Abstract

Blind for windows or the like, comprising a plurality of horizontal slats spaced from each other in the vertical direction, a device for adjusting the inclination of the slats, intended to cause each slat to rotate simultaneously around its horizontal axis between a horizontal position and a vertical position, a device intended to raise the slats, and a blocking device preventing the slats from rising. Said slats are mounted on threaded rods with heads received in guide sections located on either side of the opening and intended to guide the movement of the rods of the slats when adjusting the orientation of the latter and when they go up or down.

Description

Description
of the invention having as title:
ARMOURED VENET IAN BL I ND FOR WI NDOWS OR THE L I KE
At present the socalled Venetian blinds with strips that can be oriented and wrapped are useful only to regulate light and air without having any defensive force.
The conceived device puts into effect for the first time a "Nenetian blind" that, together with the merit of allowing the best visibility and airing, is an effective defence.
In fact, its slats, produced with steel strap of different thicknesses, are able to resist to breaking, lifting, cutting, perforation, preventing from intrusion in the premises.
Mechanical device and working process. The Venetian blind, that can be applied anywhere, works with capstan control mechanisms with a flying rod and an electric engine already on the market that are inserted inside a box (Fig. 2 Ν. 1) applied at the ceiling and having on the outer face a steel veil (Fig.3 Ν. 2) covering the joint with the last slat while in the inner side it has a cap to access to the commands.
On the lateral sides of the place where the Venetian blind is installed, suitable containing guides are fixed with screws (12) special guides which are made up by two parts, a fixed one and a mobile one (Fig. 4, 5) linked by a hinge (5) that on one side has a latch bolt with hooks (Fig. 7 Ν. 13) and on the other side it has plates with receiving holes for the hooks of the bolt.
The guide opens when the bolt (13) is lifted and pushed towards outside by a lever inserted in its top (14) run by the commands placedut in the box (1 ), it closes when the command works in the opposite way. The fixed part of the guide (4) has two opposing fins (10) which mark the space (34) where the heads of the pins (30) are kept coupling the single slats (3). The mobile part of the guide (Fig. 5 N. 6) is milled to create notches (Fig. 3, 6 N. 7) used to regulate the inclination of the slats. The sections produced in the guide by the creation of the notches have holes that are closed with nylon plugs (32). The guides have two grooves (11) where nylon buffers for sealing the slats are inserted. The Venetian blind can assume three positions:
A) Total closing. After the opening of the guides (Fig. 5) the slats (3) are placed vertically by the fillets (Fig. 8, 10, 11 N. 25, 27) and are blocked in this position by the closing of the guides (Fig. 2 N. 4) with the insertion of the bolts (13).
B) Half closing. The opening of the guides sets the slats free allowing the commands to run the fillets (Fig. 8, 11, 13 N. 25, 27) and to place them in horizontal position. The subsequent closing of the guides with the bolt (13) stops all the slats inside the notches which have a horizontal base and an oblique upper part (Fig. 6 N. 7) to allow the inclination of the slats in the wanted angulation (Fig. 6, 11).
C) Total opening. Once opened the guides the fillets (25, 27) place the slats in horizontal position (Fig, 1, 12, 13); then the capstan in the box (1) rolls up the two steel ropes (23) linked to the first slat pulling up all the other slats until they are gathered under the box (Fig. 3). As the total opening of the Venetian blind excludes the need of defense, the guides remain open in order to allow the immediate lowering of the slats.
The slats of the Venetian blind are in mould metal and their ends are curved (15) for a perfect coupling and to prevent the penetration of the rain, in the lateral sides they have strengthening bends (16) to contain the supporting profiles of the inner sheating (Fig. 8, 9 N. 17, 18) that contains: the two heads of a curved sheet made of tempered steel (Fig 8, 9 N. 20) whose coins also support the walls of the slat, the cut-proof steel round (Fig. 8, 9 N. 19) that is inserted in the profile (17) and is used also as axle-tree for the hinge of the central fillet (Fig. 8, 10 N. 25), the steel tube (Fig. 8, 9 N. 21) that is inserted in the profile (18) and that in its ends receives the cylinders (31) for the pins screwing (30) that couple the slats (3) to the lateral guides (4). The slats are linked by tempered stainless steel fillets (Fig. 8 N. 25, 26, 27) that synchronize their movements. A lateral fillet (Fig. 8 N. 26) links the basis of the slats to which some pins are fixed (30); these pins go trough its eyelet and the special spacer (Fig. 9 N. 26, 29). The other lateral fillet (27) is fixed with a screw to the plug (22) using a spacer (Fig. 9 N. 27, 28).
For the large sized Venetian blinds, instead of this lateral fillet (27), central fillets (Fig. 8, 10, 13 N. 25) are applied; they also prevent from opening of the slats. The various pieces (3, 4, 5, 6, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21) are produced in long profiles then cut in the required sizes.
In the ends of the steel tube (21) the cylinders (31) are inserted and then blocked with the punching of the tube above their notches or with electric welding. The tube (21) is inserted in the profile (18) while in the other supporting profile (17) the steel round is inserted (19). In the mentioned profiles (17, 18) now the heads of the curved sheet (20) are inserted. Now the pre-arranged inner sheating is inserted inside the slat (3) whose ends are closed with metal plugs (22) fixed with a screw (Fig. 9 N. 35). Now the slats are lined up on a table and the pins are inserted (30); after having put the overlapped eyelets of the fillets (26), the spacer (29), the plug (22), are screwed down in the cut screw groove of the cylinder (31) strongly linking all the parts (Fig. 9). The overlapping eyelets of the other fillet (Fig. 8, 9, 11 N. 27) are inserted in the spacer (28) and fixed with a screw to the plug (22).
The eyelets of the lifting ropes are screwed down to the plugs of the first inferior slat (Fig. 9, 11 N. 23). If the central fillets (25) are applied instead of the lateral ones (27), in the slats already containing the inner sheating, but without the steel round (19), the notches (33) are made to receive the two parts of the fillets (25) that are then passed trough and joined by the steel round (19) inserted in the profile (17). The milling area (33) of the slats (3) is pointed out in figures N. 10 and 13 and has the same width of the fillet that it receives. After completing the composition of the slats (3) the heads of the pins (30) are inserted in the lateral guides (4), then the box (1) is applied, linking the bolts (13), the fillets (25, 26, 27) and the ropes (23) to the relating commands inside the box (1). After the installation of the Venetian blind in its premise, the guides (4) and the box (1) are fixed to the lateral walls and to the ceiling with strong screws. On the windows sill a small plinth is fixed (Fig.8 N. 24); it improves the linking of the first slat with the base.
