Definitions
- Some rules are made up of one-piece elements and therefore must be the desired length. They are held between the ceiling and the floor by a screw device called a jack. Others are telescopic and adapt to a greater or lesser height of parts. The telescopic part being immobilized in its sheath, the rule is blocked between the ground and the ceiling thanks to the pressure of a pre-compressed spring. The lower and upper end of these rules have ears or hooks that allow you to stretch a cord between the two ends of the rules. These hooks or ears are arranged on two perpendicular faces of the rule. This does not allow the correct positioning of the cords for the so-called salient angles.
- the current telescopic rules do not allow a very large part size; the operator must have access, simultaneously, to the extendable part to raise it, the foot located on a pedal in the lower part exerts the pressure used to compress the spring necessary for blocking between the ground and the partition and the other hand positioned in face of the blocking in order to achieve immobilization at the desired dimension. It is clear that the dimensions of the rules must be in agreement with the average heights of the operators who use them.
- Patent EP-A-0034 827 describes a telescopic rule capable of supporting cords and composed of an upper male part (2), of square section sliding in a lower female part (1) tubular, also square.
- the female part (1) constituting the lower part of the rule is split on one of its faces over its entire length; this slot being intended to allow the grip shape (5) of the male tube (2) sliding inside to pass.
- this telescopic rule comprises, at each end, a tip (7).
- This rule also includes a support crosspiece (2a) connected to the inner wall of the lower mast (1), a slide square tube (3) and a guide slat (2b) mounted on the upper mast (2).
- the object of the present invention is to remedy the above drawbacks.
- it In order to allow the operator, whatever its size, to be able to reach and act on the telescopic part of the rule, it consists, for its female part, of square tubes split in an angle, which thus allows the passage of the gripping form integral with the male part sliding inside the female part.
- the gripping form is located in the lower part of the male part and is integral therewith, it is therefore easy for the operator, after having unlocked the two parts, to raise the male part by lifting the gripping form, the operator having the foot supported on a horizontal form integral with the female part thus compressing the spring jack located in the lower part of this same female part.
- the eccentric device located in the upper part of the female part. This eccentric device, by action on a lever, allows either to move apart or to bring the two faces located on either side of the vertical slot of the female part.
- the form of gripping integral with the male part also serves as a limit switch at the end of the course in the upper part by abutting against the eccentric blocking device, this ensures minimal grip inside the female part and thereby avoids , a bending of the male element relative to the female element.
- this rule is equipped with two rubber tips located at each end of the rule.
- These tips have hollow shapes located on three vertical edges.
- metallic pieces appear, acting as attachment ears or hooks for the cords.
- These provisions allow, on the one hand, not to have the hooks or ears projecting from the general profile of the rule, therefore eliminating the fragility of these, on the other hand, to allow effective blocking of the cords in these forms since 'a part is metallic therefore rigid; the other part, that is to say the end piece, being a plastic or flexible element of the synthetic rubber type.
- These tips also serve to protect the high and low support surfaces when using the rules in constructions already made and finished, for example during renovation, extension.
- Figure 1 shows a perspective view of a telescopic ruler on the blocking side, guide slot and support corner.
- FIG. 2 shows a perspective view of a telescopic rule, side view hooks or ears for cords.
- Figure 3 shows a sectional view of a telescopic rule.
- Figure 4 shows a sectional view of the eccentric locking.
- FIG. 5 represents a perspective view, showing a rule in situation during the execution of a projecting corner angle.
- Figure 6 shows a cross-sectional view at the tip showing the position of the cord for the salient angles.
- Figure 7 shows a perspective view showing a telescopic ruler in use for a re-entrant angle.
- Figure 8 shows a sectional view at the end, showing the position of the cord for the inside angles.
- FIG. 9 represents a view in longitudinal section, of a nozzle showing the hollow shapes and the metal ears or hooks embedded inside.
- the telescopic rule consists of a female part (1) in which slides a male part (2).
- This female part comprises a blocking element (4) situated at its upper part and at its lower part by a support corner (5).
- the female part (1) is equipped with an end piece (3) at its lower part
- the male part (2) for its part, is equipped with an end piece (3) at its upper part .
- Figure 2 shows the position of the hooks or ears receiving the cords arranged along three vertical edges of the tips (3) located at each end of the rule.
- Figure 3 shows, in longitudinal section, all the main elements making up this rule.
