Abstract

The lid (11) is pivotally joined to the box part (10) near the back (15) of the box and back (17) of the lid. Description

The invention relates to a hinged box (hinge-lid pack) with a substantially cuboid shape made of thin cardboard or similar packaging material for receiving a cigarette group, consisting of a box part and a lid, the lid in the region of a box rear wall and a lid rear wall is pivotally connected to the box part.

Hinged boxes made of thin cardboard are standard packaging for cigarettes. The box part and lid of this type of pack are formed from a one-piece blank. The collar mainly consists of a separate cut, also made of thin cardboard.

The invention has for its object to further develop and improve this type of pack for cigarettes in such a way that on the one hand it is easier to handle and on the other hand it is possible to save material in conjunction with an improved external appearance.

The folding box designed in this way therefore has differently shaped cross sections in the region of its front side on the one hand and its rear side on the other. The rear edges are, as in a conventional hinged box, rectangular in cross-section, while the front edges are rounded or beveled, thus forming double edges. If there is a separate collar, if necessary, the upright edges formed between the front wall of the collar and the side flaps of the collar are chamfered or rounded. In the version with bevelled front edges, the packaging has a hexagonal shape in cross section.

The cut is designed in a special way for the production of such hinged boxes. Upright, narrow side walls of the box part and lid consist of one another overlapping and interconnected inner and outer side tabs and lid side tabs. Both the side flaps or lid side flaps arranged on the box rear wall and on the lid rear wall as well as the (outer) side flaps and lid side flaps arranged on the box front wall and on the lid front wall are formed with a smaller width than the total width of the side walls or the hinged box itself. As a result, the side flaps and lid side flaps are only covered in the area outside the beveled or rounded (front) edges.

Another special feature of the hinged box or the cut is that corner flaps that are used in the finished. Hinged box on the inside of an end wall of the lid or on the bottom wall of the box part on the other hand, have a greater width than the side flaps and side flaps of the lid, in such a way that these corner flaps over the full width of the front wall or the bottom wall within the hinged box extend. As a result, these corner flaps have a supporting function within the lid and the box part.

Furthermore, the corner flaps extend directly to the laterally adjacent areas of the blank for the hinged box, namely to the front wall and bottom wall. Compared to these cut parts, the corner flaps are separated by a punch cut.

Further features of the invention relate to the design of the hinged box and, above all, to the design of the blanks for hinged boxes with beveled or rounded front edges.

The drawings deal with folding boxes for cigarettes. The basic structure of this type of pack consists of a (lower) box part 10 and a (upper) lid 11. These pack parts are pivotally connected to one another. Furthermore, a collar 12 is part of the packaging here. Within it is a group of cigarettes packed by is surrounded by an inner blank made of paper or tinfoil and thus forms a cigarette block 13 filling the interior of the packaging.

The essentially cuboidal hinged box consists of a box front wall 14, an opposite box rear wall 15, a lid front wall 16 and a lid rear wall 17, narrow, upright side walls, namely box side walls 18, 19 and lid side walls 20, 21. A part of the box part 10 includes a bottom wall 22 and - opposite - an end wall 23 to the lid 11. The box part 10 and the lid 11 are pivotally connected to one another by a transverse articulation line 37 between the box rear wall 15 and the lid rear wall 17.

The blank for such a hinged box is constructed in such a way that the aforementioned wall areas are delimited from one another by longitudinal and transverse folding lines (FIGS. 3 and 9). The box side walls 18, 19 are formed by side tabs 24 and 25, which overlap one another and are connected to one another by adhesive bonding or the like. Usually, the side tabs 24 connected to the box rear wall 15 are on the inside and the side tabs 25 connected to the box front wall 14 are on the outside.

Analogously to this, the lid side walls 20, 21 consist of lid side tabs 26 and 27. Usually, outside lid side tabs 26 are connected to the lid front wall 16 and inside lid side tabs 27 are connected to the lid rear wall 17.

