Definitions

  • the invention relates to a new type of ski, in particular alpine skiing, even cross-country skiing, advantageously but not limited to fitted with a non-planar upper profile. It also concerns manufacturing processes for this type of ski.
  • skis originally very traditional, since of section substantially rectangular or even trapezoidal, a significantly evolved to result in skis of variable shapes, which can in particular include a non-planar top, giving for example a triangular cross section.
  • the thickness limit of skiing capable of giving it resistance properties sufficient for maximum tensile and compressive stresses during of bending stresses, is of the order of 26 mm.
  • the neutral fiber is located approximately 40 % of the thickness of the ski starting from the sole.
  • the invention proposes to make a thick ski of material composite, capable of overcoming these ruptures and delaminations.
  • This ski whose thickness at the level of the skate is greater at 26 mm, is made in two main parts, that is to say comprising two subsets, respectively a main subset lower, and an upper secondary subset, extending substantially over the entire bearing length of the ski, the sub-assemblies being joined to one another by means of a sheet or plate made of a visco-elastic material.
  • an alpine ski comprising on the one hand, the ski itself and on the other hand, a stiffener, shorter than the ski contact surface with snow, and attached to part of the upper face of the ski, the ski proper and the stiffener further comprising at their interface a layer of flexible elastic or visco-elastic material to perform functions depreciation.
  • the stiffener used has the function of limiting bending and aims to oppose the excessive opening of the ski. It therefore fulfills only a function of bending adjustment, partially modified by the damping action of the plate visco-elastic material.
  • the ski according to the invention is defined in claim 1. It consists, over its carrying length, of two sub-assemblies superimposed, secured to each other via an interface constituted by a sheet or plate of visco-elastic material, glued over its entire length of these two subsets.
  • the sheet or plate made of material visco-elastic is located approximately at the level of the neutral fiber of the ski.
  • Neutral fiber is traditionally defined as the area at which cancel the compression and tensile stresses.
  • the interface between the two sub-assemblies is not flat, but can adopt any profile, for example in V reversed.
  • the two subsets respectively lower and upper, include all two a core made of polyurethane, or one of polyurethane and the other of wood, or of other alternative materials, each core having at least one element of reinforcement constituted either by a fabric or a layer of fibers of green, carbon or of aramids (KEVLAR - Registered trademark), either by a prepreg metal strip a thermosetting resin, in particular with a view to promoting its bonding.
  • Each of the sub-assemblies advantageously consists of a core surrounded by a sheath woven material, advantageously pre-impregnated with a thermosetting resin, such than an epoxy resin.
  • the strip of visco-elastic material is flush laterally at the edges of the ski.
  • the two subsets as well as the intermediate element constituted by the visco-elastic material plate are included in a shaped shell, supporting the decor.
  • the invention also relates to a method for producing such a ski.
  • This process defined in claim 8 is characterized in that the lower sub-assembly previously produced according to the shape final, is placed in a mold in the form of the sole and square elements, then in that one proceeds to the establishment of the sheet or web of visco-elastic material, then in that these elements are capped by a shell comprising, at the level of its upper internal face of the reinforcing elements, and finally, in that one proceeds to injecting polyurethane to form the upper core inside the space formed between the shell and the sheet of visco-elastic material.
  • the sheet of visco-elastic material is covered with a reinforcement strip prior to the injection of polyurethane.
  • Figure 1 is a schematic perspective representation of a ski with variable profile implementing the invention.
  • FIGS. 2 and 3 are schematic representations in cross section of a ski with traditional profit, in two different embodiments, in accordance with the invention.
  • FIGs 4 and 5 are schematic representations of cross section of the ski shown in Figure 1, also according to two different embodiments.
  • FIG. 6 is a schematic representation in cross section of a ski, according to the profile of FIG. 1, during molding, produced according to another method of producing the invention.
  • Figure 7 is a schematic representation in cross section of a ski, in progress molding, carried out according to another method of carrying out the invention.
  • the ski shown in FIG. 1 firstly has a sole gliding (1), extending between its two ends, respectively posterior (2) (heel) and anterior (3) (spatula).
  • This ski can be hull total, that is to say, covering the ski from one edge to another, such that in addition shown in Figures 2 and 4, or partially hulled ( Figures 3 and 5), or on the contrary more traditional and, in this case includes side edges.
