Abstract

A two-part container closure, consisting of a cap part (10), which can be fixed on the container and has a passage opening, and a rocker lever which is fastened on the cap part so as to be pivotable between a first and a second position by means of a bearing arrangement and has a passage aligned with the passage opening of the cap part in the first position of the rocker lever, whereas the passage opening in the second position of the rocker lever is sealed off by the latter, the bearing arrangement comprising a pair of bearing journals which protrude on both sides of the rocker lever and engage in bearing depressions (23), aligned with said bearing journals, with tapered insertion openings (24) on the opposite side walls of a recess (11) in which the rocker lever is essentially held in the second position. The bearing arrangement furthermore comprises complementary catch projections and catch hollows (29), which are aligned with one another and can be brought into locking engagement with one another, on the bearing journals and bearing depressions (23) respectively, thus forming the axis of rotation about which the rocker lever can be pivoted. Each bearing depression (23) is formed at least along a part of its circumference by a web-shaped moulding (27), extending from the insertion opening (24), on the side wall (13) of the recess (11). <IMAGE>

Description

Die Erfindung betrifft einen Behälterverschluss gemäss Oberbegriff des Patentanspruches 1.The invention relates to a container closure according to the preamble of patent claim 1.

Such closures with rocker arms are known. For example, reference may be made to DE-PS 12 04 959 and 16 07 904. In the known closures, the journals of the rocker arms are received in a snap fit in the recesses of the cap part, in that the bearing pins have to be passed through insertion openings in the recesses which have a smaller width than the diameter of the pins. A considerable amount of force is therefore required for the insertion of the bearing journals, since the bearing recesses are formed by essentially rigid wall areas of a recess in the cap part, which can cause assembly difficulties. US-A-3 542 256, on the other hand, proposes that the bearing troughs should not be rigid in principle, but should be designed so as to be resilient by projecting projections on the side walls of the recess of the cap part which receives the rocker arm. This measure can be associated with a loss of the sealing function, in particular if the bearing journals are accommodated in the bearing recesses with a certain, for example production-related play and a pressure inside the container to be sealed in a movement of the rocker arm from the sealing relationship with a through opening in the cap part can create the connection to the inside of the container.

The invention has for its object to provide a container closure of the type mentioned, the sealing function is guaranteed despite lower demands on the manufacturing accuracy and the components can be assembled without difficulty.

The object is achieved by the features of claim 1. Thereafter, the rocking lever is fixed in rotation on the cap part not only by the engagement of the bearing pins in the bearing recesses. Rather, additional latching means are provided which engage with one another and exactly define the axis of rotation about which the rocker arm can be pivoted. The position of the axis of rotation is therefore not dependent on play between the bearing journal and the bearing recesses. The axis of rotation can therefore easily be predetermined such that the sealing surface of the rocker arm is pressed against the sealing surface along the passage opening of the cap part under prestress. This ensures that the sealing engagement is not lost even when the container is under internal pressure. The inventive mounting of the rocker arm enables the advantageous formation of at least a part of the circumference of the bearing troughs with a certain flexibility, even without a loss of sealing function, which facilitates the insertion of the bearing journal into the bearing trough through the insertion opening. The assembly of rocker arm and cap part is therefore simplified accordingly. Furthermore, lower requirements are placed on the fit of the seat between the bearing recess and the bearing journal, since the fixing of the rocker arm is essentially sufficiently secured by the latching means. According to a further development of the invention, the bearing trough can also create a free space in the recess of the cap part, which has an end section Can accommodate the cover plate on the cap part when the rocker arm is pivoted into the release position. The cover plate can be dimensioned sufficiently large that it largely covers the recess, including the bearing arrangement, to the outside in the closed position of the rocker arm. The bearing arrangement, consisting of the bearing pins and bearing troughs, is therefore not visible from the outside in the closed position of the rocker arm, so that the closures not only have an aesthetically pleasing appearance, but also contamination of the bearing arrangement as a result of leakages does not impair this appearance. According to another development of the invention, the cover plate can also have a manual operating edge for pivoting the rocker arm.

  • Fig. 3 und 4 in vergrösserter Seiten- bzw. Vorderansicht den Kipphebel des Verschlusses.
The invention is explained in more detail below using an embodiment and the drawing. Show it:
  • 1 is a partially sectioned view of a container closure according to the invention,
  • 2 in longitudinal section the cap part of the closure,
  • 3 and 4 in an enlarged side and front view, the rocker arm of the closure.

As shown in FIG. 1, the closure for a container or a bottle, not shown, comprises a cap part bearing the general reference number 10 and a rocker arm bearing the general reference number 100, which is relative to the cap part between a first one shown by solid lines in FIG. 1 or closed position and a second or release position shown by dash-dotted lines in Fig. 1 is pivotable.

As FIG. 2 shows, the cap part 10 can have a basically cup-shaped configuration, but other suitable shapes are also possible. Provided in the top of the cap part 10 is a recess or cavity 11 which is adapted to the space required by the rocker arm 100 and in which the rocker arm 100 is essentially accommodated in the closed position. The recess 11 is defined by a bottom wall 12, opposite side walls 13 and outer and inner end walls 14 and 15, respectively, and is otherwise open at the top. The side walls 13 can be offset towards one another from an intermediate point, so that the recess 11 can have a T-shaped configuration in plan view.

