceivable to move the roller and side member in opposite directions.
- the work roll is advantageously arranged to be longitudinally displaceable.
- a further improvement of the measuring device can be achieved in that the longitudinal beam in the measuring position is supported on the ends of the roller during the measurement, specifically via a prism with two rollers. Such a support of the measuring device ensures a stable fixation of the distance sensors with respect to the Roll surface achieved, whereby the parallelism between the roller axis and the longitudinal beam axis is maintained.
- the invention proposes to arrange the distance sensors at the same distance from one another on the side member.
- the longitudinal member is expediently displaceable in the measuring position relative to the roller in its axial direction by a distance which is greater than or equal to the distance between two immediately adjacent distance sensors.
- a high level of insensitivity to water, heat and mechanical accelerations can be achieved if, according to the invention, the distance sensors are encapsulated with mechano-electrical path detection, which enables measurement with high measuring accuracy.
- Systematic measurement errors can also be kept low by the fact that the measuring heads of the distance sensors are aligned radially on the roller surface. Furthermore, the distance sensors are advantageously connected to an electronic evaluation unit in which the partial measured value curves of the individual distance sensors can be combined to form a continuous measuring curve of the roller contour.
- the invention can be used both in two-roll stands and on multiple or four-roll stands and can be used both in rolling mills for flat products and profiles.
- Fig. 1 shows a section of a roll stand 2 in longitudinal section, 1 denotes one of the two work rolls.
- the two ends of the work roll 1 are each rotatably mounted in chocks 3 in the roll stand 4.
- a roll contour measuring device 5 is arranged above the work roll 1 in the roll stand 2, which has a large number of distance sensors 6, which are attached to the longitudinal beam 7 at the same distance from one another and attached directly to it, whereby the longitudinal member 7 extends over the entire length of the work roll 1.
- the measuring heads of the distance sensors 6 are aligned radially on the roll surface of the work roll 1.
- the distance sensors 6 themselves are designed as mechano-electrical distance sensors, which enables a contactless, accurate determination of the distance.
- a total of sixteen distance sensors 6 are provided.
- the longitudinal beam 7 is connected to a cooling water circuit via corresponding supply and discharge lines 8 and can be flowed through by cooling water to remove the absorbed radiant heat.
- the longitudinal beam 7 is tubular, for example with an inner and an outer tube, leaving an annular gap;
- cooling coils can be provided for targeted cooling. To this Strong heating and the resulting thermal deformation of the longitudinal beam 7 during the measurement are effectively prevented.
- the longitudinal beam 7 is preferably made from a low-expansion material, for example from an INVAR nickel alloy with 36% Ni and 64% Fe, in order to prevent their thermal expansion and deformation, in particular with one-sided heat radiation, since INVAR has practically no expansion when the temperature changes.
- a low-expansion material for example from an INVAR nickel alloy with 36% Ni and 64% Fe, in order to prevent their thermal expansion and deformation, in particular with one-sided heat radiation, since INVAR has practically no expansion when the temperature changes.
- An detection of the roller contour is made possible by an axial roller displacement, as a result of which the distance sensors 6 are virtually guided over the roller surface.
- the longitudinal beam 7 can also be axially displaced during the measurement.
- the required movement stroke is in any case greater than or equal to the distance between two immediately adjacent distance sensors 6.
- the short displacement path caused by the large number of distance sensors 6 makes it possible to achieve a measurement time of less than 30 s for the entire roll contour measurement.
- Support elements in the form of prisms 12 are arranged at the free ends of the longitudinal beam 7.
- the ends of the longitudinal beam 7 are each connected to telescopic guide tubes 10, which can be extended in the direction of the work roll 1 by means of two displacement cylinders 11, via a cardan joint 9.
- the cardanic joints 9 enable the automatic adjustment of the longitudinal beam to a possibly existing skewed position of the roller, so that the two longitudinal axes run parallel in any case even under these conditions.
- the prisms 12 rest on the work roll 1 or on the bezel surfaces thereof.
- the prisms 12 are used to prevent tilting moments each provided with two spherical rollers 13 which, in the measuring position in which the longitudinal member 7 is parallel to the axis of the work roll 1, serve to support the roll contour measuring device 5 on the roll 1. This results in a very stable fixation of the longitudinal beam 7 and thus the distance sensors 6 with respect to the roll surface, so that it is ensured that the position of the distance sensors 6 with respect to the roll surface of the work roll 1 does not change during the measurement.
- FIGS. 3 and 4 show a schematic cross section through the roll stand in the region of the prisms 12; the roller contour measuring device is once in the park position (FIG. 3) and once in the measuring position (FIG. 4).
- a strain gauge 32 which is fastened on both sides in the housing 30 and is connected on one side to an electronic evaluation unit (not shown), is used to convert the mechanical displacement of a cylinder 31 arranged in a longitudinally displaceable manner in a housing 30.
- the lower end face of the cylinder 31 lies on a rigid intermediate element 33 on a sensing element designed as a ball 34.
- the inside of the housing is protected against moisture and steam by a metal bellows 35; the entire distance sensor 6 is encapsulated.
- a displacement of the probe ball 34 in the longitudinal direction of the cylinder 31, e.g. due to changes in the distance of the bearing surface, causes the upper end of the cylinder 31 to press on the strain gauge 32 and bend it. This deflection can be converted by the evaluation unit into an electrical signal proportional to the deflection of the strain gauge 32.
- the measured value curves of the individual distance sensors can be combined in the electronic evaluation unit to form a continuous measured curve of the roller contour.
- the rolling process is briefly interrupted and the roller contour measuring device 5 is turned off by actuating the displacement cylinder 11 the parking position in the measuring position parallel to the axis of the work roll 1.