- the male part (2) slides in the female part (1) and comes at the end of the lower stroke to bear on a stop (8); this stop (8) being integral with the support corner (5).
- the support corner (5) integral with the female part (1), allows the operator, by exerting a downward pressure on the foot, to compress the spring (9). This spring, by relaxing, will ensure, by pressure, the blocking of the rule between the floor and the ceiling.
- Figure 4 shows in section, the male part in the female part blocked by an eccentric device (4), this device serving to bring the faces (1a, 1b) on the male part (2), this approximation being possible thanks to the slot (6) made in the corner of this female part. Still according to this FIG. 4, we can clearly see the gripping form (7) integral with the male part (2) coming into abutment in the upper part on the blocking device (4).
- This arrangement ensures, as described above, a minimum fitting of the male part (2) into the female part (1) of the rule; on the other hand, prevents the male part from inadvertently escaping from the female part during transport or handling.
- Figure 5 shows the position of the rule for the execution of a salient angle and clearly indicates the use of hooks or ears located in the end pieces (3) at each end of the rule.
- Figure 6 shows, in section, the tip (3) highlighting the hooks or ears (10, 11, 12) emerging from the hollow shapes (13) formed in the same tip (3). These hooks or ears do not exceed the external profile of this end piece (3).
- the position of the hooks or ears (10, 11, 12) inside the end piece (3) therefore allows a position of the cord (16) connecting the ends of the rule always offset with respect to the layout of the partition, this offset between the line horizontal (17) and the partition bricks being necessary for the operator to properly align its construction.
- Figure 7 shows the use of a telescopic ruler during the construction of a partition making a re-entrant angle.
- the user uses the hooks or ear markers (10, 11, 12) to fix his cords (16) connecting the ends of the rules supporting the horizontal cord (17) allowing straightness of construction.
- FIG. 8 clearly shows, in the section of the endpiece (3), the position of the cord on the hooks (11, 12) and it can also be clearly seen that the hooks (11, 12) allow the cord to shift a few millimeters from the theoretical layout of the partition, which facilitates the placement of the brick elements and their alignment.
- FIGs 6, 8 and 9 show the principle of blocking the cord (16) connecting the ends of the rule between the hooks (10, 11, 12) and the end piece (3).
- This nozzle (3) is made of flexible materials such as synthetic rubber or the like.
- the hooks are metallic so offer a rigid part.
- These same hooks have an inclined face (15) whose inclination is different from that (14) of the end piece (3).
- These inclinations (14, 15) converge towards one another towards the axis of the hooks (10, 11, 12).

Description
Many models of rules, extendable or not, exist on the market and allow the plasterer to maintain a horizontal line between two rules positioned at the ends of a partition to be made; this cord serves as a guide for laying bricks.
Some rules are made up of one-piece elements and therefore must be the desired length. On the other hand, the current telescopic rules do not allow a very large part size; the operator must have access, simultaneously, to the extendable part to raise it, the foot located on a pedal in the lower part exerts the pressure used to compress the spring necessary for blocking between the ground and the partition and the other hand positioned in face of the blocking in order to achieve immobilization at the desired dimension. It is clear that the dimensions of the rules must be in agreement with the average heights of the operators who use them.
The female part (1) constituting the lower part of the rule, is split on one of its faces over its entire length; this slot being intended to allow the grip shape (5) of the male tube (2) sliding inside to pass. Finally, this telescopic rule comprises, at each end, a tip (7). This rule also includes a support crosspiece (2a) connected to the inner wall of the lower mast (1), a slide square tube (3) and a guide slat (2b) mounted on the upper mast (2).
These simple details highlight that the operation of this rule requires several operations for the alignment, tightening and tensioning of the spring and that, on the other hand, the complicated design of this device makes it possible to ask the question on the duration of its operation under the corrosive effect of plaster.
The object of the present invention is to remedy the above drawbacks. In order to allow the operator, whatever its size, to be able to reach and act on the telescopic part of the rule, it consists, for its female part, of square tubes split in an angle, which thus allows the passage of the gripping form integral with the male part sliding inside the female part.
