Description

The invention relates to a device for cleaning the interior of wind instruments with a cleaning body, which comprises a convex part which is convex to the outside, to the front end of which an elongated pull-through part is attached.

There is a great need to clean the inside of wind instruments. In the course of time, a wide variety of substances are deposited on the inside of the instrument to form a solid coating. This coating not only leads to a gradual destruction of the instrument, but also the sound-physical properties of the instrument are impaired in a very sustainable manner, so that the quality of the wind instrument gradually deteriorates more and more. Woodwind instruments and flutes have to be dried from the inside after each use in order to avoid cracks in the wood and damage to the valve cushions.

A cleaning device for the interior of wind instruments of the type mentioned is known from DE-OS 37 15 490. The cleaning device consists of a pull-through part in the form of a flexible cord. A cleaning element made of a spherical sponge rubber, foam rubber or plastic foam is attached to one end of this cord. The other end of the flexible cord has a likewise spherical threading part. With this known cleaning device, very good cleaning effects can be achieved, but with some instruments the covering cannot be optimally removed, particularly in critical areas.

The cleaning device has a rod which carries a round head plate at its head end. Only flutes or comparable instruments can be cleaned with this cleaning device.

Another cleaning device is e.g. known from US-A-1 730 785.

Starting from a cleaning device for the interior of wind instruments of the type specified in the introduction, the object of the invention is to create an improved cleaning device with which an optimal cleaning effect is achieved in a simple and effective manner.

As a technical solution , the invention proposes that the cleaning body has a plate-shaped part, on the top of which the curved part is arranged.

A cleaning device designed according to this technical teaching has the advantage that it can be used to optimally clean and dry the interior of wind instruments. This is achieved with the special shape of the cleaning body, which has a special profile, namely a plate-shaped part, on one flat side of which a curved part is arranged to such an extent that the curved part forms an elevation on the plate-shaped part. The cleaning body is designed to be flexible or compressible in such a way that after exerting pressure on it, as is the case when pulling through a wind instrument, it then returns to its original shape. The dimensions of the cleaning body formed in this way and also the dimensions of the pull-through part depend on the respective instrument. The plate-shaped part and the curved part can consist of the same material or of different materials. If the two different parts consist of different materials, they can be individually adapted to the tasks assigned to them. The two parts can be glued together, for example. In the event that the two parts consist of the same material, they can be made in one piece. But also here it is conceivable to manufacture the plate-shaped parts and the curved parts individually in order to subsequently connect them to one another, for example to glue them together. This allows different part sizes to be varied to create a wide variety of size combinations.

In a preferred development of the cleaning device according to the invention it is proposed that the plate-shaped part is a round disc. Such a round disk in the form of a flat cylinder is technically simple to manufacture and moreover has great transverse stability, the edge region of the disk coming into contact with the inner wall of the instrument to be cleaned.

Another preferred development of the cleaning device according to the invention proposes that the curved part is a spherical section, in particular a hemisphere. This spherical shape allows the cleaning body to be pulled through the wind instrument without any problems, its advantage being that it comes into contact with the inner wall of the wind instrument with a relatively large area. Of course, the curved part can also originate, for example, from an ellipsoid or a comparable curved body.

A further development of this suggests that the diameter of the spherical section is smaller than the diameter of the round disk. This achieves an optimal cleaning effect, with the exact sizes of both the round disc and the spherical section depend on the respective application.

Another preferred development suggests that the cleaning body consists of sponge rubber, foam rubber and / or a plastic foam. On the one hand, these materials are flexible or compressible enough to be able to pull them easily through the wind instrument, on the other hand, they can be used to achieve very good cleaning and drying effects.

A further development suggests that the cleaning body is additionally covered from the side of the curved part by a cloth, in particular made of leather or fabric. This additional cleaning element is provided in particular for cleaning devices which are intended for clarinets, saxophones, oboes or bassoons.

A further development suggests that the elongated pull-through part is a flexible cord, in particular made of plastic. The flexible cord is preferably a nylon cord. On the one hand, this is flexible enough to be able to thread it even with winding wind instruments, on the other hand, this cord is acceptable from a hygienic point of view, since it can be easily cleaned by washing. After all, it does not damage the inner wall of the instrument to be cleaned or dried.

The free end of the cord preferably has a threading body. The threading body can be, for example, a ball made of wood or lead. The lead ball is characterized by its high weight, so that the flexible cord can easily follow bends if the user turns the instrument to be cleaned accordingly. In order to avoid damage, the lead ball will be provided with a plastic coating.

Alternatively, it is also conceivable that the free end of the cord has a tip.

A further development of this suggests that a second cord acts on the side of the plate-shaped part. This form of cleaning device in combination with the cloth already mentioned is particularly suitable for soprano saxophones.

As an alternative to the flexible cord, it is also conceivable to use an especially flexible rod as an elongated pull-through part or - in this case - push-through or sliding part. This cleaning element, for example with a plastic rod and in particular with a PVC rod, it can be easily inserted into the instrument from the outside in order to reach the areas to be cleaned or dried. The cleaning and drying effect is achieved by a back and forth movement.

A further development of this finally suggests that a rag, in particular made of leather or fabric, is attached to the plate-shaped part on the side facing away from the curved part. Such a cleaning device with a flexible rod and the leather rag is particularly suitable for cleaning transverse flutes.
