Zur Erhöhung der Fälschungssicherheit wurde auch bereits vorgeschlagen, derartige aluminiumbedampfte Sicherheitsfäden mit einer Mikroschrift zu versehen (DE-OS 14 46 851). Dies hat sich aber in der Praxis als wenig sinnvoll herausgestellt, da diese Schrift auf dem sonst undurchsichtigen Sicherheitsfaden im Durchlicht nicht und im Auflicht nur sehr schwer erkennbar ist. Kleine metallische Bereiche, wie die in der EP-OS 0 279 880 beschriebenen metallischen Schriftzeichen sind zwar im Auflicht weniger wahrnehmbar, aber auch im Durchlicht schwer auffindbar, so daß eine Überprüfung dieses Echtheitsmerkmals erschwert ist. Das erfindungsgemäße Sicherheitselement dagegen ist aufgrund des zu ca. 50 % aus opaken Bereichen bestehenden Hintergrundmusters leicht im Papier auffindbar und überprüfbar. Fig. 1 zeigt ein erfindungsgemäßes Sicherheitsdokument 1, hier eine Banknote, in die ein faden- oder bandförmiges Sicherheitselement 2 in Form eines Fensterfadens eingewoben ist, so daß der Faden in bestimmten Abständen, den sogenannten Fenstern 3, direkt an die Papieroberfläche tritt. Der Faden kann jedoch auch vollständig in das Papier eingebettet werden oder als vollflächig außenliegendes Element ausgeführt sein. Die Schriftzeichen oder Muster erscheinen dann erst im Anregungslicht farbig bzw. wechseln ihre Farbe, wenn der Faden z. B. unter UV-Licht betrachtet wird. Mehrere in unterschiedlichen Farben emittierende Lumineszenzstoffe erhöhen sowohl die gestalterische Möglichkeiten als auch die Fälschungssicherheit, da zur exakten Nachahmung die Analyse jedes einzelnen Lumineszenzstoffes notwendig ist.
