Definitions
- the invention relates to a turntable as a seat for the disabled, with a base plate, a cover plate rotatably mounted thereon, a cushion mat arranged centrally on this and a circularly contoured retaining ring which overlaps this on its peripheral edge and is detachably fastened to the cover plate and also the outer edge of the Cover plate overlaps.
- the retaining ring here consists of a number of circumferentially lined up individual ring segments which have bottom-side locking pins which are detachably locked in corresponding holes in the rotatable cover plate. Thanks to this segmental construction of the retaining ring, production is inexpensive. Although the retaining ring could also be produced in one piece, there are then fitting problems because the cover plate must be made of a different plastic material than the retaining ring due to the required sliding properties and due to the different coefficients of thermal expansion, there would be fitting errors with regard to the exact latching of the retaining ring of the cover plate. A one-piece retaining ring would be preferable to simplify assembly and disassembly for cleaning.
- the object of the invention is to improve the turntable of the above type in such a way that any fit problems between the retaining ring and the cover plate can be avoided and the handling during assembly and disassembly of the retaining ring is simplified without negatively influencing the holding effect of the cushion mat on the cover plate.
- the outer edge of the cover plate has a regular polygonal contour with a plurality of equally long, at least approximately rectilinear edge parts, that the retaining ring is formed in one piece and has an axially sectioned, elastically deformable outer edge , which engages under the cover plate at least at the transitions between each two of its adjacent edge parts and rests against these transitions on the outer edge of the cover plate.
- the retaining ring requires only very little elastic deformability, because when the retaining ring is assembled, the outer ring is pressed over a few corners of the polygonal outer edge of the cover plate, the retaining ring being able to deform like a tendon in the neighboring areas of these polygonal corners , which results in a local increase in diameter of the retaining ring in the region of one or more adjacent corners of the cover plate.
- the corners between two at least approximately straight Edge parts of the cover plate are preferably rounded.
- the new turntable is further characterized in that the outer edge of the retaining ring rests on a plurality of spaced apart areas on the cover plate and a gap is formed between each of such contact areas between the retaining ring and cover plate.
- the width of this gap changes continuously in the circumferential direction. It is zero in the area of the polygon corners, then rises steadily to the middle of the straight edge parts of the cover plate and then gradually decreases again in the circumferential direction to the value of zero in the area of the next polygon corner.
- a further embodiment of the invention can be seen in the fact that the axial section contour of the outer edge of the cover plate is at least approximately semicircular.
- the outer edge of the retaining ring is preferably formed with a clamping surface which tapers conically towards the bottom plane of the retaining ring. This clamping surface bears against the rounded polygon corner regions in the lower half of the outer edge of the cover plate, the retaining ring being supported directly on the top surface of the cover plate. Between this support surface of the retaining ring and its clamping surface there is a slight undersize in comparison to the corresponding contact surfaces of the Cover plate, so that a certain deformation of the outer edge of the retaining ring occurs when it is mounted on the cover plate.
- the retaining ring is clamped both radially and axially on the cover plate, with the result that the cushion mat is held securely against sliding on the cover plate. Nevertheless, disassembly of the turntable for cleaning purposes is very easy to carry out, since only a lifting axial force has to be exerted on the outer edge of the retaining ring, which can be done for example by means of two fingers. Due to this axial force and the free spaces formed between the polygon corners between the retaining ring and the cover plate, the retaining ring can stretch like a chord between two polygon corners, which results in an increase in the diameter of the retaining ring in the area of the polygon corner, which allows the retaining ring to be easily lifted off the cover plate.
- the outer edge of the retaining ring which is hook-shaped in axial section, has a circumferential lip which engages under the outer edge of the cover plate, which is convexly rounded in cross section, and at least approximately linearly rests against it under pretension.
- This clamping line contact between the peripheral lip of the retaining ring and the cover plate is advantageous both for the clamping effect and for the easy assembly and disassembly of the retaining ring.
- the inner edge of the retaining ring preferably tapers radially inward in cross section. The inner end of this inner edge is then still below the surface of the cushion mat in its uncompressed area.
- a circumferential rib penetrating into the cushion mat is provided on the inside, which improves the hold of the cushion mat on the cover plate. This circumferential rib can be interrupted at circumferential intervals.
- the turntable 10 has a base plate 12, a cover plate 14, a soft compressible support mat 16 and a retaining ring 18.
- the base plate 12 and the cover plate 14 each have a central bore, that of the base plate being stepped. Both plates 12, 14 are connected to one another by means of a central clip 20 which has spring tongues on the bottom which engage under an annular shoulder in the stepped bore of the base plate 12.
- the cover plate can be lifted off the base plate by radial inward movement of the spring tongues of the central clip 20.
