Abstract

The burner has a combustion chamber (1), which is bounded by a wall (2a) with a window-like aperture (5) through which a nozzle (3) injects fuel, or a fuel mixture (4). The nozzle is arranged on the side of the wall which faces away from the chamber. The nozzle has a sliding or pivoting (8) mounting, and has an end wall or has an outlet opening with an end wall, which faces towards the chamber. In a first position this aligns with the aperture, and in a second position it is shielded by a wall, especially the wall which bounds the combustion chamber.

Description

The invention relates to a burner with a burner chamber, a wall delimiting the burner chamber having a window-like opening through which a nozzle injects fuel or a combustion mixture, the nozzle being arranged on the side of the delimiting wall facing away from the burner chamber.

With the burners used today, the injection nozzle is in constant contact with the burner chamber. If, for example, the burner is used in a particle filter system in which a filter filters out the soot from engine exhaust gases, and the soot deposited on the filter is burned off from time to time by the burner, the nozzle is also inoperative, i.e. between the burn-off phases or regeneration phases in constant contact with the burner chamber. The soot and dirt in the engine exhaust gases find their way through the window-like opening of the burner chamber through which the fuel, in particular oil, and air are injected into the burner chamber by means of the nozzle. It exists thus the danger that during the breaks in operation of the burner, the soot in the exhaust gases will dirty the nozzle and, in the worst case, clog it, so that burning of the soot on the filter is no longer possible. Extensive maintenance and cleaning work are then required to make the burner ready for operation again. If the nozzle is too dirty, it may be necessary to replace the nozzle completely, which increases the maintenance costs.

The object of the invention is therefore to provide a burner of simple construction and small dimensions and few parts, in which sooting or soiling of the nozzle is prevented during breaks in operation of the burner, thereby reducing maintenance costs and extending the service life of the burner. In addition, the nozzle should be protected against the heat radiating from the burner chamber during breaks in operation.

This object is achieved in that the nozzle is mounted displaceably or pivotably, such that in a first position the end face of the nozzle facing the burner chamber or the nozzle outlet opening is aligned with the window-like opening of the delimiting wall and in a second position the The end face of the nozzle facing the burner chamber or the nozzle outlet opening is shielded from a wall, in particular from the delimiting wall of the burner chamber. By moving or pivoting the nozzle, the nozzle is only aligned in front of the window-like opening of the burner chamber wall when the burner is started.

During the breaks in operation, the nozzle is advantageously positioned so that it is no longer in alignment with the window-like opening, but is separated or shielded from a wall, in particular the burner chamber wall, from the burner chamber. This prevents contamination or sooting of the nozzle during the breaks in operation and on the other hand, the nozzle is protected from thermal stress, which significantly increases the system security and the service life of the nozzle and additionally ensures constant burner output, since the nozzle is much slower or no longer sooty. As a result, the maintenance costs for the system are reduced, since the maintenance interval of the burner is essentially determined by the functionality of the nozzle. Slower soot fouling therefore means lower maintenance costs.

It is also advantageous if in the second position a part that can be pivoted with the nozzle seals the window-like opening of the delimiting wall. This ensures during the breaks in operation of the burner that no gases in the burner chamber can escape from the burner chamber through the window-like opening.

It is also advantageous if, in the first position, a nozzle holder rests on the wall delimiting the burner chamber and forms a space that is only connected to the burner chamber for the nozzle that is aligned in front of the window-like opening. It is thus always ensured that the fuel emerging from the nozzle or the combustion mixture only reaches the burner chamber. As a result, the space required for the nozzle is determined only by the dimensions of the nozzle holder. The space required can thus advantageously be reduced. The nozzle is preferably attached directly to the nozzle holder.

In the second position, the nozzle holder forms, together with the delimiting wall, an enclosed space in which the nozzle is arranged, as a result of which the nozzle is reliably protected against contamination during the burner's pauses in operation.

In order to obtain a particularly good seal between the nozzle holder and the delimiting wall, at least one seal, which is held in particular by a seal holder attached to the nozzle holder, is advantageously between the delimiting wall and the nozzle holder or the seal holder. The seal holder encloses the nozzle in the radial direction, whereby a wall is formed by the seal holder that is slightly higher than the nozzle, which results in a small distance between the front of the nozzle and the delimiting wall of the burner chamber.

In a preferred embodiment, the nozzle holder is mounted displaceably or pivotably on the limiting wall by means of a bearing and can be displaced or pivoted from one position to the other position by means of an actuator. The bearing consists of a round, in particular cylindrical, part which is fastened or molded onto the burner housing and which lies in a round recess in the nozzle holder. Such a bearing is particularly temperature-independent and also works when it is dirty. This prevents the bearing from becoming stuck, as a result of which the functional reliability of the system is high.

The object on which the invention is based is also achieved according to the invention if a plurality of nozzles are arranged on a nozzle holder and can be moved in alignment with the window-like opening of the wall delimiting the burner chamber by means of an actuator. For this purpose, the nozzle holder is movably mounted on the burner housing by means of a bearing, and the nozzles are arranged on an especially circular arc around the bearing. The nozzle holder lies against the wall delimiting the burner chamber and forms a space which is only connected to the burner chamber for the nozzle which is in each case in alignment with the window-like opening.

In addition, a sealing element and / or a sealing element holder can be advantageously arranged between the nozzle holder and the delimiting wall, which is attached to the nozzle holder and is movable with the nozzle holder, the nozzle holder together with the sealing element and / or sealing element holder and the delimiting wall For the nozzle in alignment in front of the window-like opening forms a space which is only connected to the burner chamber.

