- a vacuum drum 23 receives the cut label 8 from the cutter unit 2, transports the label past a glue drum 24 which applies glue to the cut label 8 and as the vacuum drum 23 continues to rotate the glued label 8 is brought into contact with one of the containers 10 and as the container 10 rotates past the vacuum drum 23, the glued label 8 is applied to the surface of the container 10.
- the cutter unit 2 comprises a cutter drum 30 mounted on an axle 31 which has a gear 32 attached to the end remote from the drum 30.
- a rotating cutter blade 33 is mounted adjacent the drum 30 to cut each label 8 from the strip of labels.
- the vacuum drum 23 is mounted on an axle 34, the remote end of which is connected a drive mechanism (not shown) which rotates the axle 34.
- a gear 35 is rotationally fixed to the axle 34 so that engages and co-operates with the gear 32 on the axle 31 of the cutter drum 30.
- the vacuum drum 23 has three raised sections 36 on its surface which have openings (not shown) therein which enable labels to be held on the raised sections 36 by means of a suction or vacuum applied to the interior of the vacuum drum 23.
- the radius R VG of the vacuum drum gear 35 is less than the radius R VD of the raised sections 36 of the vacuum drum. Hence, the surface speed of the sections 36 is greater than the speed of the gear 35.

- This difference in surface speeds helps to creasing or wrinkling of the label as it is transferred from the cutter drum to the vacuum drum.

Claims (8)
- Gerät für die Beförderung eines flexiblen Materialstreifens mit einer ersten und einer zweiten aneinander angrenzenden beweglichen und so ausgerichteten Fläche, daß sie den Materialstreifen direkt von einer, eine Seite des Streifens berührenden Fläche zu der nächsten, die andere Seite des Streifens berührenden Fläche zuführt, dadurch gekennzeichnet , daß Antriebsvorrichtungen vorhanden sind, die die erste bewegliche Fläche bewegen; und eine Antriebskupplung zwischen der ersten beweglichen und der zweiten beweglichen Fläche, um die zweite bewegliche Fläche zu bewegen, wenn die Antriebsvorrichtung die erste, sich in Gebrauch befindliche erste bewegliche Fläche bewegt, wobei die Geschwindigkeit der zweiten beweglichen Fläche mit der Geschwindigkeit der ersten beweglichen Fläche nicht identisch ist, und wobei der flexible Materialstreifen von der sich langsamer bewegenden Fläche der sich schneller bewegenden Fläche zugeführt wird.
- Gerät nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet , daß die beweglichen Flächen durchgehend sind.
- Gerät nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet , daß die beweglichen Flächen aus den gebogenen Flächen zweier zylindrischer Trommeln (23, 30) bestehen.
- Gerät nach den vorhergehenden Ansprüchen, dadurch gekennzeichnet , daß die beweglichen Flächen aus einer Aufnahmefläche (36) sowie einer Zuführfläche bestehen.
- Gerät nach den vorhergehenden Ansprüchen, dadurch gekennzeichnet , daß die Antriebskupplung aus zwei zusammenwirkenden Getrieben (32, 35) besteht, wobei ein Getriebe mit jeder beweglichen Fläche verbunden ist.
- Gerät nach Anspruch 5, dadurch gekennzeichnet , daß es sich bei den beweglichen Flächen um zylindrische Flächen handelt, wobei der Radius des mit der sich langsamer bewegenden Fläche verbundenen Getriebes (32) größer ist als der Radius der sich langsamer bewegenden Fläche, und der Radius des mit der sich schneller bewegenden Fläche (36) verbundenen Getriebes (35) geringer ist als der Radius der sich schneller bewegenden Fläche.
- Gerät nach den vorhergehenden Ansprüchen, dadurch gekennzeichnet , daß die Differenz der Geschwindigkeiten zwischen den beweglichen Flächen weniger als 10 % beträgt.
- Gerät nach den vorhergehenden Ansprüchen, dadurch gekennzeichnet , daß es sich bei der sich schneller bewegenden Fläche (36) um die Fläche einer Vakuum-Trommel (23) und bei der sich langsamer bewegenden Fläche um die Fläche einer Schneidetrommel (30) handelt, und wobei es sich bei dem flexiblen Materialstreifen um ein auf einen Behälter (11) aufzubringendes Etikett (8) handelt.