- the subsequent reassembly only requires the alignment of the two holes in the base plate and cover plate, after which the central clip 20 is inserted axially. His spring tongues automatically move inwards and then automatically snap into the ring shoulder of the base plate 12. Assembly and disassembly are possible in the shortest possible time without tools.
- the cover plate 14 has a new type of outer contour, because it has rounded corners 22 at equal angular intervals 18, between which straight edge parts 24 each extend.
- the cover plate 14 is thus formed polygon-like on its outer circumference.
- the retaining ring 18 is rotationally symmetrical, that is to say it has a circular contour. Its inner surface lies only in the transitions 22 between two rectilinear edge parts 24 of the cover plate 14, and between each of these transitions 22, which are formed by the rounded polygon corners, there remains a circular segment-shaped gap 26, the gap width of which is in the middle of the straight line Edge parts 24 is largest and then steadily decreases on both sides down to the value zero in the area of the transitions 22.
- the cover plate 14 has a convexly rounded contour in axial section, which here is semicircular.
- the diameter of the cover plate 14 in the middle height range is therefore the largest and decreases upwards and downwards.
- the reduction in diameter in the lower half of the cover plate 14 is important so that the retaining ring 18 can reach under the cover plate.
- the retaining ring 18 has a hook-shaped outer edge 28 and an inner edge 30 which overlaps the support mat 16 and which has a conically upward-facing inner surface 32 on which a peripheral rib 34 is formed which penetrates into the support mat 16 in a form-fitting manner.
- the thickness of the inner edge 30 decreases continuously radially inwards.
- the cross section of the inner edge 30 is essentially triangular.
- the outer edge 28 of the retaining ring 18 has, in axial section, an inner surface 36 rounded in the upper region, which delimits a crescent-shaped cavity 40 with the convex outer surface 38 of the cover plate 14.
- the retaining ring 16 does not lie along the entire circumference on the outer edge 46 of the cover plate 14, which is in contact rather, only in the area of the transitions 22 between two rectilinear edge parts 24 of the cover plate 14. Between the inner edge 30 and the outer edge 28 of the retaining ring 18, the latter has an inside support surface 48 which lies all around on a complementary flat annular surface of the cover plate 14.
- the distance between this support surface 48 and the conical clamping surface 42 on the lower lip 44 of the retaining ring 18 is dimensioned somewhat smaller than the corresponding distance of the counter surfaces on the cover plate 14, so that in the assembled state a slight deformation of the lip 44 of the retaining ring 18 occurs, whereby the Retaining ring 18 is clamped to the cover plate 14 both in the radial direction and in the axial direction.
- the peripheral lip 44 ensures that the support surface 48 of the retaining ring is pulled axially against the annular surface of the cover plate 14.
- the contour of the outer edge 46 is shown in dashed lines in the middle of the straight edge part 24 of the cover plate 14. In this area, the outer edge 28 of the retaining ring 18 does not engage under the cover plate 14.
- the retaining ring 18 can be detached from the cover plate 14 with a slight finger pressure. You run your finger between them Retaining ring 18 and base plate 12 and presses the retaining ring 18 away from the base plate 12 in any circumferential area. Since the clamping contact between the holding ring 18 and the cover plate 14 is only present within a small circumferential area within the transitions 22, the outer edge 28 of the holding ring 18 deforms on both sides adjacent to this clamping zone, namely the circularly contoured outer edge 28 is stretched like a chord (FIG. 4), whereby the gap 26 decreases in width. As a result, the diameter of the outer edge 28 increases in the area of the transitions 22 and the circumferential lip 44 is released from the outer edge 46 of the cover plate 14 in this area. The retaining ring 18 can then simply be pivoted upward away from the cover plate 14.
Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a turntable as a seat for the disabled, with a base plate, a cover plate rotatably mounted thereon, a cushion mat arranged centrally on this and a circularly contoured retaining ring which overlaps this on its peripheral edge and is detachably fastened to the cover plate and also the outer edge of the Cover plate overlaps.
Such a turntable is known from EP-B-0364746. The retaining ring here consists of a number of circumferentially lined up individual ring segments which have bottom-side locking pins which are detachably locked in corresponding holes in the rotatable cover plate.
The object of the invention is to improve the turntable of the above type in such a way that any fit problems between the retaining ring and the cover plate can be avoided and the handling during assembly and disassembly of the retaining ring is simplified without negatively influencing the holding effect of the cushion mat on the cover plate.
This object is achieved in a turntable of the type mentioned in that the outer edge of the cover plate has a regular polygonal contour with a plurality of equally long, at least approximately rectilinear edge parts, that the retaining ring is formed in one piece and has an axially sectioned, elastically deformable outer edge , which engages under the cover plate at least at the transitions between each two of its adjacent edge parts and rests against these transitions on the outer edge of the cover plate.
