Definitions
- the invention refers to a new use of re-usable contact adhesives to achieve a binding of documents in a practically instantaneous manner, as well as the obtained folder.
- This use of the re-usable contact adhesive allow the obtention of binding folders only with the application of a contact adhesive strip on a bristol board or similar laminate body.
- re-usable contact adhesives specifically within the stationary field, are exclusively used for a specific type of adhesive labels and for specific types of envelopes which permit their being opened for inspection of their contents, after which the envelope is reclosed.
- DE-A-4 125 661 discloses a strip of re-usable adhesive.
- the object of the invention is to give the re-usable contact adhesives a new practical use, based on which binding of documents in a rapid, simple, clean and economical manner is achieved, without using tools, mechanical elements or heat fusion gums, being based on the other hand on the disposition of a contact adhesive strip on what may be considered as the spine of a folder formed by a simple bended bristol board by a transversal and central line, in such a way that attaching, by means of heating, a contact adhesive strip on this spine, a folder is obtained which permits the binding of any type of documents, only with the introduction of these and pressing them against the strip which is going to constitute the internal surface of the folder spine which is thus obtained, remaining, these documents, perfectly binded with the possibility of being freed for other uses, without any type of problems.
- the gum or contact adhesive strip attached on the folder spine offers a smooth and continuous surface which ensures perfect adhesion of the edges of the sheets or documents throughout all its length.
- the said strip may be of reduced width for binding a minimum number of sheets, or may reach a considerable width for binding numerous documents or sheets and even form thick volumes.
- the central gum or contact adhesive strip may sometimes be complemented with two lateral strips as help for a better backing to the first and last sheets, being very useful, especially in thick volume folders, which, when opened by its center may displace these sheets at the ends.
- the commercialization of the folders is carried out by means of the protection of the gum or adhesive strip by means of a siliconed paper to avoid the contact with other folders or documents, when they are grouped up, in such a manner that at the moment of use of the folder, said siliconed paper is removed, leaving the actual strip on which the actual documents are to be attached by adherence, free.
- the self-adhesive material is susceptible of commercialization, applied in a bristol board backing, cardboard or any other material susceptible of backing the bound paper, all this in such a way that the said bristol board backing with the self-adhesive material may be commercialized in strips or piezes of which the user may divide into sections, parts with desired widths, to obtain a spine for a filing folder.
- these independent piezes or parts which are supplied and which the user may acquire allow the latter to cut the desired width of strip as willed, in order to form the spine according to the needs, with which these independent piezes shall carry continuous microgrooves in order that the user may cut the amount required and form his folder with the width of spine needed and in any case, shall always be protected by a siliconed paper to protect the self-adhesive material.
- Figure 1 Represents a practical application of a contact adhesive or gum strip, suitably attached on the transversal zone of a bristol board with two folding lines which are marginal to the actual adhesive strip, forming in general, a bound folder of sheets or documetns which are attached independently over the said transversal adhesive strip.
- Figure 2 represents a cross sectional view of a folder with the adhesive strip attached in correspondance with the internal surface of the respective spine and including a series of bound sheets in said folder by a simple attachment of the edge corresponding to the surface of the adhesive strip.
- Figure 3 represents independent pieces which may be commercialized for purchase by the user and from here, obtain, by means of cuts at the desired width, of the parts of spine required, observing how those parts are microgrooved in order to possibilitate the desired width of that section, and the strip or assembly equipped with siliconed protection paper.
- Figure 4 represents a bristol board formed by a cover sheet and back cover ana on the same is applied a backing part of bristol board to form a spine which is considered as the width.
- Figure 5 finally represents, the same cover sheet and back sheet of the previous figure with the already attached spine, forming what may be considered as a filing folder of considerable thickness.
- the new use of re-usable contact adhesives consists in the application of a contact adhesive or gum strip (1) over the central and transversal zone of a bristol board (2), marginally affected on the lateral sides of said transversla strip (1), of a pair of bending lines (3), delimiting in between the same, a spine so that the bending, through the said bending lines shall determine in general, what may be considered as a folder according to figure 2, in such a way that the adhesive strip (1) shall be attached by means of heat application so it remains suitably stabilized, making possible that over the same may be attached, through its borders, a plurality of sheets or documents (4), with the possibility of detachment and use as may times as desired, by which, in its assembly, is determined, a binding means for any type of documents with the cold adhesion strength, that is to say, without requiring heating means for achieving that said sheets or documents (4) remain attached to the adhesive stip (1), as convencionally required.
- strip (1) offers a smooth and continuous surface which ensures a perfect adhesion of the edge of the sheets (4), throughout all its length.
- the strip (1) may be completed with various strips, in lateral direction to the same, Mrting with the same, in better supporting the first and last sheets.
- the strip (1) may be attached in correspondence with the marginal zone of a bristol board, so that the user may be the one to apply the desired cover sheet.
- the commercialization of the folders formed by the bristol board or cover sheets (2) with the strip (1) shall include a siliconed paper band, which shall protect said adhesive coat or strip (1), removing the said laiminate the moment when use is going to be made of the folder.
- the strip may be commercialized by itself, protected with a pair of siliconed paper bands, covering both surfaces and the user shall be the one to free one of these siliconed bands, apply the band over a bristol board for the formation of the folder, with heat application, removing the other siliconed band when use is to be made of the folder for binding documents or sheets.
- the adhesive may be applied onto a bristol board backing (5) with parts delimited by the transversal lines (6), the length of which, shall correspond to the height of a filing folder, said parts (5) being microgrooved so that the user may cut them to the desired width and thus obtain the spine according to his requirements.
- said band or backing part (5) with the adhesive shall be protected with a siliconed paper (7) as has been previously indicated.
- Said band or backing part (5) shall be equipped on its rear side, that is to say, on the said adherred to the adhesive material folder which is not re-usable, optionally applied in the form of strips, thus allowing its adhesion to the folder or simply to the the flaps (9) of the cover sheets and back covers (2).
- said part (8) may be attached to the same, which has previously been cut to the desired width, the same being situated between the slots (9) with which these cover sheets (2) are equipped with to that effect, as has been represented in figura 5, where the spine is formed by means of said part (8) intermediated between the cover or front sheets (2) and logically equipped with the corresponding adhesive.
- siliconed paper which protects the part (8) may be divided in longitudinal bands which allow their detachment from said part in sections according to the use which is required to be given to the folder, that is to say, if more or less documents are required to be placed in its interior.
