Eine solche Auslegung ist keineswegs selbstverständlich, denn Versuche mit einer tragbaren, batteriebetriebenen Hydraulikpumpe nach dem Stand der Technik in Verbindung mit einem gleichfalls handelsüblichen Handwerkzeug zum radialen Verpressen von Leitungsverbindungen haben gezeigt, daß der Preßvorgang wegen des großen Kolbendurchmessers des Hydraulikantriebes etwa 9 bis 10 Sekunden dauert. Da eine Bedienungsperson nacheinander eine Vielzahl von Leitungsverbindungen in gebeugter Haltung mit einem relativ sehr schweren Werkzeug verpressen muß, tritt hierbei rasch eine Ermüdung ein, so daß im Laufe der Zeit ein ungenaues Ansetzen des Handwerkzeugs zu beobachten ist. Die Dauer des Arbeitsvorganges ist bei dem gegebenen Betriebsparametern der bekannten tragbaren Hydraulikpumpe vorrangig durch den Durchmesser des Hydraulikkolbens im Handwerkzeug und durch den Hub des Kolbens bedingt. Nun hat sich überraschend gezeigt, daß eine entsprechende Verringerung des Kolbendurchmessers keineswegs zu fehlerhaften Leitungsverbindungen führt. Ganz offensichtlich werden die Preßkräfte durch die hohe Verformungsgeschwindigkeit begünstigt, und durch die kurzzeitige hohe Belastung des Elektroantriebs der Hydraulikpumpe wird auch eine Überlastung problemlos verkraftet. Umfangreiche Versuche haben jedenfalls gezeigt, daß bei einer Verringerung der Kolbenfläche auf etwa die Hälfte bei ansonsten unverändertem Übertragungssystem die gewünschten kurzen Verformungszeiten möglich sind, und daß dennoch in kurzer Taktfolge eine Vielzahl von Verbindungsvorgängen durchführbar ist.Such a design is by no means a matter of course, because tests with a portable, battery-operated hydraulic pump according to the state of the art Technology in conjunction with a commercially available hand tool for the radial pressing of line connections have shown that the pressing process takes about 9 to 10 seconds because of the large piston diameter of the hydraulic drive. Im Innern des Preßbackengehäuses 33 befindet sich ein Kreuzkopf 35 mit zwei Steuerrollen 36, von denen wegen des gewählten Schnittes nur die obere sichtbar ist. Die beiden Steuerrollen sind auf zueinander parallelen Zapfen 37 gelagert, deren Enden wiederum im Kreuzkopf 35 festgelegt sind. Der Kreuzkopf 35 steht mit der Kolbenstange 25 auf die gezeigte Weise in Verbindung und wird von dieser angetrieben. Das Preßbackengehäuse 33 besteht aus zwei schalenförmigen Hälften, die über eine Schraube 38 zusammengehalten werden. Jenseits der Zapfen 37 ist das Preßbackengehäuse 33 gabelförmig ausgebildet und mit einer diametral durchgehenden Ausnehmung 39 versehen, in die zwei doppelarmige Preßbacken 40 und 41 teilweise hineinragen. Die Preßbacken 40 und 41 sind auf zwei parallel zueinander verlaufenden Gelenkzapfen 42 und 43 gelagert und werden durch eine Druckfeder 44 in der gezeigten stabilen Lage gehalten. Die Gelenkzapfen 42 und 43 sind am Ende des Preßbackengehäuses 33 gelagert. Jenseits der Gelenkzapfen 42 und 43 wird zwischen den Preßbacken 40 und 41 ein Zangenmaul 45 gebildet, das zum radialen Verpressen sogenannter Leitungsverbinder dient. Um das Zangenmaul 45 öffnen zu können, besitzen die diesseitigen Schenke der Preßbacken 40 und 41 auf ihren Außenseiten weitere Griffflächen 46 und 47, mittels welcher die Preßbacken 40 und 41 von Hand weiter in die Ausnehmung 39 hineingedrückt werden können. Die Steuerflächen 48 haben in bezug auf die Werkzeugachse A-A die Wirkung schiefer Ebenen, d.h. unter der Wirkung der Steuerrollen 36 und der Steuerflächen 48 wird das Zangenmaul 45 mit großer Kraft geschlossen und der Preßvorgang durchgeführt.