Corner flaps are still important. These are, on the one hand, cover corner tabs 28 and, on the other hand, bottom corner tabs 29. These folding tabs are connected to adjacent side tabs, namely the lid corner tabs 28 with the inside lid side tabs 27 and the bottom corner tabs 29 with the inside side tabs 24 .

Furthermore, an inner lid flap 60 or 66 belongs to the cut, which is attached to the free edge of the front lid wall 16 and folded against the inside thereof.

The special feature of the hinged box is that upright longitudinal edges of the hinged box, namely two front edges 30 and 31 on the one hand and opposite rear edges 32, 33 on the other hand, are designed differently. The rear edges 32, 33, which extend over the full height of the hinged box, are rectangular in cross section.

The front edges 30, 31 are designed differently. In the embodiment of FIGS. 1 to 6, these are beveled, while in the example according to FIGS. 7 to 11 rounded front edges 30, 31 are formed which are partially circular in cross section. These specially designed front edges 30, 31 also extend over the full height of the hinged box.

In the case of the first-mentioned exemplary embodiment, the design of the package results in a hexagonal cross section with two additional inclined edges 34, 35 and a material strip 36 arranged between them. The material strip 36 is preferably directed at an angle of 45. The width is matched to the diameter of the cigarettes, so that the packaging is adapted to the contour of the cigarette group. The design of the front edges 30, 31 also applies to the collar 12.

The design of the hinged box results from a special cut (FIGS. 3, 5; 9, 10). In the area of the box front wall 14 and the lid front wall 16, the assigned side tabs 25 and lid side tabs 26 are delimited from the aforementioned cutting areas by two parallel fold lines for the formation of the oblique edges 34, 35 (FIG. 3, FIG. 5) . The box rear wall 15 and the lid rear wall 17 are delimited from the adjacent side tabs 24 and lid side tabs 27 by longitudinal folding lines 38, 39. This extends - seen in the longitudinal direction of the blank - in a plane between the Folding lines for the bevelled edges 34, 35. As a result, the box rear wall 15 and lid rear wall 17 have a somewhat larger width than the box front wall and lid front wall.

The width of the side tabs 24..27 is particularly selected, namely it is significantly smaller than the total width or depth of the hinged box. These geometrical proportions ensure that the side tabs 24, 25 and cover side tabs 26, 27 only overlap one another outside the region of the front edges 30, 31. The outer side tabs 25 and lid side tabs 26 extend on the rear side of the hinged box to approximately the rear edge 32, 33. The inner side tabs 24 and lid side tabs 27 end in front of the facing oblique edge 34 (FIG. 2).

Another special feature relates to the positioning and configuration of the corner flaps 28, 29. In the transverse direction of the elongated blank (FIGS. 4, 9), the lid corner flaps 28 and bottom corner flaps 29 protrude beyond the contour of the blank. This results in a dimension of the corner flaps 28, 29 in this direction which corresponds to the width or depth of the interior of the hinged box. The lid corner tabs 28 are connected to the adjacent lid side tabs 27, but are separated without gaps relative to the likewise adjacent end wall 23 only by a punch cut 40. Likewise, the bottom corner tabs 29 are connected to the adjacent inner side tabs 24, but are separated from the adjacent bottom wall 22 accordingly by a punch cut 41.

An outer corner of the corner flaps 28, 29 facing the lid side flap 27 or the side flap 24 is designed as a bevel corner 42. In the finished hinged box, this abuts the material strip 36 in the area of the lid 11 or the box part 10, respectively.

The position of the corner flaps 28, 29 designed in this way results with respect to the lid corner flap 28, in particular from FIG. 2. The lid corner flap 28 fits in a lateral region of the lid 11 with the contact of an outer edge 64 on the lid front wall 16 and a punched edge 67 on the lid rear wall 17. A folding edge 43 is formed on the side due to the connection to the lid side tab 27.

