Abstract

PCT No. PCT/EP94/02199 Sec. 371 Date May 16, 1996 Sec. 102(e) Date May 16, 1996 PCT Filed Jul. 5, 1994 PCT Pub. No. WO95/04661 PCT Pub. Date Feb. 16, 1995A felt-tip pen (1) for writing on posters or the like is inserted into an ink pot for refilling and keeping. In order to prevent the outer sides of the felt-tip pen from becoming soiled with ink, the felt-tip pen has an axial groove (12) parallel to the felt-tip (10) entered by a collar (22) that surrounds the opening (21) of the ink pot (20) when the felt-tip pen is inserted through the opening. This groove is designed in an intermediate piece (5) that bears the felt-tip and that is in turn inserted onto the cup-shaped end (3) of the handle with a second groove (11 ) of the same size as the first but oriented in the opposite direction. The felt-tip may thus be inserted on both sides onto the handle (2) and into the ink pot and at the same time it is well sealed in the ink pot.

Description

The invention relates to a device for inscribing posters and the like, consisting of an ink pot and a felt pen, the felt pen having a handle and a felt attached therein, which protrudes with one end from the handle. Such a device is known from DE 33 32 466 C2.

In the known felt-tip pen, the felt is held in an interchangeably attached intermediate piece on the handle and is in contact with a storage body in the handle. The intermediate piece is tapered towards the writing tip. The felt-tip pen can thus be inserted into a funnel-shaped opening of an ink cup until the tip of the writing felt is supported on an absorbent body arranged in the ink cup. The ink in the ink cup rises due to the capillary action in the absorbent body and soaks the writing felt supported on it. The ink also rises in this due to the capillary action, so that the supply body is also soaked in the handle. The ink supply used up in the felt-tip pen is automatically replenished during breaks.

When inserted into the ink cup, however, it often happens that the writing felt touches the wall of the funnel touched and smeared with ink. This is then transferred directly to the outside of the adapter. If you now touch the felt-tip pen in the next step in the area of the intermediate piece, you transfer the ink directly to your fingers.

Another disadvantage is that the felt-tip pen seals little or not at all in the funnel. If you choose the funnel too narrow, the writing tip will no longer reach the absorbent body because the felt-tip pen will get stuck beforehand and then also jam strongly. Ink can then no longer rise in the felt pen. It is also not possible to precisely match the dimensions of the funnel, intermediate piece, writing tip length and height of the absorbent body, because wear occurs on the writing tip and the absorbent body swells somewhat more or less depending on the amount of ink absorbed. In the known design of the felt-tip pen, a certain gap must ultimately be provided between the funnel of the ink cup and the intermediate piece in order to ensure the proper function. Since the felt-tip pen is usually kept plugged into the ink cup even when not in use for a long time, this gap naturally leads to the ink in the ink cup drying out. However, this not only results in the senseless loss of the ink, the evaporation changes the consistency of the ink, which affects the writing quality and the lag effect or even completely nullifies it. Depending on the composition of the ink, harmful vapors are also continuously released.

The object of the invention is to design a device of the type mentioned in such a way that when the felt-tip pen is inserted into the opening of a congruently shaped ink cup, a high seal is achieved without the felt-tip pen jamming in the receiving opening of the ink cup. Furthermore, the design of the felt-tip pen is intended to prevent the outer contour of the felt-tip pen from being contaminated with ink.

This object is achieved in that a concentric to the longitudinal axis of the felt is provided, which immediately surrounds the protruding end of the felt and is open towards this end, so that the felt tip pen can be inserted into an opening of an ink pot, wherein a collar surrounding the opening penetrates into the groove, and the writing felt hits an ink-soaked absorbent body before the collar reaches the groove base. This design ensures that ink smeared on the side of the opening of the ink cup cannot get onto the outer contour of the felt-tip pen because this outer contour is never inserted into this opening. Nevertheless, the felt-tip pen can be made quite slim, so that when it is used the view of the writing tip is not obscured. The groove and collar of the ink cup can run completely parallel to one another, with a small gap remaining on both sides of the collar. This effectively prevents jamming of the felt-tip pen, as occurs in the felt-tip pen according to the prior art due to the conical intermediate piece there. Despite this gap, a good seal is achieved because the gap between the collar of the ink cup and the felt-tip pen runs in a U-shape and thus forms a so-called labyrinth. For a labyrinth as long as possible, it is constructively advantageous if the depth of the groove is a multiple of its width. The labyrinth effectively prevents the ink from drying out in the ink cup when the felt tip pen is attached. If the collar on the ink cup is then arranged in a cylindrical depression, the inside diameter of which is only slightly larger than the outside diameter of the intermediate piece, a third sealing gap is obtained, which further increases the effect of the labyrinth. The labyrinth is then S-shaped without the need for additional material on the wear part of the felt-tip pen.

In the configuration of the felt-tip pen according to the invention, there is also effective compensation for wear on the writing felt and / or the absorbent body. The distance in the groove base to the upper end of the collar can be dimensioned quite generously to compensate for differences. The effect of the labyrinth is even significantly improved by a large distance at this point, since cross-section changes are generally desired in labyrinth seals in order to achieve the full effect.

There is an additional one for a felt-tip pen in which the writing felt is held in an intermediate piece which is exchangeably fastened to the handle and is in contact with a storage body in the handle The task is to design the intermediate piece in such a way that the felt can be used on both sides, is simple to manufacture and easy to replace.

