Abstract

A tear string envelope with the envelope made of an integral blank of sheet material and formed such that the front and rear portion of the envelope is interconnected by side flaps folded inwardly so that side edges and a lower and an upper folding edge are formed under leaving an upper insertion opening which can be closed by a gummed closing flap. The tear string extends at the inner side of an edge, with the tear string adhered at an edge different from that of the closing flap.

Description

The invention relates to an envelope with a cutting thread according to the preamble of claim 1.

Envelopes with a cutting thread can be opened more easily, safely and with less damage to the contents than conventional envelopes. For this purpose, a thread is guided along an edge in the inside of the envelope and one end thereof is guided outwards. The user can open the envelope in a defined manner by pulling the thread sideways away from the envelope without using an additional tool.

From US-A-1 385 493 an envelope has become known in which a cutting thread can be fixed on the fold edge of the envelope which is different from the sealing flap by means of rubber coating. One end of the cutting thread is led out and connected to a tab, which can be fixed from the outside against the envelope, for example also by means of rubber.

From US-A-2 956 727 an envelope has become known in which, according to a first alternative, the tear thread arranged on a folded edge is shaped as a flat strip, which is fixed in one end region by gluing. According to a second alternative, the envelope, in accordance with the preamble of claim 1, has a cutting thread, the opposite sides of which each have a layer of pressure-sensitive adhesive. The tear strip is led out of the envelope at one end and fixed on the outside by gluing. The use of a flat strip as a tear thread has also become known from US Pat. No. 2,954,916.

From US-A-3 139 231 a tear thread for an envelope has become known, the end of which is led out over a longer distance and to which a seal or the like can be attached for fixing the thread on the outside of the envelope. The marking thread is fixed, for example, over several holding areas on the envelope. The seal or flap, which has a characteristic contour, is so large that printing is also possible.

From US-A-1 821 011 a bag for powdery materials has become known, which is made from a one-piece blank of paper. A flat tube is first formed by means of a wall section and two side tabs, on which a tear thread, which is partially coated with adhesive, is placed under tension in order to press the tube against a base. Then a bottom flap, which was previously rubberized, is glued around the taut thread against the side flaps. Then the tear thread is cut off. In this way, it is outside the contents of the bag thus produced.

The invention has for its object an envelope to be designed with a cutting thread so that the cutting thread can be attached in a simple manner during the production of the envelope.

This object is solved by the features of claim 1.

According to the invention, the cutting thread is positioned and fixed simultaneously with the production of the blank for the envelope or the envelope, by soaking or coating the cutting thread with adhesive. A slowing down of the production process is avoided. The additional outlay on equipment is minimal and easy to integrate into the existing production, since the thread is attached to the existing one Investment. In this case, the adhesive advantageously has sufficient elasticity after the thread has been introduced and hardened in order not to impair the normal behavior of an envelope. The insertion of a self-adhesive thread has the advantage in a known manner that the supplied thread can pass through an impregnation device before cutting. In particular, if the thread lies in the envelope in such a way that it points in the feed direction during the manufacture of the envelopes, the thread can be fed in endlessly and cut to corresponding lengths, the length being able to proceed when the thread is already positioned. It then stays in place due to the adhesive effect and does not interfere with the subsequent folding of the flaps and further processing of the envelopes.

Furthermore, the advantage is obtained that the cutting thread is held securely until it is finally folded and therefore does not fall out. In addition, according to the invention, it is inserted tightly, which is advantageous in the tearing process.

The course of the cutting thread in the area of the gluing of the side flaps at both ends of the cutting edge ensures the correct position of the cutting thread before opening the letter, a proper transmission of the tearing forces while opening the envelope and allows a complete opening of the entire associated edge of the envelope.

In an advantageous embodiment, it is provided that the cutting thread is led out of the envelope on one side edge. Alternatively, it can be glued on the end. It can also be attached to a flat side near the end of the thread. This attachment is provided in the form of an adhesive dot or strip, for example a sticker or a solidified drop of an adhesive substance, which covers the preferably tightly lying thread. An adhesive strip can cover the entire length of the thread. Leading the thread out of the envelope makes it easier to grasp the thread. Fastening the thread section led out near the thread end enables the user to locate and grip the thread safely and secures the thread during transport. The way of attachment with the help of an adhesive dot or strip can also be used for advertising purposes, which inevitably draws the user's attention. This is reinforced by effective advertising design.

The end opposite the led-out end can optionally also be led out or remain in the adhesive area of the side flap. In the latter case, deflection and leakage in the adhesive area are possible. Another embodiment provides for perforating the envelope at the cutting edge in order to support the cutting with the thread.

According to the invention, the thread is formed in such a way that it is not raised than possible Folded edges of the envelope. This can be done by appropriate selection of a cutting thread material or by means of a band, the thickness of which is smaller than that of a folded edge and which is parallel to a cover surface with a broad side.

An embodiment of the invention is explained below with reference to a drawing.

From the single figure, FIG. 1 shows an envelope designed according to the invention from the back.

An envelope la with an adhesive closure flap 2a has glued side flaps. A cutting thread 4a is inserted on the inside on a side edge. This has the advantage that the thread can be fed in the feed direction and then, if necessary, can be cut off after positioning above the blank. The insertion and setting of the thread can therefore take place in the course of the envelope production, without having to change anything in the basic process. The thread 4a is self-adhesive. It is therefore soaked in a supply roll when it is unrolled before it is positioned and cut off. The self-adhesive thread 4a therefore holds itself during the further assembly of the envelope la and moreover enables it to be securely fastened, which makes tearing open easier.

The adhesive of the thread is chosen so that it does not become too hard and breaks after curing.

The inserted thread 4a is very thin, so that it after tailoring the envelope does not lead to a raised edge in the area of the thread.

The lead-out end of the thread is glued by a plate 6a made of paper or the like. It can be printed with advertising.

The thread 4a is soaked or coated with a suitable adhesive, this self-adhesive property of the thread 4a already unfolding when it is inserted, so that the thread can be positioned in this way so that it can be further processed in the envelope maintains its position. In the embodiment shown, the blanks for the production of the envelope 1a are shingled in a direction which runs transversely to the lower or upper edge.

To open the letter, the short end section is gripped and with its help the stop 6a is detached from the envelope la. Now the stopping point 6a serves as a comfortable handle for the cutting thread and is brought away from the envelope into the plane of the envelope. A movement of the adhesive point including the cutting thread in a direction parallel to the cutting edge causes the letter to be cut open. Due to the anchoring of the cutting thread 4a to the end, the letter can be opened completely.