A through opening 16 is provided in the bottom wall 12 of the recess 11, which can be surrounded by a sealing surface 17 with a curvature that is adapted to the curvature of a complementary sealing surface 101 on the rocker arm 100. If desired, an annular sealing lip can also be provided along the passage opening 16.

As further shown in FIG. 2, a collar 20 is formed at an intermediate location of a cap peripheral wall 19 at a radial distance therefrom, on the inside of which a thread 21 is provided, which corresponds to a thread on the neck of a container (not shown) around the cap part 10 to attach to the container. A lower extension 22 of the cap circumferential wall 19 can be provided in order to form a sealing cone which, when the cap part 10 is screwed on, engages sealingly in the mouth opening of the container neck.

However, it goes without saying that the invention is not restricted to the described manner of fastening the cap part 10 to the container, but rather, for example, also the thread on the Inside of the cap peripheral wall 19 could be provided. Also, instead of a screw connection, the cap part 10 could be attached to the container in a force-locking manner by bouncing.

On a region of the side walls 13 of the recess 11 which is adjacent to the inner end wall 15, bearing troughs or pockets 23 which are opposite one another and are provided and are designed such that correspondingly aligned bearing journals 102, cf. 4, which protrude from the rocker arm 100 on both sides, can be rotatably received. Each bearing recess 23 has an upward-pointing insertion opening 24 with a width that is suitably smaller than the diameter of the bearing journal 102, so that it can be pressed into the bearing recess 23 through the insertion opening 24 with a certain external force and is subsequently held therein.

Each bearing trough 23 is along a first part of its circumference through a wall region of the side wall 13 of the recess 11, which is thus essentially rigid, and along a second part of its circumference, which continuously adjoins the first part and extends to the insertion opening 24, formed by a web-like projection 27 on the side wall 13, which is at a suitable distance from the inner end wall 15 and has a certain flexibility, which facilitates the insertion of the bearing pin 102 into the bearing recess 23.

The web-like projection 27 also creates a free space 28 in front of the inner end wall 15 of the recess 11, in which an inner end portion 104 of a cover plate 103 of the rocker arm 100 can be accommodated, if this of the Closing is pivoted into the release position, which will be discussed in more detail below.

According to the invention, a e.g. hemispherical locking recess 29 is provided in the side wall 23 of the recess 11. The opposite locking recesses 29 are aligned with one another and can receive complementarily shaped, aligned locking projections 105 on the end faces of the bearing pins 102 of the rocker arm 100 when the bearing pins 102 are received in the bearing recesses 23 of the cap part 10. The locking recesses 29 and locking projections 105 define the axis of rotation about which the rocker arm 100 is pivotable. The axis of rotation can be at a suitable distance from the sealing surface 17 of the recess 11, so that the sealing surface 101 of the rocker arm 100 is pressed with a suitable pretensioning force against the sealing surface 17 of the cap part 10, without the rotational mobility of the rocker arm 100 being significantly restricted thereby.

The rocker arm 100 comprises a tubular base part 107 which is axially penetrated by a through bore 106 and which ends on the inside at a cylindrical section 108 which forms the sealing surface 101 and is likewise penetrated by the through bore 106. On the end faces of the bearing pins 102 projecting laterally from the cylindrical section 108, the locking projections 105 are provided, which can engage in the locking recesses 29 of the cap part 10.

The rocker arm 100 also carries on its upper side the cover plate 103, which extends from the cylindrical section 108 to the free end of the tubular base part 107 extends and can have a dimension that in the closed position of the rocker arm 100, the recess 11 of the cap part 10 is substantially covered outwards, the cover plate 103 being able to align with the top of the cap part 10. In particular, in the closed position of the rocker arm 100, the bearing arrangement consisting of the bearing pins 102 and bearing troughs 23 can be covered to the outside by the cover plate 103, so that the closure has an aesthetically pleasing appearance and any contamination from leaks in the area of the bearing arrangement cannot be covered to the outside in Appearance.

Fig. 1.As a result of the free space 28 between the inner end wall 15 of the recess 11 of the cap part 10 and the adjacent web-like projection 27, the pivoting movement of the rocker arm 100 into the release position is not impeded by the cover plate 103, since the end section 104 of the cover plate 103 is received by the free space 28 can, if the rocker arm 100 is pivoted into the release position, cf. Fig. 1.

It should also be pointed out that a section 109 of the cover plate 103 protruding beyond the free outer end of the tubular base part 107 facilitates the handling of the rocker arm, e.g. the thumb of one hand can be attached.

The invention has been described above with reference to a preferred embodiment. However, it is not limited to this. So it goes without saying that instead of the hemispherical locking projections on the rocker arm and the complementary locking recesses on the cap part also vice versa, the locking projections on the cap part and the locking recesses on Rocker arms can be provided. In addition, the locking recesses / projections can also have a suitable configuration other than the hemispherical one. Furthermore, if desired, each bearing trough can be formed in its entirety by a web-like formation similar to that described, which creates a particular flexibility for the introduction of the bearing pins into the bearing troughs.
