Definitions
- the invention relates to a turntable as a seat for the disabled, with a base plate, a cover plate rotatably mounted thereon, a cushion mat arranged centrally on this and a circularly contoured, one-piece retaining ring which overlaps this on its peripheral edge and is detachably fastened to the cover plate and which forms the outer edge grips and engages around the cover plate in a hook-like manner and rests against it in a clamping manner.
- a turntable which consists of a number of circumferentially lined up individual ring segments which have bottom-side locking pins which are detachably locked in corresponding holes in the rotatable cover plate. Thanks to this segmental design of the retaining ring, production is inexpensive. On the other hand, assembly and disassembly are somewhat cumbersome and the appearance of the retaining ring is not always satisfactory, because of the inevitable tolerances that visible radial gaps between the individual ring segments of the retaining ring create. Although this known retaining ring overlaps the outer edge of the cover plate, it lies flush with this on the bottom side, and therefore does not reach under the cover plate.
- EP-A-0619 994 (this document falls under Article 54 (3) EPC) proposes a turntable of the type mentioned in the introduction, in which the outer edge of the cover plate has a regular polygonal contour with a large number has the same length, at least approximately rectilinear edge parts and the retaining ring has a hook-shaped, elastically deformable outer edge which clamps under the edge of the cover plate.
- This design of the turntable brings advantages thanks to k the one-piece construction of the retaining ring, but the retaining ring must be elastically deformable in order to be able to assemble and disassemble it. It has also been shown that radial forces are exerted on the upholstery mat when the retaining ring is fitted, which can lead to bulging in the mat.
- the object of the invention is to design the turntable of the type mentioned while maintaining the one-piece design of the retaining ring so that the retaining ring no longer needs to be deformed during assembly and disassembly and the cover plate is simplified in terms of contour shape.
- the elastic deformability is achieved not by the flexibility of the material but by the shape.
- the retaining ring can thus be made from the same rigid plastic material as the cover plate. Due to the annular groove provided according to the invention, the edge of the cover plate, which is massive and non-deformable, is given an elastically flexible ring wall. Since only a thin-walled web remains between the ring groove bottom and the adjacent surface of the cover plate, this acts as a joint and enables the bottom end of the ring wall to be displaced even if a rigid plastic material is used for the cover plate.
- the annular groove can open into the upper surface, ie the top surface of the cover plate, or can emanate from the lower surface, ie the bottom surface of the cover plate.
- the inner edge of the retaining ring which engages under the outer edge of the ring wall of the cover plate, causes the ring wall to be displaced into the annular groove, so to speak, so that the inner edge of the retaining ring is released from the outer edge of the cover plate, so that the retaining ring can be removed from the cover plate upwards .
- the base plate can be circularly contoured in accordance with EP-A-0364 746 or elongated in accordance with EP-A-0617 947 (this document falls under Article 54 (3) EPC), the cover plate being provided with a slide on the base side is, which is displaceable in a longitudinal guide of the base plate.
- a preferred embodiment consists in that the outer edge of the cover plate has edge recesses arranged at equal intervals, in the areas of which the ring wall is interrupted.
- the retaining ring is therefore only held on the circumferentially spaced ring wall sections of the cover plate. Such spaced ring wall sections are easier to deform than an uninterrupted circumferential ring wall.
- the production of the new turntable is easier because rigid material can be used for the retaining ring and the cover plate and the need to provide the cover plate with a non-circular contour is eliminated.
- the rigid, non-deformable retaining ring makes assembly easier in that the upholstery mat can no longer move.
- the turntable 10 shown consists of the following main components, namely a cover plate 12 which is rotatably mounted on a base plate 16 by means of a central bearing pin 14, and a cushion mat 18, the outer edge of which is fixed by a retaining ring 20, which in turn clamps the outer edge of the cover plate 12 embraces.
