Knitting machine in accordance with Claim 1, characterised in that, the third needle selection position (C or B) is arranged behind the first (A or D) and second needle selection position (B or C) in the running direction of the carriage (S), at a position of the cam system (1) at which the selecting sinkers (3) are already in their take-off position.
  3. Knitting machine in accordance with Claim 1 or 2, characterised in that, the cam system (1) in a flat bed knitting machine has a respective first, a second and a third needle selection position (A, B, C or D, C, B) for both running directions of the carriage.
  4. Knitting machine in accordance with Claim 3, characterised in that, the third needle selection position (C or B) in the running direction of the carriage (S) is the second needle selection position (B or C) in the opposite running direction of the carriage, and vice versa.
  5. Knitting machine in accordance with any of the preceding Claims, characterised in that, the cam system (1) is built-up symmetrically for operation in both running directions and the needle selection position (C or B), which is located beyond the line of symmetry in the running direction, serves as the third needle selection position.

  10. Knitting machine in accordance with any of the preceding Claims, characterised in that, at least one take-off part (5, 10, 11, 12) consists of two take-off part elements that are movable relative to one another.
