Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Feinbearbeitung der Außenumfangsfläche von geschlitzten, radial nach außen spannenden, ringförmigen Werkstücken, insbesondere von zu einem Paket zusammengefaßten Kolbenringen mittels eines die Werkstücke umgreifenden, aus mindestens zwei Segmenten bestehenden Werkzeuges, wobei die Segmente eine einen definierten Krümmungsradius aufweisende Oberfläche besitzen, an die sich die Werkstücke flächig anlegen und relativ dazu bewegt werden.The invention relates to a method for the fine machining of the outer peripheral surface of slotted, radially outwardly clamping, annular workpieces, in particular piston rings combined into a package, by means of a tool encompassing the workpieces and consisting of at least two segments, the segments having a surface with a defined radius of curvature to which the workpieces lie flat and are moved relative to them.
Zur Feinbearbeitung von Kolbenringen werden diese bisher zu einem Paket zusammengefaßt und innerhalb einer Honbüchse dadurch am Außenumfang bearbeitet, daß ein mit Kolbenringen bestückter Dorn in die Büchse einfährt und dort hin- und herbewegt und gedreht wird. Die DE 30 11 670 offenbart eine derartige Vorrichtung, bei der die Honbüchse einen kreiszylindrischen Querschnitt aufweist. Der Innendurchmesser entspricht dabei dem Durchmesser, den die Kolbenringe im Betrieb aufweisen. Im oberen Bereich der Honbüchse besitzt diese an ihrer Innenseite eine leicht konisch verlaufende Abschrägung. Über diese Abschrägung werden die Kolbenringe in die Honbüchse gedrückt. Die Honbüchse besteht aus zwei Hälften und wird mittels Schrauben verspannt. Die Schrauben dienen dazu, eine Nachstellung der Anpreßkraft der rechten Hälfte gegen die linke Hälfte auszuführen. In Abhängigkeit von der Abnützung der Honbüchse erfolgt eine Nachstellung der Anpreßkraft. Der Nachteil dieser Vorrichtung begründet sich dadurch, daß bei Nachstellung der Anpreßkraft eine Unrundheit der Innenbohrung sich einstellt. Der Verbrauch von Honbüchsen ist ein besonderes Problem bei der Kolbenringbearbeitung. Durch den großen Verschleiß der Innenbohrung der Honbüchsen müssen eine Vielzahl von Büchsen bereitgestellt werden. Das Nachstellen der Honbüchsen hat sich in bezug auf die Qualitätsanforderung moderner Motoren als nicht zweckmäßig erwiesen. Der Erfindung liegt die Aufgabe zugrunde, die den bekannten Vorrichtungen anhaftenden Nachteile zu überwinden und ein neues Feinbearbeitungsverfahren zu schaffen, mit dem sich Oberflächentopographien erreichen lassen, die insbesondere die Laufeigenschaften von Kolbenringen verbessern. Diese Aufgabe wird erfindungsgemäß dadurch gelöst, daß die Segmente zunächst derart den Werkstücken zugeführt werden, daß ein sich der Oberfläche anpassendes Schleifband in Schleifkontakt mit den Werkstücken gebracht wird und in Bearbeitungsstellung die Krümmunungsradien der Oberflächen auf einem gemeinsamen Mittelpunkt liegen, anschließend die Werkstücke relativ zum Schieifband bewegt werden, wobei während der Feinbearbeitung die eingestellte Bearbeitungsstellung der Segmente konstant beibehalten wird.The invention has for its object to overcome the disadvantages inherent in the known devices and to create a new finishing process with which surface topographies can be achieved which in particular improve the running properties of piston rings. Die Bearbeitung von Oberflächen mit Hilfe eines Schleifbandes ist bereits seit vielen Jahren bekannt. Hierbei handelt es sich um ein Verfahren für die Feinbearbeitung zylindrischer und gewölbter Flächen bei Verwendung von Polierband als Schneidmittel. Formgerecht ausgebildete Polierschalen, die selbst keinem Verschleiß unterliegen, weil sie außerhalb der Zerspanungszone liegen, drücken das Polierband an die Werkstückoberfläche. Die US 2 376 531 offenbart eine solche Vorrichtung. Das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren basiert auf einer solchen Vorrichtung, jedoch wird beim Anmeldungsgegenstand von seiten des Werkzeuges kein Druck auf die Werkstücke ausgeübt. Auf diese Weise ist es nunmehr möglich, auch geschlitzte, radial nach außen spannende Werkstücke, wie insbesondere Kolbenringe