- the base plate 16 is shown in FIG. 1 elongated and has a longitudinal sliding guide in which a bottom slide of the cover plate 12 is guided. This elongated design of the base plate 16 makes it possible to move patients or disabled people in a bed to the edge of the bed and to turn them there into an exit position.
- This turntable is also used to advantage in connection with bathlift devices, to enable the disabled to be easily translated from the edge of the tub to the seat of the lift and vice versa.
- the base plate 16 can also have a circular contour.
- the turntable 10 can be quickly disassembled without the aid of tools, so that the individual parts can be cleaned and that an equally quick and easy reassembly is then ensured.
- the cover plate 12 has an annular groove 22 closely adjacent to its outer edge, which, however, as will be explained below, is interrupted by cutouts, so that circumferentially spaced annular groove sections are formed. Between this annular groove 22 and the outer edge of the cover plate 12, an annular wall 24 is formed, at the lower end of which an outwardly projecting bead 26 is provided. A thin-walled web remains between the bottom of the annular groove 22 and the top surface of the cover plate 12, which web represents a bending zone 28 for the annular wall 24.
- the edge bead 26 of the ring wall 24 is delimited by two wedge-shaped conical surfaces, namely a base-side support surface 30 and a cover-side actuation surface 32.
- the retaining ring 20 has a bottom inner bead 34, the inside diameter of which corresponds to the outside diameter of the ring wall 24.
- This inner edge bead 34 of the retaining ring 20 also has two conical boundary surfaces, namely a cover-side holding surface 36 and a bottom-side actuating surface 38.
- the taper angle of all of these edge bead surfaces is approximately 90 °, in axial section these surfaces are therefore less than 45 ° to the rotating plane of the rotary plate 12.
- the inner edge bead 34 of the retaining ring 20 engages under the outer edge bead 26 of the ring wall 24, the holding surface 36 lying flat against the support surface 30 of the outer edge bead 26.
- the dimensioning between cover plate 12 and retaining ring 20 is selected such that the retaining ring 20 rests directly on the cover surface of the cover plate 12 in its outer region and the edge bead 34 of the retaining ring 20 clamps it to the edge bead 26 of the cover plate 12.
- the retaining ring 20 is lifted off from the base plate 16 on its outer edge.
- the inner bead 34 of the retaining ring 20 causes the ring wall 24 to pivot inward due to the wedge effect, the deformation taking place essentially in the bending zone 28 and the adjacent region of the ring wall 24.
- the edge bead 26 is shifted with its ring wall 24 to the inside diameter of the edge bead 34 of the retaining ring 20 towards the center of the turntable, after which the connection of the retaining ring 20 to the rotary plate 12 is released in a certain circumferential area. The same procedure is followed in the adjacent areas of the turntable.
- the retaining ring 20 can then be removed upwards, after which the cushion mat 18 is exposed and can also be removed from the cover plate 12.
- the wedge-shaped actuation surface 38 on the edge bead 34 comes into contact with the corresponding actuation surface 32 of the outer edge bead 26 on the ring wall 24.
- the actuating surface 38 causes the ring wall 24 to pivot inwards until the outer edge of the edge bead 26 comes to rest on the inner radius of the edge bead 34 of the retaining ring 20.
- the ring wall 24 snaps out again, the support surface 30 sliding along the holding surface 36 and holding these two surfaces together in the end position of the parts.
- the annular groove 22 is shown open at the bottom.
- the annular groove 22 could also extend from the top surface of the cover plate 12, so that the bending zone of the annular wall 24 would then be arranged on the bottom side.
- the outer bead 26 would then be located at the free upper end of the annular wall 24.
- the cover plate 12 has a shoulder 40 at a distance from its outer edge, as a result of which an annular gap is formed between the cover surface of the cover plate 12 and the retaining ring 20, into which the cushion mat 18 engages with its outer edge.
- a number of mandrels in an annular arrangement upwards and with a height that is only slightly smaller than the width of the gap between the cover plate 12 and retaining ring 20.
