Die so vorgestanzte Bahn 4,5,6 wird einer Umlenkrolle 11 zugeführt, die das Transportband 6 mit der daran haftenden Bahn 4 und der Beschichtung 5 einer nicht dargestellten Aufwickeleinrichtung zuführt. Es ist möglich, vor dem Aufwickeln, das Transportband und die daran haftende Bahn 4 zu trennen und getrennt einem Recycling-Vorgang zuzuführen. Wegen des kleinen Durchmessers der Umlenkrolle 11 folgen zwar die Bahn 4 und das Trägerband dem vorgeschriebenen Weg, doch heben sich die Dichtscheiben 1 wegen der Steifheit ihres Materials von der Oberfläche des Trägerbandes 4 ab und können so von einem angedeuteten Stempel 12 erfaßt und in die Öffnung 13 des Schraubverschlusses 14 für den Behälter 3 eingeführt werden. Der Stempel ergreift die jeweilige Dichtscheibe von der Kleberseite aus. Er ist vorteilhaft mit einem Material beschichtet, das zwar an dem Kleber haften, nicht jedoch mit ihm verkleben kann. Bei der Materialwahl für die Dichtscheibe ist ein gewisses Maß an Steifheit vorteilhaft, um den beschriebenen Effekt des einseitigen Ablösens der Dichtscheiben aus der Bahn zu zeigen. Der Durchmesser der Umlenkrolle 11 sollte dabei berücksichtigt werden. Claims (6)

  1. A method of sealing containers made of glass or the like with sealing discs which are pre-punched from a web and inserted in a closure at the bottom of the closure, wherein the pre-punched web is conveyed,
    characterised in that
    the sealing discs (1) are part of a web (4) made of a foamed plastic and coated with a pressure-activatable adhesive (5) which clings to the mouth of the container opening,
    that the side of the web (4) coated with the adhesive (5) is laminated to a non-adhesive supporting strip (6) which is detachable from the adhesive layer,
    that the sealing discs (1) are pre-punched from the side of the web (4) remote from the supporting strip (6),
    that the punching depth is less than the thickness of the coated web (4),
    that the laminated pre-punched web is conveyed in curved or rolled form,
    that the sealing discs (1) are detached at one side from the web (4) and from the supporting strip (6) by changing the direction of the strip (6),
    that the stiff sealing discs (1) which are detached at one side are picked up by one or more plungers (12),
    that each particular sealing disc (1) is inserted in a closure (14), to the bottom of the closure, with the side remote from the adhesive (5) foremost,
    that the closure (14) is placed on the container opening in such a way that the sealing disc (1) is pressed against the container opening (2) with the adhesive layer foremost and the adhesive (5) is pressure-activated in the region of the mouth of the opening, and
    that the adhesive (5) is cured without any heating action.
  2. A method according to claim 1 or 2,
    characterised in that
    the foamed plastic comprises polystyrene.
  3. A method according to claim 1 or 2,
    characterised in that
    the method is carried out is separate steps, namely
    that production of the web (4) coated with the adhesive (5) and laminated to the supporting strip (6) takes place in one manufacturing process,
    pre-punching of the sealing discs (1) in another process,
    detaching of the sealing discs (1) and their insertion in the closure caps (14) in a further process, and
    activation of the adhesive (5) by closing the containers (3) takes place in an ensuing manufacturing process for the product.
  4. A sealing disc for closing containers,
    characterised in that
    it is made of a foamed plastic coated with a pressure-activatable adhesive (5).
  5. A sealing disc according to claim 4,
    characterised in that
    it has tabs (15) or the like which jam in the closure (14) in which they are inserted.
  6. A closure for the closing of containers with a sealing disc according to claim 4 or 5,
    characterised in that
    the sealing disc is coated with a pressure-activatable adhesive (5) at the side towards the container (3).
