Abstract

The structure, designed as a protective insert between the layers of a garment, consists of a moulded layer with recesses (4) which are pref. pyramidal in shape and contain plates of a ceramic, vitro-ceramic, metal or other hard material, fixed in the bottom of each recess by a resin adhesive. The layer of moulded material is then covered by a layer of a material such as Kevlar (RTM), and this is covered in turn by a layer of foam (11) which is compatible with the Kevlar (RTM).
