Breathing gas can leak out between the seal and the skin. Slits may also be provided in the upper part of the seal, so as to guide the sweeping air.
- FIG. 2 shows, by way of example, means for admitting the respiratory gas comprising a valve which can be placed partly on the edge of the shell 16 of the mask and partly on the seal 10.

- the user unlocks the screen by pressing the button 66, which acts on inclined sides of the locks 64, separates them from one another and drives them from the slide.

- the equipment In an airplane, the equipment is generally stored in a box within the pilot's reach. Outside the periods of use, the mask will be stored with the screen locked on it, so that in an emergency the pilot can place the mask-screen assembly on the face, have breathing oxygen in places provided for by the regulations in force and be protected against smoke. If the circumstances do not then require the wearing of the screen, the pilot can remove it. To avoid forgetting, the storage box is advantageously provided so that the mask cannot be stored there again until the screen is fixed on it.