am Außenumfang zu bearbeiten, bisher konnten nur geschlossene, starre Werkstücke bearbeitet werden. Dadurch, daß die Krümmungsradien der Oberfläche der Segmente auf einen gemeinsamen Mittelpunkt liegen und dieser während der gesamten Bearbeitung konstant beibehalten wird, wird ein geschlossenes, verriegeltes Bearbeitungswerkzeug geschaffen, welches zur Führung und Bearbeitung der Werkstücke dient. Der spezifische Anpreßdruck wird von der Eigenspannung der Werkstücke erzeugt. Vorzugsweise werden die Werkstücke durch am Endbereich des Paketes angeordnete Scheiben axial hin- und herbewegt und gedreht, wobei es von besonderem Vorteil ist, daß die Werkstücke unter axialem Spiel im Paket geführt sind, so daß jedes einzelne Werkstück unter Eigenspannung sich am Schleifband anlegt. Die Scheiben übertragen die Drehbewegung auf die Werkstücke. Die Übertragung der Drehbewegung wird dabei in den Totenpunkten der axialen Hin- und Herbewegung eingeleitet. Die Übertragung der Drehbewegung auf die einzelnen Werkstücke innerhalb des Paketes erfolgt durch Reibkräfte zwischen den einzelnen Werkstücken. Denkbar ist auch, daß die Werkstücke während der Bearbeitung gezielt axial gespannt und entspannt werden, um eine zwangsweise, periodische Drehung einzuleiten und hierdurch ein gezieltes Schliffbild zu erzeugen. Es kann beispielsweise die Relativgeschwindigkeit der einzelnen Bewegungen so gewählt werden, daß eine Kreuzschraffur mit vorher bestimmbaren Kreuzwinkel und einer Rautiefe Rz kleiner gleich 3 µm erzeugt wird. Zur Erzeugung einer balligen Außenumfangsfläche wird während der Hin- und Her- und Drehbewegung eine Taumelbewegung eingeleitet.The processing of surfaces using an abrasive belt has been known for many years. Zur Durchführung des erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens wird vorgeschlagen, daß das Werkzeug aus zwei Segmenten besteht, deren Krümmungsradius etwa dem eines auf Nenndurchmesser gespannten Werkstückes entspricht und auf dessen Oberfläche ein Schleifband angeordnet ist. Die Segmente sind dem Paket über eine Führung radial zustellbar und bei Erreichung der Bearbeitungsstellung über Befestigungsmittel fixierbar. Da das Paket in die geöffnete Bearbeitungsstation eingefahren wird entfällt der sonst übliche Paketeinzug über einen Einführkonus. Hierdurch können an den Kanten Ausbrüche an den Werkstücken vermieden werden, der Ausschuß wird somit gesenkt und die Qualität verbessert. Durch einen an den Scheiben angreifenden Verstellmechanismus sind die Scheiben aufeinen Schwenkwinkel einstellbar. Diese Einstellung kann während der Bearbeitung verändert werden. Zur Durchführung des erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens zur Feinbearbeitung von insbesondere Kolbenringen (1), die zu einem Paket (2) zusammengefaßt sind, ist ein aus zwei Segmenten (3, 3') bestehendes Werkzeug vorgesehen, welches am Innenumfang ein Schleifband (4) aufweist. Der Krümmungsradius der Oberfläche (5, 5') der Segmente (3, 3') entspricht dem des eines auf Nenndurchmesser gespannten Kolbenringes (1). Zur Feinbarbeitung des Paktes (2) werden die Kolbenringe (1) mit Hilfe eines Schiebers (6) als Paket (2) den Segmenten (3, 3') zugeführt. Mit Hilfe am Endbereich des Paketes (2) angreifender Scheiben (7, 7') wird das Paket (2) axial lose oder gespannt zwischen den Segmenten (3, 3') bewegt. Die Segmente (3, 3') werden dem zwischen den Scheiben (7, 7') gehaltenen Paket (2) über eine Führung (8) radial zugestellt. Bei Erreichung der Bearbeitungsstellung, das heißt sobald die Krümmungsradien der Oberflächen (5,5') auf einen gemeinsamen Mittelpunkt liegen, erfolgt eine Arretierung dieser Stellung über Befestigungsmittel (9), beispielsweise in Form von Hydraulikzylindern. Zur Feinbearbeitung der Außenumfangsfläche der einzelnen Kolbenringe (1) werden diese axial zwischen den Segmenten (3, 3') hin- und herbewegt und gedreht, gleichzeitig kann über einen Verstellmechanismus (10) ein Schwenkwinkel α eingestellt werden. Im Gegensatz zur Feinbearbeitung mit Honbüchsen erfolgt gemäß dem erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren ein Materialabtrag über ein auf einem Schleifband gebundenes Schleifkorn.
