Abstract

Profile (2), preferred in galvanized sheet iron, with variable angle and curvature, made up of an "L" section and an inner "C" section, where this last one is loyal to the former one and, on the other side, is free to be fixed when an angle is defined among its sides.

Description

  • In the construction of manufactured goods, preferred in coarse plaster of Paris, in order to build cross vaults, Bohemian vaults, cloister vaults or any other hand-made works, where there exists the need to connect spatial curves with variable running joints and surfaces; we need to adjust, once in a while, angular measures of parts to be able to connect them and to mould the base structure or predict an appropriate mounting which depends on which angle in between the surfaces is to be connected.
  • As a matter of facts, either one is satisfied with an angle equal to those moutings presently sold on market or build one in the workshop having the angles of the surface directed according to the particular joint one desires to do.
  • Very often the junction area is curved, for this reason besides an appropriate starting angle one needs to build a given curvature which may be different along the development of the structure itself.
  • The aim of this patent is that of proposing a manufactured good which may accommodate any junction easily deformable by hand.
  • Also as a function of the desired angle as regarding a given starting surface.
  • It may also be combined with box-like deformable structures resulting in orthogonal curvatures among them.
  • The resolving idea may be better understood by taking as a reference the adjoint tables, where it is given as an illustrative and not constrained example.
  • In table 1/4, fig. 1 takes the proposing profile in its most elementary form, while in fig. 2 it is shown in part carved as to result in a complex structure allowing either coupling to other structures or making an angle on a plane different from thet of the junction at the profile, almost orthogonal to it.
  • In table 2/4, figs. 3 & 4. show features of the expected fixed or carved structure following the inner "C" profile as to allow a better support and a double possibility of bending along orthogonal axes.
  • In table 3/4, figs. 5 & 6. show an application of this innovative profile for making, respectively, the load-carrying part of an arch roof and a curved wall.
  • Finally, table 4/4 fig. 7 shows the front view of the base elements of the structure, seen from two different angle views.
  • In fig. 8 it is shown a section of the profile made as a continuity of the elements thus allowing them to mould and double-bend; also fig. 8. suggests the construction of a barrell vault making use of the proposed profile.
  • Regarding to the figures, the profile is made up of an "L" section with preferred unequal sides (1) and (2), which extents toward the inner part thenks to a 180° folding in a "CI" profile.
  • The ribs (3), (4) &(5) of the profile show longitudinal graves (6) which makes it easy to bend along its marks.
  • In a possible variant shown on table 1/4, in fig. 2 the inner "C" profile may be substituted or pursued with a flat profile made of face (8) and from that moulded (9) able to improve the connection whith the remaining parts of the desired structure, particularly with covered gypsium.
  • Such a profile is essentially made up of a sequence of flat or box-like elements opened as a parallepipe with an "U" section, and joint by folded junctions (10) through pieces of the same bulk material properly graved and folded.
  • It is therefore obtained a "backbone" (vertebra) structure which can be folded at the joints (10) allowing rotations around its axes to take place.
  • As we describe before it seems evident that the proposed profile can be easily folded up along the outlines (4), (5) & (6) by engraving (7) and unwindable at the joint (10).
  • Once the profile is bend and the desired angle selected, it is fixed and blocked through the inner "C" profile which is fixed by the extremety side (11) to the wing (2) of the "L" profile.
  • We obtain in this way a rigid box-like structure with triangular section able to accommodate by fastening the wing (2), either panel boards or structural profiles having the need of a welldefined inclination in space.
  • Therefore, its is possible to adjust and fix the "L" profile in a wide range of angles.
  • With this system we can design a huge number of structures just by choosing at will the starting angles between the wall and the desired structure thus obtaining junction configurations of the kind shown on tab. 3/4, fig. 5.
  • This profile allows us to build curved walls, archs, voults, etc. shown as illustrative examples in the adjoint tables.
  • To conclude, the proposed profile can be used for perimetral closure of vaults and, in gneral, for any curved hand-made work where there is the need of curved structures with variable angles.
  • It can be used with benefits in the construction of cross vaults, bohemian vaults, cloister vaults and any other work where there exists a need to connect curves in space with variable joints of its surfaces.
  • Its extreme flexibility fins immediate utility in furnishing interiors with plaster boards and load-carrying structures made of galvanized sheet iron.
  • Formal and structural variations can be given to the proposed resolving idea within the same innovative concept and working frame, which remains validated by the following claims.

Claims (4)

  1. Profile, with variable angle, moulded simple by hand, usefull for building structures able to accommodate coated gypsium boards, or metallic structures that can be attached to it, characterized by the fact of having longitudinal marks (4), (5) and (6), as well as parallel graves (7) folded up in such a way as to determine an "L" section and a "C" section joint at one extremity according to the shift (3) while the other free extremity is attached to the section when, once defined the angle between the wings of the "L" section, there is still need to lock them.
  2. Profile, with the aim of the previous claim, characterized by the fact that the extremity (11) of the "C" section is longitudinarly fixed to the wing (2) of the "L" section as to form a rigid box-like structure able to accommodate either plaster boards or structural sections having the need of a welldefined inclination in space.
  3. Profile, with the aim of the previous claim, characterized by the fact that it presents the only mark (6) graved between the faces 8/9 and that pieces of material not taken off from the two sections of the "L" section is folded inward thus forming the joints (10) between the contiguous surfaces of each side.
  4. Profile, with the aim of the previous claim, characterized by the fact that the structure can hinge at the joint (10), from which follows claim (3), and it is made up of a series of flat or box-like elements linked at the joints (10) properly weakened by taking off part of its constituting material as to form graves (7) and fold them inward as to confer the elements the possibility to rotate one respect to the other about two orthogonal axes, and the ability to be bend along the faces (8) and (9).