Thanks to the polygonal contour of the outer edge of the cover plate, the retaining ring requires only very little elastic deformability, because when the retaining ring is assembled, the outer ring is pressed over a few corners of the polygonal outer edge of the cover plate, the retaining ring being able to deform like a tendon in the neighboring areas of these polygonal corners , which results in a local increase in diameter of the retaining ring in the region of one or more adjacent corners of the cover plate.
The corners between two at least approximately straight Edge parts of the cover plate are preferably rounded.
The new turntable is further characterized in that the outer edge of the retaining ring rests on a plurality of spaced apart areas on the cover plate and a gap is formed between each of such contact areas between the retaining ring and cover plate. The width of this gap changes continuously in the circumferential direction. It is zero in the area of the polygon corners, then rises steadily to the middle of the straight edge parts of the cover plate and then gradually decreases again in the circumferential direction to the value of zero in the area of the next polygon corner.
A further embodiment of the invention can be seen in the fact that the axial section contour of the outer edge of the cover plate is at least approximately semicircular. Furthermore, the outer edge of the retaining ring is preferably formed with a clamping surface which tapers conically towards the bottom plane of the retaining ring. In this way, the retaining ring is clamped both radially and axially on the cover plate, with the result that the cushion mat is held securely against sliding on the cover plate.
Finally, another embodiment of the invention is to be seen in the fact that the outer edge of the retaining ring, which is hook-shaped in axial section, has a circumferential lip which engages under the outer edge of the cover plate, which is convexly rounded in cross section, and at least approximately linearly rests against it under pretension. This clamping line contact between the peripheral lip of the retaining ring and the cover plate is advantageous both for the clamping effect and for the easy assembly and disassembly of the retaining ring.
The inner edge of the retaining ring preferably tapers radially inward in cross section. The inner end of this inner edge is then still below the surface of the cushion mat in its uncompressed area. On this inside edge of the retaining ring, a circumferential rib penetrating into the cushion mat is provided on the inside, which improves the hold of the cushion mat on the cover plate. This circumferential rib can be interrupted at circumferential intervals.
The invention is described in more detail with reference to the drawing, which represents an exemplary embodiment.

The
The
The
The combination of a circularly contoured outer edge of the
As can be seen from FIG. 5 results, the
The retaining
In FIG. 5, the contour of the
- A rotary plate as a seat for the disabled, having a base plate (12), a cover plate (14) rotatably mounted on the latter, a padded mat (16) arranged on the cover plate (14) in a concentric manner, and a circular holding ring (18) which engages over the circumferential edge of the padded mat (16), is detachably secured to the cover plate (14) and also engages over the outer edge (46) of the cover plate (14), characterised in that the outer edge (46) of the cover plate (14) has a regular, polygonal circumferential contour with a plurality of edge portions (24) which are of the same length and are at least substantially rectilinear, in that the holding ring (18) is in one piece and has a resiliently deformable outer edge (28) which is hook-shaped in axial section, engages underneath the cover plate (14) at least at the transitions (22) between each two of adjacent edge portions (24) thereof and at these transitions (22) contacts with the outer edge (28) [sic- 46] of the cover plate (14) in a clamping manner.
- A rotary plate in accordance with Claim 1, characterised in that the corners (22) formed between each two at least substantially rectilinear edge portions (24) of the cover plate (14) are rounded.
- A rotary plate in accordance with Claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the outer edge (28) of the holding ring (18) contacts with the cover plate (14) at a plurality of regions (22) spaced apart along the circumference of the latter, and between every two such contact regions (22) a gap (26) is formed between holding ring (18) and cover plate (14).
- A rotary plate in accordance with Claim 3, characterised in that the width of the gap (26) alters in a steady manner in the circumferential direction.
- A rotary plate in accordance with any one of Claims 1 to 4, characterised in that the contour of the outer edge (46) of the axially-sectioned cover plate (14) is at least substantially semicircular.
- A rotary plate in accordance with any one of Claims 1 to 5, characterised in that the outer edge (28) of the holding ring (18) has a clamping surface (42) tapering conically towards the base plane of the holding ring (18).
- A rotary plate in accordance with any one of Claims 1 to 6, characterised in that the holding-ring outer edge (28) - hook-shaped in axial section - has a circumferential lip (44) which engages underneath the cover-plate outer edge (46) - convexly rounded in cross-section - and, with prestressing, rests against the outer edge (46) in an at least substantially linear manner.
- A rotary plate in accordance with any one of Claims 1 to 6, characterised in that the holding ring (18) has an inner supporting surface (48) in the transition region between its hook-shaped outer edge (28) and the inner edge (30) engaging over the padded mat (16), this supporting surface (48) being supported on an upper complementary counter surface of the cover plate (14).
- A rotary plate in accordance with any one of Claims 1 to 8, characterised in that the holding-ring inner edge (30) engaging over the padded mat (16) has on its inner surface a circumferential rib (34) penetrating into the padded mat (16).
