- A method of setting the volume of a pump chamber (6) in a pump fixed on the neck of a receptacle by means of a crimping ring (20b), said pump including a pump body (1) and a piston (3) sliding in said pump body (1) between a rest position and actuated position, the volume of the pump chamber (6) being defined by the pump body (1) and the rest position of the piston (3), said crimping ring (20b) including a central opening (21) through which a top portion (10) of said pump passes, said method being characterized by the step of forming in the crimping ring (20b), in the vicinity of the central opening (21), at least one depression (30) having determined depth and penetrating into the pump body (1), said depression (30) having a bottom portion (31) in contact with the an element of the pump defining the rest position of the piston (3), which piston is offset into the pump body (1) by a distance that is approximately equal to the depth of said at least one depression (30), whereby the depth of said at least one depression (30) sets the volume of the pump chamber (6).
- A method according to claim 4, in which a single annular depression (30) is formed in the crimping ring (20b), said annular depression defining said central opening (21).
- A method according to claim 4 or claim 5, in which the step of forming at least one depression (30) in the crimping ring (20b) is performed by deforming the material thereof in the vicinity of said central opening (21).
- A method according to any one of claims 4 to 6, in which the step of forming at least one depression (30) in the crimping ring (20b) is performed in such a manner that the overall outside shape of the crimping ring (30) together with its at least one depression (30) is identical regardless of the depth of said depression (30).
