Abstract

Girder for the construction of shelves made up of a metallic profile (1) in V section, the V walls (2, 3) being of different height and finished off with various wings (7,8) situated at parallel planes and directed towards the same direction, wall (2) of greater height, proyecting at both ends from wall (3) of shorter height, giving origin to said transversal parts (4) which proyect below profile (1) and are equipped with tie-down lugs (5) and of a reinforcement dimpling (6).

Description

  • The present invention refers to a girder for the construction of shelves, which consist of a metallic profile of open section, which is finished off with end heads equipped with tiedown lugs.
  • More specifically, the girder of the invention is intended for the construction of shelves based on vertical uprights, girder and cross-beams, which connect and are related to each other by means of screws and tiedown lugs of the girders. Due to the weights these shelves must support, all the components must be of great strength and the inter-connection of great security.
  • The girders for the construction of these shelves are comprised of a metallic profile, at which ends variousa ngular parats at right angles are perpendicularly attached, by means of weldings through one of its branches or wings, these angular parts being equipped on the wing or free branch, with bended tabs or lugs, obtained by means of cuts, which make up the tie-down elements.
  • The assembly described requires cutting of the profiles in sections with desired length, cutting of the end heads parting from angular profiles at right angles, and the welding of these heads to the profile ends. All these operations, and mainly, that of the welding, supposes a considerable increase in the manufacturing process cost. Additionally, the welding operation eliminates the possible protection coating of the metallic parts, when they exist.
  • The object of the present invention is a girder of the described type, constituted in such a way that it allows the reduction of the manufacturing operations or stages, eliminating the welding operations, with the entailed advantages.
  • On one hand, it eliminates the most costly operation, which is the welding of the profiles which configure the end heads, thus obtaining girders at reduced cost.
  • On the other hand, since the welding operations do not exist, profiles eqipped with protection coatings may be used for the construction, without the risk of destruction.
  • An additional advantage of the girder of the invention, is that it eliminates the risk of possible welding defects, through which the weakening and fractur of the girder could be produced and with it, the collapse of the supported load.
  • The girder of the invention is constituted parting from one single profile, which permits the reduction of the necessary stock of materials, as well as the cutting operations, forming the girder by means of a process which may be practically, totally automatic, since it is formed on one single part.
  • In compliance with the invention, the girder for the construction of the shelves is constituted by a metallic profile of channelled angular section, with the walls of different heights, both walls being finished off with longitudinal wings. The wall of greater height of the profile is longitudinally prolonged at both sides, proyecting from the transversal edges of the shortest wall, at various transversal parts which are coplanar with the wall of greater height and project below the bottom of the channel. These parts are equipped with various rows of tiedown lugs, which run in perpendicular direction to the profile, thus defining the end heads of the girders.
  • With the object of achieving greater strength at the heads of the beam, the proyections of the wall with greater height are equipped, between each row of lugs and the commencement of the channelled profiles, with reinforcement dimpling.
  • The longitudinal wings which finish off the walls of the profile also serve as reinforcement elementos of the same, the wall of greater height being bended perpendicular towards the interior of the profile, whilst the wing of the lowest wall is bended towards the exterior of the profile in parallel direction to the opposite wall.
  • The tie-down elements are constituted by intermediate bended lugs obtained by means of cuts performed on the end proyections of the wall of greater height of the profile.
  • Henceforth, a more detailed description is offered of the girder of the invention, with reference to the enclosed drawings, in which a non-limitatiave example of embodiment is represented.
  • In the drawings:
  • Figure 1 is a perspective cross sectional view of a beams cosntituted according to the invention.
  • Figure 2 is a front elevation of the girder of figure 1.
  • Figure 3 is an upper plan view of the girders.
  • Figure 4 is a cross section of the girder, taken according to the cut line IV-IV of figure 2.
  • Figure 5 is a partial section of the girder taken according the the cut line V-V of figure 2.
  • As may be observed from the drawings, the girder is comprised of an open profile 1, of V section, whose walls 2 and 3 are of different height. Wall 2, of greater height, proyects longitudinally at both sides. parting from the transversal edges of wall 3 of shorter height, at various parts 4, coplanar with wall 3, which proyect below the bottom of the channelled profile 1. Each one of these parts 4 are equipped with a row of tie-down lugs 5, thus defining parts 4, transversal end heads of the cross-beam tie-down. In order to reinforce these heads, parts 4 are equipped, between the row of lugs 5 and the commencement of the channelled profile 1, with reinforcement dimpling 6, as can be better observed in figure 5.
  • The wall of greater height 2, is finished off at its free edges, between parts 4, with longitudinal wing 7 bended an right angle towards the interior of the profile. On its part, wall 3 of shorter height is finished off with wing 8 directed towards the exterior of the profile, which is parallel to wing 7 and of greater width that the same.
  • With the described construction a cross-beam made up of one single part, is obtained, in which the end heads 4 are made up of a proyection or transversal widening of one of the walls of the profile. The operations and manufacturing costs are thus reduced.
  • Dimplings 6 achieve the reinforcement of the end heads 4, whilst the longitudinal wings 7 and 8 act as reinforcement elements of the beam profile.
  • The panels may be interlocked between wings 7 and 8 preventing their involuntary displacement, otherwise, they abut on wings 7.
  • In the manufacturing of the girder of the invention, the welding operations are totally eliminated, so that if pre-varnished or pre-galvanized sheets are used, the girders may come directly from the formation line, without requiring paint or reworking.
  • Finally, with the described construction, the number of operations and manufacturing time of the girders are considerably reduced, making the product much more competitive.