  • the ski represented in FIG. 1 has a particular profile, for elsewhere described in French Application No. 93.06807 of the Applicant, since its upper face (4), which in the present case should be understood as being the area extending from the upper end of a side edge to the other when these exist, or directly from a metal square to the other when it is a hull ski, is in relief and has at least an upper edge (5), in fact defining two slopes respectively (6) and (8), inclined relative to the plane of the surface of the sole.
  • any cross section of this type of ski is substantially shaped triangular, as can be seen in Figures 4, 5, 6 and 7.
  • the thickness of this ski in particular at the level of the pad (9), that is to say the most central area thick of the ski at the level of which the bindings are installed, is greater than 26 mm, and for example 28 mm at its thickest point.
  • the internal structure of the ski basically comprises two subsets each comprising a core, respectively (11) and (12), extending over the entire bearing length of the ski, joined together, in particular by gluing, at their common interface, said interface further receiving a sheet or plate (16) of viscoelastic material.
  • the carrying length of a ski is defined as the distance on the sole separating the two front (23) and rear (24) contact lines ski.
  • the two subsets integrating the cores (11) and (12) are thus susceptible, by the existence of this sheet or plate of visco-elastic material (16), to move very slightly relative to each other, in other words to allow shearing movement of the part upper of the ski compared to the lower part, without cause rupture or delamination phenomena, which skis previously known did not make it possible to obtain, taking into account the stiffness of the stacks, therefore the elastic relative non-shearing, say no destructive.
  • the two cores (11) and (12) are made of polyurethane, each of said cores being surrounded by a fabric sheath respectively (14) and (15), playing the role of reinforcing element, and constituting with said cores (11, 12) the lower and upper subsets.
  • Polyurethane cores can advantageously be carried out before the actual production of the ski, either by machining or by injection in a specific mold.
  • the ski itself said is finalized at the level of a mold, in which are first put in place the sole (1), typically made of polyethylene and two lateral metal edges (10).
  • the first core (11) provided with its sheath fabric (14) pre-impregnated with a thermosetting epoxy resin is then placed on the sole (1) between two vertical edges (7).
  • the visco-elastic material interface (16) is then placed flat on the upper face of the core (11) and the edges (7).
  • the upper core (12) also provided with a fabric sheath (15) previously pre-impregnated with a thermosetting resin, in particular an epoxy resin, on said interface (16).
  • the set is then covered for example with a shaped shell (13), supporting the decor.
  • the mold is then closed and brought to temperature so as to lead to a quasi-liquefaction of the prepreg resins, to develop their bonding properties, and thus ensure the cohesion of the whole.
  • the ski is a section ski typically trapezoidal.
  • this ski can be profiled rectangular as described in figure 3, or again, with variable profile as shown in Figures 1, 4, 5, 6 and 7, and so present a triangular section, the dimensional characteristics of each faces are likely to vary throughout the ski.
  • the visco-elastic material is not necessarily flat and parallel to the sole (1), as shown in FIGS. 2, 3 and 4, but can adopt a particular profile more suited to the profile skiing as shown in Figure 5.
  • the interface (16) of visco-elastic material adopts such a shape that it allows its positioning at the neutral fiber of the ski, in order to optimize the shear conditions of the ski itself when the ski is heavily used so as to, on the one hand, reduce the risks of delamination, and on the other hand, increase the characteristics of ski reactivity.
  • the properties, especially mechanical properties of the interface film (16) made of visco-elastic material are likely to vary depending on its positioning along the length of the ski, to facilitate the phenomenon of shear in areas of greatest stress.
  • the edges of the reinforcing element (22) are not in contact with the reinforcing element (18) and a fortiori the interface (16), so as to create at this level a discontinuity of the reinforcements, to facilitate the shearing phenomena of the sub-assembly higher than the lower subset on either side of the interface (16,18).
  • the outer shell (13) includes the two sub-assemblies lower and upper, without showing a break, i.e. discontinuity at the interface (16) (see Figures 2, 4, 6, 7), the shear occurring at said viscoelastic interface (16) is taken up by the plasticity of the material making up the shell: polyethylene, ABS, etc ......
