Abstract

The present invention relates to a copy delivery system for folding devices of rotary printing machines, comprising a cutting apparatus which divides printed webs of material into a multiplicity of printed copies, and a gripper cylinder from which transversely folded copies are fed either to an apparatus for producing the second longitudinal fold or output units arranged downstream thereof or a further delivery unit for transversely folded products which can be acted upon from the gripper cylinder. The invention is characterised in that the delivery of copies takes place from copy delivery units (11, 16, 25), which can be acted upon selectively depending on the production mode, into a first transporting plane which is formed from delivery belts (17, 18, 19, 20 and 21) and comprises a 90@ swivel or into a second transporting plane formed from one delivery belt (22). By means of a pivotable switch (26), the transporting planes can be connected to a stacking unit (5). <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a product delivery system for folders on rotary printing presses, comprising a cutting unit which divides printed material webs into a plurality of printed copies, and a puncture cylinder, of which cross-folded copies either a device for producing the second longitudinal fold and these downstream output units, or another , can be fed from the puncture cylinder from the loading unit for cross-folded products.

A paper folding machine for use on a rotary printing press is already known from DE 29 21 383 C2. After passing through a cutting unit, the individual copies are picked up by a triple-sized collecting cylinder, which is followed by two further double-sized folding cylinders. From an upper double-size folding cylinder, the specimens are conveyed into a retard belt from two pairs of conveyor belts rotating at different belt speeds. There they are delayed and reach a stack that continuously lowers during production. There is no possibility of further transport from this dormant copy edition.

If, on the other hand, the copies are taken from the lower of the double-sized folding cylinders, they are fed to a device for producing a second longitudinal fold. Depending on whether copies are to be produced with or without a second longitudinal fold, the copies come in different orientations Paddle wheels. If copies are produced without a second longitudinal fold, these are conveyed by a paddle wheel onto a conveyor belt train in a stacker and arranged upright there. However, if the copies are produced with a second longitudinal fold, the stacker must be rotated at least 90 ° in order to work with the paddle wheel assigned to this type of copy. Accordingly, in the vicinity of the folder, all the conceivable stacking positions are required. It should be noted that it is not possible to transport items from the upper delivery unit.

Mithin fallen neben der Beanspruchung teurer Stellflächen auch vermeidbare Kosten an.No. 4,986,730 discloses a stacker connection to an upstream processing machine, in which flat products deflected at an angle of 45 ° are guided against the stops of a stacker and in this way align themselves correctly on the stack to be formed. The conveyor system disclosed here also enables the specimen to be fed only on one transport level; Since it is only geared towards one specimen transport route, it is of little use for other delivery options on the same processing machine because it is too inflexible. One of the systems disclosed in US Pat. No. 4,986,730 would therefore be required on multiple copy displays of a processing machine. In addition to the use of expensive floor space, there are also avoidable costs.

The disadvantages associated with the prior art are remedied by the invention.

Starting from the outlined state of the art, the object of the invention is to feed copies of a stationary stacking unit to different locations on the folder, depending on the production mode.

According to the invention, this object is achieved in that the placement of copies from specimen delivery units which can optionally be loaded depending on the production mode into a first transport plane formed from delivery belts and comprising a 90 ° swivel or into a second transport plane formed from a delivery belt within the folding apparatus, which takes place by means of a pivotable switch can be connected to a stacking unit.

The advantages that can be achieved with this solution are, on the one hand, that a defined position of the stacking unit is now sufficient for further processing of all suitable copies. Comprehensive and tortuous transport paths, which are prone to malfunction and take up a lot of floor space and make it difficult to access the folder copy outlets, can be omitted, since the transport levels are now in the lower part of the folder. Since both transport levels can be connected to the stacking unit via the swiveling switch, both a 4 x 4 page production, one lengthways and crossfolded copies or crossfolded copies with a second lengthwise fold can be easily laid out and fed to a stacking unit.

Further features of the invention are set out in the further patent claims, wherein in one embodiment a copy delivery unit can be arranged after a longitudinal folding module. Via conveyor belts of the longitudinal folding module into a specimen delivery unit arranged downstream of this, copies can be fed to a processing unit via a delivery belt arranged in an alternative position in the first transport level. This allows the copy delivery concept to be implemented even in the case of folders with differently arranged paddle wheels.

The invention is explained in detail below with reference to a drawing.

It shows:

Fig. 2
a plan view of the transport levels below the specimen delivery units within the folder, which can be connected to a stacking unit.