The gripping form is located in the lower part of the male part and is integral therewith, it is therefore easy for the operator, after having unlocked the two parts, to raise the male part by lifting the gripping form, the operator having the foot supported on a horizontal form integral with the female part thus compressing the spring jack located in the lower part of this same female part. When the desired dimension is reached, it will suffice for the operator to block the male part relative to the female part, using the eccentric device located in the upper part of the female part. This eccentric device, by action on a lever, allows either to move apart or to bring the two faces located on either side of the vertical slot of the female part. The form of gripping integral with the male part also serves as a limit switch at the end of the course in the upper part by abutting against the eccentric blocking device, this ensures minimal grip inside the female part and thereby avoids , a bending of the male element relative to the female element.
On the other hand, this rule is equipped with two rubber tips located at each end of the rule. These tips have hollow shapes located on three vertical edges. In these hollows, metallic pieces appear, acting as attachment ears or hooks for the cords. These provisions allow, on the one hand, not to have the hooks or ears projecting from the general profile of the rule, therefore eliminating the fragility of these, on the other hand, to allow effective blocking of the cords in these forms since 'a part is metallic therefore rigid; the other part, that is to say the end piece, being a plastic or flexible element of the synthetic rubber type. These tips also serve to protect the high and low support surfaces when using the rules in constructions already made and finished, for example during renovation, extension.

According to Figure 1, the telescopic rule consists of a female part (1) in which slides a male part (2). This female part comprises a blocking element (4) situated at its upper part and at its lower part by a support corner (5). Still according to FIG. 1, the female part (1) is equipped with an end piece (3) at its lower part, the male part (2), for its part, is equipped with an end piece (3) at its upper part .
In Figure 1, we can clearly see the vertical slot (6) made in a corner of the female part (1). In this slot, can move the gripping form (7) integral with the sliding part (2).
Figure 2 shows the position of the hooks or ears receiving the cords arranged along three vertical edges of the tips (3) located at each end of the rule.
Figure 3 shows, in longitudinal section, all the main elements making up this rule. The male part (2) slides in the female part (1) and comes at the end of the lower stroke to bear on a stop (8); this stop (8) being integral with the support corner (5). The support corner (5), integral with the female part (1), allows the operator, by exerting a downward pressure on the foot, to compress the spring (9). This spring, by relaxing, will ensure, by pressure, the blocking of the rule between the floor and the ceiling.
Figure 4 shows in section, the male part in the female part blocked by an eccentric device (4), this device serving to bring the faces (1a, 1b) on the male part (2), this approximation being possible thanks to the slot (6) made in the corner of this female part. Still according to this FIG. 4, we can clearly see the gripping form (7) integral with the male part (2) coming into abutment in the upper part on the blocking device (4). This arrangement ensures, as described above, a minimum fitting of the male part (2) into the female part (1) of the rule; on the other hand, prevents the male part from inadvertently escaping from the female part during transport or handling.
Figure 5 shows the position of the rule for the execution of a salient angle and clearly indicates the use of hooks or ears located in the end pieces (3) at each end of the rule.
Figure 6 shows, in section, the tip (3) highlighting the hooks or ears (10, 11, 12) emerging from the hollow shapes (13) formed in the same tip (3). These hooks or ears do not exceed the external profile of this end piece (3). The position of the hooks or ears (10, 11, 12) inside the end piece (3) therefore allows a position of the cord (16) connecting the ends of the rule always offset with respect to the layout of the partition, this offset between the line horizontal (17) and the partition bricks being necessary for the operator to properly align its construction.
Figure 7 shows the use of a telescopic ruler during the construction of a partition making a re-entrant angle. At this time, the user uses the hooks or ear markers (10, 11, 12) to fix his cords (16) connecting the ends of the rules supporting the horizontal cord (17) allowing straightness of construction.
La figure 8 montre bien, dans la coupe de l'embout (3), la position du cordeau sur les crochets (11, 12) et on voit bien, également, que les crochets (11, 12) permettent au cordeau un décalage de quelques millimètres par rapport au tracé théorique de la cloison, ce qui facilite la mise en place des éléments en brique et leur alignement.FIG.
This nozzle (3) is made of flexible materials such as synthetic rubber or the like. The hooks are metallic so offer a rigid part. These same hooks have an inclined face (15) whose inclination is different from that (14) of the end piece (3). These inclinations (14, 15) converge towards one another towards the axis of the hooks (10, 11, 12). These two concurrent inclinations make it possible to properly wedge the cord (16) connecting the ends of the rule, since by pulling on it, it automatically comes to be wedged between the flexible part of the end piece (3) and the rigid part of the hook (10, 11 or 12).
