Abstract

La présente invention se rapporte à la biofiltration de gaz, et particulièrement, à un matériau de garnissage comprenant un matériau calcaire d'origine aquatique et à un lit de biofiltres (10) contenant un matériau calcaire d'origine aquatique comme le matériau de garnissage (20). Le matériau calcaire peut être dérivé d'une algue marine ou d'un sable calcaire marin, et de préférence, le matériau calcaire est dérivé du calcaire de lithothamnium. Le matériau de rembourrage (20) peut être constitué uniquement de matériau calcaire dérivé du calcaire de lithothamnium (20a) ou, dans une autre alternative, il peut comporter un matériau calcaire dérivé du calcaire de lithothamnium en ajoutant un matériau de garnissage connu sélectionné parmi la tourbe, le compost, les copeaux de bois, les fibres ou le coir (20b). Le matériau d garnissage (20) et le lit de biofiltres (10) de l'invention peuvent être utilisés pour épurer les effluents gazeux provenant d'installations industrielles, municipales et agricoles.