- These mandrels are used for the form-fitting fixing of the cushion mat 18.
- Such mandrels are known from the prior art, but were previously provided on the retaining ring 20, with the disadvantage that the cushion mat 18 could be moved during the mounting of the retaining ring.
- the arrangement of the mandrels 42 on the cover plate 12 ensures that the cushion mat 18 is securely fixed to the cover plate 12 before the holding ring 20 is applied, so that subsequent displacement by the holding ring 20 to be clamped on is excluded.
- the annular groove 22 does not extend around the entire circumference of the cover plate 12, but that it has edge recesses 44, in the areas of which the annular wall 24 and the adjacent bending zone 28 are interrupted.
- the depth of the edge recess 44 is preferably equal to the distance between the outer edge of the edge bead 26 and the inner annular surface of the annular groove 22.
- the annular wall 24 located between two recesses 44 thus forms a spring tongue. Of which are beyond the scope the cover plate 12 24 pieces arranged in an even distribution.
- the circumferential length of such a spring tongue is smaller than that of a recess 44.
- a ratio of 1: 2 has proven itself in practice, ie the circumferential length of an annular wall section 24 is approximately half that of an edge recess 44.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a turntable as a seat for the disabled, with a base plate, a cover plate rotatably mounted thereon, a cushion mat arranged centrally on this and a circularly contoured, one-piece retaining ring which overlaps this on its peripheral edge and is detachably fastened to the cover plate and which forms the outer edge grips and engages around the cover plate in a hook-like manner and rests against it in a clamping manner.
From EP-A-0364 746 a turntable is known which consists of a number of circumferentially lined up individual ring segments which have bottom-side locking pins which are detachably locked in corresponding holes in the rotatable cover plate.
In order to avoid the segmental construction of the retaining ring, EP-A-0619 994 (this document falls under Article 54 (3) EPC) proposes a turntable of the type mentioned in the introduction, in which the outer edge of the cover plate has a regular polygonal contour with a large number has the same length, at least approximately rectilinear edge parts and the retaining ring has a hook-shaped, elastically deformable outer edge which clamps under the edge of the cover plate. This design of the turntable brings advantages thanks to k the one-piece construction of the retaining ring, but the retaining ring must be elastically deformable in order to be able to assemble and disassemble it. It has also been shown that radial forces are exerted on the upholstery mat when the retaining ring is fitted, which can lead to bulging in the mat.
The object of the invention is to design the turntable of the type mentioned while maintaining the one-piece design of the retaining ring so that the retaining ring no longer needs to be deformed during assembly and disassembly and the cover plate is simplified in terms of contour shape.
This object is achieved in a turntable with the features of the introductory part of claim 1, that close to the outer edge of the cover plate is provided in this, extending at least along a circumferential part, at one of the two surfaces of the cover ring groove, between the bottom and the adjacent surface of the cover plate, a thin-walled bending zone and between the ring groove and the outer peripheral surface of the cover plate an annular wall is formed which can be displaced in this direction by the application of force acting radially inward with a resilient restoring effect.
In contrast to the design described above, the elastic deformability is achieved not by the flexibility of the material but by the shape. The retaining ring can thus be made from the same rigid plastic material as the cover plate.
The annular groove can open into the upper surface, ie the top surface of the cover plate, or can emanate from the lower surface, ie the bottom surface of the cover plate. In both cases, the inner edge of the retaining ring, which engages under the outer edge of the ring wall of the cover plate, causes the ring wall to be displaced into the annular groove, so to speak, so that the inner edge of the retaining ring is released from the outer edge of the cover plate, so that the retaining ring can be removed from the cover plate upwards . Like the cover plate, the base plate can be circularly contoured in accordance with EP-A-0364 746 or elongated in accordance with EP-A-0617 947 (this document falls under Article 54 (3) EPC), the cover plate being provided with a slide on the base side is, which is displaceable in a longitudinal guide of the base plate.
