Definitions
- the present invention relates to a method of producing one or more patterns printed on a support.
- This method can in particular be used to print different patterns on a dashboard of a motor vehicle, intended to be illuminated or not from the rear, such as, for example, patterns indicating the different possible positions of a control button.
- the ink is applied to the support, so that its contours merge with those of the pattern to be produced.
- Several inks of different colors can be applied.
- the ink After application, the ink has a thickness which can vary from 0.5 to 50 microns.
- a thickness which can vary from 0.5 to 50 microns.
- This recess is most of the time not embarrassing in practice since it merges with the contours of the pattern shown, and is therefore not perceptible to the naked eye due to the contrast existing between the inked areas and the areas not inked from the support.
- a particular technique consists in applying to the entire support 2, after inking, a uniform layer 4 of opaque paint.
- the contours of the inked zone or zones draw the pattern or patterns to be produced and the opaque layer 4 completely covers them, the pattern being made apparent by transparency by means of the lighting in the background of the support 2, which is then transparent or translucent.
- the offset 1 existing between the surface 2a of the support 2 and of the ink 3 is reproduced at the level of the surface of the paint and the step 5 thus formed becomes visible to the naked eye since there is no longer any color contrast at its level.
- the contours of the inked zone or zones also draw the pattern or patterns to be produced and the opaque layer 4 is intended to be eroded or attacked by chemical, mechanical, ultrasonic or thermal action, in particular by means of a laser. , to discover the ink or inks 3 covered by said opaque layer 4.
- the step 1 existing between the surface 2a of the support 2 and the upper face of the ink 3 becomes visible to the naked eye.
- the present invention aims to remedy all of these drawbacks.
- the process to which it relates in which, in a known manner, ink is first applied to the support and then a layer of paint on the inked surface of the support, consists in applying ink gradually decreasing its quantity at the periphery of the inked area (s).
- the abovementioned setback between the ink and the support is progressive and invisible to the naked eye, so that the surface obtained appears to the user as being smooth and uniform, without any particular setback.
- Illumination in the background of the support can be carried out to reveal the pattern delimited by the ink.
- the paint When the paint is intended to be attacked or eroded to reveal the ink (s) deposited on the support, it is no longer necessary to make the contours of the inked area (s) coincide with those of the motif (s).
- the contours of the inked areas can, therefore, extend beyond those of the pattern or patterns, while being invisible to the naked eye.
- the erosion zones may have smaller dimensions than the inked zones and not be positioned in a perfectly precise manner with respect to them. The implementation of this kind of process is greatly facilitated and the visual appearance of the patterns obtained is perfect.
- the peripheral parts of two contiguous inked zones that is to say the parts of the inked zones in which the quantity of ink decreases, overlap, so that the ink remains substantially of constant thickness from one inked area to another.
- any separation between the inked face of the support and the upper face of the inked areas is eliminated.
- FIGS. 2 and 3 represent, by way of nonlimiting examples, a support comprising a printed pattern obtained according to the process which it concerns, in section and on a very enlarged scale.
- the ink 3 is applied by gradually decreasing its quantity at the periphery of the inked areas.
- step 1 between the ink 3 and the support 2 is progressive and invisible to the naked eye, so that the surface obtained appears to the user as being smooth and uniform, without any particular step.
- the background lighting of the support 1 can be carried out to reveal the pattern delimited by the ink 3.
- the paint 4 When the paint 4 is intended to be attacked or eroded to reveal the ink (s) 3 deposited on the support 2, it is no longer necessary to make the contours of the inked zone (s) coincide with those of the pattern (s).
- the contours of the inked areas can, therefore, extend beyond those of the pattern or patterns, being invisible to the naked eye. It is therefore no longer necessary to make the limits 6 of the erosion zones perfectly coincide with the edges of the inked zone (s), taking into account the invisibility of the recess 5. It follows that the zones of erosion may have smaller dimensions than the inked areas, as shown in Figure 2, and not be positioned perfectly precisely in relation to them. The implementation of the process is greatly facilitated and the visual appearance of the patterns obtained is perfect.