- the work roll 1 is then shifted parallel to the axis of the longitudinal beam 7, the shift being greater than the distance between two immediately adjacent distance sensors 6.
- the distances from the distance sensors 6 continuously detected to the roller surface are fed to the electronic evaluation unit.
- the work roll is rotated to determine the entire circumferential contour.
- the roller contour measuring device 5 is moved back into the park position.
- the measured value curves of the individual distance sensors are combined in the evaluation unit to form a continuous measurement curve of the roll contour and compared with a predetermined target profile.
- the longitudinal beams 7 with the distance sensors 6 are designed to be displaceable in their axial direction.
- the work rolls 1 and the longitudinal beam 7, that is to say both of them, can also be displaced axially in opposite directions during the measurement.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a roll contour measuring device, in particular for measuring the contour of the roll surface of hot strip rolls installed in the roll stand, according to the preamble of
A four-roll stand for rolling metal strips with two work rolls and two backup rolls rotatably mounted in chocks is known, for example, from DE-A-2 260 256.
If you want to know the exact time for regrinding or replacing the roller, it is necessary to continuously record the wear of the rollers. This can be done, for example, by measuring the contour of the roller surface at appropriate time intervals with the appropriate measuring accuracy (approx. 0.01 - 0.03 mm) happen. The wear of the roller can then be determined exactly from the difference between the original and current roller contour. A distance sensor is usually guided lengthwise over the roller surface for measurement.
A mechanical distance sensor used on roll grinding machines is known, for example, from EP-B1-0239161. With this distance sensor it is not possible to measure the contour of the hot roller surface directly in the stand, especially due to the unfavorable ambient conditions, especially the high temperatures occurring in the area of the rolls, since the measurement error is too large due to thermal expansions. In addition, the measurement with such a measuring device takes a relatively long time, which is disadvantageous inasmuch as the thermal bale of the roller begins to regress significantly after only one minute, but first and foremost one also records the thermal bale exactly, i.e. the actual contour of the hot roll surface during the rolling process.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a roller contour measuring device for measuring the roller contour, in particular hot strip rollers installed in the roll stand, which makes it possible to measure the contour of the hot roller (the thermal bale) over the entire roller length with high measuring accuracy in every wear condition to determine.
The solution to this problem is characterized by the features specified in
The invention provides that the longitudinal member can be moved from a parking position into a measuring position parallel to the axis of the roller. In the measuring position, the position of the longitudinal member relative to the roller can be changed in its axial direction, which can be achieved by longitudinally displacing the roller and / or the longitudinal member.
By moving the longitudinal member together with the distance sensors into a protected parking position, it is achieved that they are only briefly exposed to the unfavorable environmental conditions in the roll stand during the measuring period, so that in particular the measuring error due to thermal deformations of the measuring device can be kept negligibly low. This also increases the lifespan of the distance sensors. Arranging a large number of distance sensors at a distance from one another on the longitudinal member has the further advantage that the distance sensors for measuring the roll contour do not have to be guided over the entire roll length, but only over a much shorter partial length. Ten distance sensors, which are evenly distributed over the entire roll length, make it possible to reduce the required longitudinal measuring path of each individual distance sensor to 10% of the roll length while measuring the roll contour. As a result, the measurement time is significantly reduced with the large number of distance sensors. The use of several distance sensors has the additional advantage that measurement errors, for example due to vibrations, can be subsequently corrected in a simple manner. This is because, for example, the position of the side member randomly during the measurement, this change in distance, which does not represent a change in the roll profile, is detected simultaneously by all distance sensors, which enables a subsequent correction of this measurement error. The scanning of the roller with the measuring device according to the invention is expediently carried out in such a way that in the measuring position either the measuring carrier relative to the roller in its axial direction or by the roller being axially displaced relative to the distance sensors fixedly arranged on the longitudinal carrier. It is also conceivable to move the roller and side member in opposite directions.
The work roll is advantageously arranged to be longitudinally displaceable. A further improvement of the measuring device can be achieved in that the longitudinal beam in the measuring position is supported on the ends of the roller during the measurement, specifically via a prism with two rollers. Such a support of the measuring device ensures a stable fixation of the distance sensors with respect to the Roll surface achieved, whereby the parallelism between the roller axis and the longitudinal beam axis is maintained.
The invention proposes to arrange the distance sensors at the same distance from one another on the side member. The longitudinal member is expediently displaceable in the measuring position relative to the roller in its axial direction by a distance which is greater than or equal to the distance between two immediately adjacent distance sensors.
In order to keep thermal expansions of the roller contour measuring device as low as possible, in particular during the measurement, it is proposed to make the longitudinal member water-cooled.
A high level of insensitivity to water, heat and mechanical accelerations can be achieved if, according to the invention, the distance sensors are encapsulated with mechano-electrical path detection, which enables measurement with high measuring accuracy.
Systematic measurement errors can also be kept low by the fact that the measuring heads of the distance sensors are aligned radially on the roller surface. Furthermore, the distance sensors are advantageously connected to an electronic evaluation unit in which the partial measured value curves of the individual distance sensors can be combined to form a continuous measuring curve of the roller contour.
The invention can be used both in two-roll stands and on multiple or four-roll stands and can be used both in rolling mills for flat products and profiles.

The figures are intended to illustrate the principle of the invention roughly schematically. Fig. 1 shows a section of a
An detection of the roller contour is made possible by an axial roller displacement, as a result of which the
Support elements in the form of
In the extended state of the
To measure the roller contour, the rolling process is briefly interrupted and the roller
Of course, it is also possible that the