The area of the bottom wall 22 is formed analogously to the end wall 23. The bottom corner flaps 29 are folded along the folding edge 43 into a position transverse to the side flap 24 and lie in a fitting, form-fitting manner on the end regions of the bottom wall 22. An outer edge 64 of the bottom corner flap 29 lies against the front wall 14 of the box. A transverse edge 65 extends over the full width of the bottom wall 22. A punched edge 67 of the bottom corner flap 29 bears against the box rear wall 15 opposite the outer edge 64. This configuration of the corner flaps 28 and 29 provides the hinged box with additional transverse stiffening in the area of the bottom wall 22 and end wall 23.

A punched cutout 44, 45 is formed between the corner tabs 28, 29 on the one hand and the respective outer side tabs 25 or cover side tabs 26. In this area, the end wall 23 and the bottom wall 22 are exposed to form a bevel 46, 47. The end wall 23 and the bottom wall 22 are given a contour corresponding to the cross-sectional shape of the hinged box. The exposed bevels 46, 47 suitably abut the upright walls of the hinged box, namely the material strips 36 in the area of the lid 11 and the box part 10.

The collar 12 (Fig. 4) is adapted to the shape of the packaging. A collar front wall 48 is separated from adjacent collar side tabs 49, 50 by two parallel fold lines 51, 52. These can be marked by embossing or - as in Fig. 4 - by die cuts. A material strip 53 is formed between the fold lines 51, 52, analogously to the material strip 36.

The collar 12 formed in this way sits in the usual way in the upper region of the box part 10 with connection to the inside of the box front wall 14 and the box side walls 18, 19. An upper part of the collar 12 protrudes out of the box part 10. The collar 12 is, in keeping with the design of the hinged box, also provided with bevelled edges between the front wall 48 and the side flaps 49, 50 of the collar. The collar side tabs 49, 50 extend to the back wall 17 of the box (FIG. 2).

7 to 11 show details of a hinged box which is designed analogously to the exemplary embodiment described, but with front edges 30, 31 in the form of round edges 54, 55. The cross section of these round edges 54, 55 corresponds approximately to that of a quarter circle, specifically in the dimensions adapted to the diameter of a cigarette. The cigarette block 13 can thus be positively accommodated in the hinged box in the front area.

The blank (FIG. 9, FIG. 10) is designed analogously to the described exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 3 and 6. The round edges 54, 55 are defined by an embossing strip 56, which consists of a number of parallel longitudinal grooves. This applies to the area between the box front wall 14 on the one hand and the side tabs 25 on the other hand and to the area between the lid front wall 16 and the lid side tabs 26.

The dimensions of the side tabs 24..27 correspond to those of FIG. 4. At the front of the hinged box, the inner side tabs 24 extend to the embossing strips 56 without covering them. The outer side tabs 24 extend to the right-angled rear edges 32, 33.

The area of the end wall 23 (FIG. 8) and the bottom wall 22 (FIG. 11) is designed analogously to FIGS. 2 and 6. The oblique corners are replaced by a round corner 57 corresponding to the cross-sectional contour of the round edges 54, 55. In the folded position, the corner flaps 28 and 29 each extend over the full width of the end wall 23 and bottom wall 22. End wall 23 and bottom wall 22 are on the Front of the pack facing corners formed with rounded portions 58, 59. These rest positively on the upright round edges 54, 55 of the box part 10 and the lid 11.

In a different way, the lid inner tab 60 is designed here. This is wider in the transverse direction than the corresponding dimension of the cover front wall 16. Laterally projecting wings 61, 62 are provided with embossments or punchings 63 in the longitudinal direction. In the finished hinged box (FIG. 8), these wings 61, 62 lie in the area of the round edges 54, 55 on the inside in the lid as a support.

The collar 12 for the hinged box with round edges 54, 55 is designed analogously to the collar 12 of FIG. 5. An embossing strip is formed between the collar front wall 48 on the one hand and the collar side tabs 49, 50 on the other hand, corresponding to the embossing strip 68 to form round collar edges which abut the round edges 54, 55 on the inside.