Although it is within the scope of the invention to form the deformable ring wall of the cover plate all around, a preferred embodiment consists in that the outer edge of the cover plate has edge recesses arranged at equal intervals, in the areas of which the ring wall is interrupted. The retaining ring is therefore only held on the circumferentially spaced ring wall sections of the cover plate. Such spaced ring wall sections are easier to deform than an uninterrupted circumferential ring wall.
The production of the new turntable is easier because rigid material can be used for the retaining ring and the cover plate and the need to provide the cover plate with a non-circular contour is eliminated. The rigid, non-deformable retaining ring makes assembly easier in that the upholstery mat can no longer move.
The invention is described in more detail with reference to the drawing, which represents an exemplary embodiment.

The in FIG. 1, the
As an alternative to the representation according to FIG. 1, the
It is essential in use that the
As can be seen in particular from FIGS. 3 and 4, the
In the assembly position according to FIG. 4, the inner edge bead 34 of the
In the subsequent reassembly, after the
In the exemplary embodiment, the
The
From FIG. 3 results that the
Claims (10)
- Turntable serving as a seat surface for handicapped persons, comprising a bottom plate (16), a top plate (12) pivotably mounted thereon, a padded cushion (18) disposed centrally on said top plate (12), and an integral retaining ring (20) with a circular outline, releasably fixed to said top plate (12) and overlapping said padded cushion (18) at its circumferential edge, gripping the top and bottom of the outer edge of said top plate (12) like a hook and resting thereon so as to clamp it, characterised in that, closely adjacent to the outer edge of the top plate (12), an annular groove (22) is provided in said top plate (12), which extends along at least part of the periphery and terminates at one of the two surfaces of the top plate (12), comprising the top side and the bottom side, and that a thin-walled flexible zone (28) is formed between the bottom of said annular groove (22) and the adjacent surface of the top plate (12), and an annular wall (24) is formed between the annular groove (22) and the outer peripheral surface of the top plate (12), which, by the exertion of radially inward force, can be displaced in this direction with a resilient restoring effect.
- Turntable as claimed in Claim 1, characterised in that the annular groove (22) terminates at the bottom surface of the top plate (12).
- Turntable as claimed in Claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the top plate (12) has regularly spaced marginal recesses (44) in the regions of which the annular wall (24) is interrupted.
- Turntable as claimed in Claim 3, characterised in that the circumferential length of each of the marginal recesses (44) is at least equal to that of the portion of annular wall (22) formed between each pair of marginal recesses (44).
- Turntable as claimed in Claim 4, characterised in that the circumferential length of each portion of annular wall (24) is approximately half as great as that of the marginal recess (44).
- Turntable as claimed in one of the Claims 1 to 5, characterised in that the annular wall (24) has a conical supporting surface (30) at the bottom, terminating at the outer circumferential surface of said annular wall (24), with the inner marginal beading (34) of the retaining ring (20) resting in a clamped manner on said supporting surface (30).
- Turntable as claimed in Claim 6, characterised in that the conical supporting surface (30) is formed on marginal beading (26) projecting outwardly from the annular wall (24).
- Turntable as claimed in Claim 7, characterised in that the top surface of the marginal beading (26) of the annular wall is likewise formed as a conical operating surface (32), though in this case rising inwardly from the outside.
- Turntable as claimed in one of the Claims 6 to 8, characterised in that the top surface of the inner marginal beading (34) of the retaining ring (20) is formed as a retaining surface (36) dropping conically inwards from the outside, which rests over a large area on the supporting surface (30) of the top plate(12), in a clamping fashion.
- Turntable as claimed in one of the Claims 1 to 9, characterised in that, in the region where the retaining ring (20) and padded cushion (18) overlap, the top plate (12) has a concentric arrangement of spikes (42) pointing upwards, the heigt of which is only slightly less than the width of a gap formed between the retaining ring (20) and the top surface of the top plate (12) for receiving the edge of the padded cushion (18).