This further object is achieved in that the intermediate piece consists of an inner and an outer sleeve which are arranged concentrically to one another, the sleeves being connected to one another by a central web, so that two identical grooves are formed, which are concentric with the longitudinal axis of the in the inner sleeve arranged, protruding felt felt on both sides, and that the handle is inserted and locked in one of the grooves. The locking can be achieved simply in that in the inner sleeve in the area of the web there is an inwardly projecting extension which locks the inserted felt. The felt is then pressed into the adapter. There is also a particular advantage if the writing felt protrudes equally far on both sides of the intermediate piece and is designed as a writing tip. This results in a completely symmetrical shape of the intermediate piece and the felt. The intermediate piece has two identical grooves pointing in the opposite direction. With the first, upper groove, it is pushed onto the congruently designed handle until the writing felt protruding into the handle meets the storage body there. The locking between the handle and intermediate piece is expediently realized by a clamp fit. With the other groove, it is placed on the ink cup as described above. As soon as the first one, out of the felt pen handle If the protruding side of the felt is worn out, the intermediate piece with felt can simply be pulled off the handle and rotated back on by 180 °. The second side of the felt is then available for use. The wearing part of the felt-tip pen, namely the expensive felting pen and the intermediate piece connected to it, can be used twice by the design according to the invention, whereby a 50% saving of these parts is achieved in addition to the functional advantages.

Further advantages result from the following description of an embodiment with reference to the drawing.

In the single figure of the drawing, a felt pen 1 with a handle 2 is shown. The handle 2 has a cup-shaped part 3 pointing downward, in which there is an absorbent storage body 4. An intermediate piece 5 is attached to the open end of the cup-shaped part 3. This intermediate piece 5 consists of an inner sleeve 7 and an outer sleeve 6, which are connected to one another over their half length by a web 8. In the area of the web 8, an extension 9 tapering to the central axis of the inner sleeve 7 is formed within the inner sleeve 7. A writing felt 10 is pressed into the intermediate piece 5 and is secured against axial displacement by the extension 9. The writing felt 10 protrudes equally far from the intermediate piece 5 on both sides and is designed at both ends as a writing surface 13 and 14. In the intermediate piece 5 are accordingly training described two equally deep grooves 11 and 12 were created, which are seen in the drawing up and down open. The intermediate piece 5 is pushed with its upper groove 11 onto the open end of the cup-shaped part 3. The wall thickness of the cup-shaped part 3 is dimensioned such that it clamps in the groove 11 and can only be pushed into it with a significant force. It is pushed in until the writing surface 13 comes into contact with the storage body 4. To compensate for length deviations, there is a free space in the base of the groove.

When using the felt-tip pen 1, the writing surface 14 will wear out and wear out. If the permissible dimension is exceeded, the intermediate piece 5 together with felt 10 can be removed from the cup-shaped part 3 of the handle piece 2 and turned through 180 °, as can easily be seen from the drawing, and plugged on again. Thus, the second writing surface 13 is then available for further use, while the worn end for transporting the ink rests on the storage body 4 in the handle 2. With this design, double-sided use of the relatively expensive writing felt is achieved.

During the periods of non-use, ie overnight and during work breaks, the felt pen 1 is placed in an ink pot 20, as shown in the drawing. For this purpose, an opening 21 is provided in the ink cup 20, which is delimited by a collar 22 standing vertically upwards. The collar 22 corresponds in its shape of the groove 12 of the intermediate piece, but is formed in a somewhat smaller wall thickness than the width of the groove 12 and in a somewhat smaller height than the depth of the groove 12. The collar 22 is fastened to a horizontal wall piece 23, which merges into a vertical wall part 24 which merges into a flat part of the one housing 25 of the ink pot 20 after almost twice the height of the collar 22. The vertical wall part 24 thus forms a depression 26 surrounding the opening 21. In the ink cup 20 there is also an absorbent body 30 soaked with ink, on which the writing felt 10 stands with its writing surface 14 so that it can suck up full ink.

When the felt-tip pen 1 is inserted into the opening 21, there is a fairly large distance from the vertical wall part 24, so that there is hardly any risk that the writing felt soaked in ink will come against this wall part 24. As soon as the intermediate piece 5 reaches the depression 26, the felt-tip pen is guided through the depression 26 on the intermediate piece 5 and passed precisely into the opening 21. The collar 22 penetrates into the groove 12 until the writing felt 14 meets the absorbent body 30 with its writing surface 14. There remains a free space above the collar 22 in the base of the groove 12 and below the outer sleeve 6 above the horizontal wall piece 23, so that tolerances and changes in length of the felt 10 are compensated for.

Although between all parts of the intermediate piece 5 and the ink cup 20 for easier handling certain play and thus an open gap is provided, a good seal of the felt-tip pen in the ink cup is nevertheless achieved by this design, because this gap runs S-shaped and thus forms a labyrinth. Gases that are lighter than air trap in the space above the collar 22 and form a barrier there. If gases occur that are heavier than air, they are trapped in the space below the outer sleeve 6. This type of seal is therefore equally suitable for different inks with all possible solvents.

If, when the felt-tip pen 1 is inserted into the opening 21 of the writing felt 10 against the inner surface of the collar 23 and ink is smeared there, it cannot reach the outside of the intermediate piece 5, but always only in the groove 12. The felt-tip pen 1 remains That is, on the outside, it is always free of ink, so that it is impossible to get your fingers dirty when handling it. Ink can only be transferred directly from the felt 10. It is not possible to grip the felt-tip pen 1 on soiled outer sides.

In the inventive design of the felt-tip pen 1 with intermediate piece 5, the special design of the intermediate piece 5 enables the felt to be used on both sides, and at the same time a good seal in the ink cup 20 is achieved with simple, non-clamping handling.