The side view shown in FIG. 1 of a folder base frame 2 resting on a foundation 1 comprises a second longitudinal folding module 3, as well as a superstructure 4 upstream of the folder base frame 2, in which a first longitudinal folding device 29 is mounted so as to be laterally displaceable. Due to the lateral displaceability of the first longitudinal folding device 29, the position of the copies on the circumference of transverse folding cylinders 12, 13, 14 can be varied. Underneath the superstructure 4 there is a drive 6, by means of which the pulling roller pairs feeding the material web are driven. This in turn is followed by a cutting unit 28, by means of which the material web can be subdivided into a large number of printed copies. The cutting unit 28 is also operated by its own drive 7. The individual specimens separated from the material web enter conveyor belts 9 which extend below the cutting unit 28 and which run around deflecting rollers 10. The conveyor belts 9 can be driven via a drive 8 and can be brought into a pivoted position 9 'by adjusting means, not shown here, so that 11 pockets can be fed to individual pockets of a paddle wheel. These copies, for example produced in the 4 x 4 pages operating mode, are opened a delivery belt 17 is designed, which is part of a first transport level.

If the conveyor belts 9 remain in the position 9 shown in solid lines, the individual copies separated in the cutting unit 28 are fed to transverse folding cylinders 12, 13, 14. The gripper cylinder 12 comprises folding blades and gripper bridges, while the folding jaw cylinder 13 is equipped with folding blades and folding jaws. The gripper cylinder 14 downstream of the folding jaw cylinder 13 has gripper bridges and folding jaws, which, however, are not the subject of the present invention. A pair of conveyor rollers 15 is arranged downstream of the gripper cylinder 14. If copies are produced without a second longitudinal fold, the copies pass from the pair of conveying rollers 15 into a paddle wheel 16 located underneath them. Below the paddle wheel 16 there is a delivery belt 20, which in turn is part of the first transport plane and through the delivery belts 18 and 19 with the one already mentioned Delivery belt 17 is connected.

If, on the other hand, copies with a second longitudinal fold are to be produced, the copies are transferred from the pair of conveyor rollers 15 to conveyor belts 23, which convey the cross-folded copies into the second longitudinal fold module 3. A folder 24 moving up and down above the conveyor belts 23 pushes the specimens into the folding rollers to produce the second longitudinal fold, from where they reach a blade wheel 25 rotated 90 ° below the folding rollers 16 to the impeller 16. A delivery belt 22 forming the second transport plane is located below the paddle wheel 25 for the delivery of the longitudinally folded copies.

Demnach erfolgt beispielsweise die Auslage einer 4 x 4 Seitenproduktion durch das Schaufelrad 11 auf einAccordingly, a 4 x 4 page production is carried out by the paddle wheel 11, for example

Delivery belt 17 of a first transport level and the delivery of specimens provided only with the first longitudinal fold and further transverse folds through the paddle wheel 16 onto the delivery belt 20 of the first transport level. The first transport plane consisting of the delivery belts 17, 18, 19, 20 and the curved delivery belt 21 ends at the lower belt roller 27 shown in FIG. 1. The lower belt roller 27 forms the interface of the folder to a downstream processing unit such as a stacker.

The delivery of copies provided with a second longitudinal fold is carried out by the paddle wheel 25 onto the second transport level, the interface to a further processing unit being formed by a further belt roller 27 lying above the belt roller 27 already mentioned.

In the folder base frame 2 extends essentially the first transport level, which from the
Delivery bands 17, 18, 19, 20 and the arcuate delivery belt 21 is formed. In the second longitudinal folding module 3, the curved delivery belt 21 of the first transport plane and the delivery belt 22 arranged above it, which forms the second transport plane below the paddle wheel 25, overlap. The delivery belt 22 and the curved delivery belt 21 end at vertically superposed belt rollers 27, which form the interfaces to the downstream processing unit, for example a stacker 5. At the stacker 5 shown here there is a pivotable switch 26, which by one Belt roller 27 is pivotable. The delivery belt 26 can assume the solid position as well as the pivoted position denoted by 26 '. As a result, the first transport level and the second transport level can be connected to the stacker 5. The swiveling of the switch 26 into one or the other of the positions shown takes place automatically, depending on the production mode. Accordingly, the pivotable switch 26 is in line with a belt roller 27, depending on the production mode, and accepts the copies conveyed in the respective transport plane for further processing in the stacker 5.

From the plan view of the folder base frame 2 and the longitudinal folding module 3 shown in FIG. 2, it also follows that the paddle wheel 16 and the paddle wheel 25 are arranged pivoted by 90 ° to one another. Furthermore, it can be seen from the illustration according to FIG. 2 that those which form the individual transport levels
Delivery belts 17, 18, 19, 20, 21 and 22 are essentially accommodated in the folder base frame 2 and below the second longitudinal folding module 3 and do not take up any additional floor space in a printing house. Only the pivotable switch 26, which can be adjusted to the individual transport levels, is located outside the folder.

It is therefore possible to lay out 4 x 4 pages of tabloid copies as well as copies made with delta fold, parallel fold or double parallel fold in the first transport level, while in the second transport level, cross-folded copies with a first longitudinal fold and copies with a second longitudinal fold are laid out. For further processing of these copies produced in different modes, there is therefore no need to move a downstream processing unit, such as a stacker 5, for example Precisely aligned position remains, so there is also no need for complex adjustment work and the necessary set-up times.