The sealing element holder is preferably designed such that each nozzle lies in a window-like opening of the sealing element holder.

By using several nozzles, an automatic change of the nozzles can advantageously be carried out as soon as a nozzle is blocked or sooty. This can e.g. happen automatically after a certain predeterminable operating time or sensors are provided which measure the efficiency of the combustion of the burner. As soon as the efficiency deteriorates below a predeterminable value, a change can be made.

Another advantage of using several nozzles is that nozzles of different sizes can be used with which burner output control can be achieved.

In all embodiments, the nozzle holder can advantageously be displaced or pivoted manually by means of a lever or by means of a pneumatically or electrically operated actuator. For this purpose, the actuator has signal transmitters which transmit the position or position of the nozzle holder or the nozzle (s) to a control of the actuator.

The object is also achieved according to the invention in that the window-like opening can be closed by means of a slide, the slide shielding the nozzle from the burner chamber. In this case, swiveling or moving the nozzle together with the holder is unnecessary. Only the slide has to be moved, which means that only a small drive is required. The slide can be moved or swiveled manually or by means of a pneumatic or electric actuator. For this purpose, the slide is advantageously mounted on the burner housing by means of a bearing.

In a further possible embodiment, the window-like opening can be closed by means of at least one flexible sealing part. The flexible sealing part opens the window-like opening only when fuel, air or combustion mixture flows through the nozzle, the flowing medium bending the tabs of the flexible part in the direction of the burner chamber. The fuel or the combustion mixture can then flow freely into the burner chamber.

If the fuel or combustion mixture supply is stopped, the parts, in particular tabs of the sealing part, return to their starting position and close the window-like opening, as a result of which no more soot or gas can escape from the burner chamber.

The invention is explained in more detail below on the basis of possible embodiments.

Figure 1a shows a burner with a burner chamber 1, which is limited by the burner housing 2. The burner housing 2 has a window-like opening on a wall 2a through which a nozzle 3 injects fuel or a combustion mixture 4. The nozzle 3 is fastened to a nozzle holder 6 which is pivotably mounted on the burner housing 2 or on the delimiting wall 2a of the burner housing 2 by means of the bearing 8.

A seal carrier 7 is attached to the nozzle holder 6. The seal holder 7 surrounds the nozzle 3 in the radial direction and, together with the nozzle holder 6, forms a nozzle space 13 in which the nozzle 3 is. The seal holder 7 has on its side facing the delimiting wall 2a grooves, not shown, in which sealing rings 7a lie and seal the nozzle space 13 from the outside. The nozzle chamber 13 is only in the first position, i.e. when the nozzle 3 is positioned in alignment with the window-like opening 5, in connection with the burner chamber 1.

The fuel is supplied to the nozzle 3 via a fuel feed line 9. Via a further feed line 10, the nozzle 3 and / or air or another gas are supplied to the nozzle chamber 13.

Gleichzeitig wird die Düse 3 von der begrenzenden Wand 2a vom Brennerraum 1 abgeschirmt.FIG. 1b shows a plan view of the underside of a burner, the nozzle holder 6 being connected to an actuator 11 via a joint 6a. By means of the actuator 11, the nozzle holder 6 with nozzle 3 and seal holder 7 can be pivoted from a first (FIG. 1b) to a second (FIG. 1c) position. In the first position, the nozzle chamber 13 is connected to the burner chamber 1. In the second position, the seal holder 7 closes the window-like opening 5 by means of the seals 7a, so that no gases can escape from the burner chamber 1. At the same time, the nozzle 3 is shielded by the delimiting wall 2a from the burner chamber 1.

In einer ersten Position (Fig.2a) fluchten die fensterartigen Öffnungen 5 und 12a des Brennergehäuses 2 und des Schiebers 12, wodurch der Brennerraum 1 mit dem Düsenraum 13 in Verbindung ist und Brennstoff 4 von der Düse 3 in den Brennerraum 1 gelangen kann.FIGS. 2a, 2b and 2c show a burner in which a slide 12 is arranged between the nozzle 3 and the burner chamber 1. the slider 12 is a substantially flat part which has a window-like opening 12a. The slide 12 is movably mounted between the limiting wall 2a and the nozzle 3 by means of an actuator, not shown. In a first position (FIG. 2a), the window-like openings 5 and 12a of the burner housing 2 and the slide 12 are aligned, as a result of which the burner chamber 1 is connected to the nozzle chamber 13 and fuel 4 can get from the nozzle 3 into the burner chamber 1.

In a second position (FIG. 2b), the slide 12 is displaced such that the window-like opening 5 of the delimiting wall is closed by the slide 12. The nozzle chamber 13 is now separated from the burner chamber 1 and no gases or soot can get from the burner chamber 1 to the nozzle.

Figures 3a and 3b also show a burner with a burner chamber 1 and a nozzle 3 attached in front of a window-like opening 5. In or in front of the window-like opening 5 of the delimiting wall 2a, a sealing part 14 is arranged, which is designed to be flexible and that during the Pauses in operation of the burner (FIG. 3a), ie, if no gas or oil is conveyed from the nozzle chamber 13 into the burner chamber 1, seals the window-like opening 5 in a sealing manner.
If, as shown in FIG. 3b, a combustion mixture 4 is conveyed out of the nozzle chamber 13 in the direction of the window-like opening 5 closed by the flexible sealing part 14, the sealing part 14 is bent open and the nozzle chamber 13 is connected to the burner chamber 1.

The sealing part 14 can also have flaps which can be brought into their closed position by means of springs. The flaps are movably mounted on the burner housing 2 or the edge of the window-like opening 5.
