In der Zeichnung ist der Bereich einer Zweistrang-Zigarettenmaschine, z. Der Kanalbereich weist zwei Kanäle 1a, 1b mit Wänden 2a, 2b auf. Am Grunde jedes Kanals 1a, 1b laufen endlose luftdurchlässige in Richtung des Pfeils 5 bewegte Strangförderbänder 3a, 3b im Normalbetrieb an Flächen 3a.1, 3b.1 (Figur 2) entlang. An den Strangförderbändern werden mittels nicht dargestellter Saugluft jeweils ein Tabakstrang 4a, 4b gehalten und gefördert. Die Strangförderbänder 3a, 3b, deren Normalverlauf in Figur 1 mit 3a.1, 3b.1 angedeutet ist, werden über Rollen gefördert, von denen Rollen 8, 7, 8 und 9 dargestellt sind und von denen mindestens eine angetrieben ist.
Dem Formatbereich C werden außer den Tabaksträngen 4a, 4b auch zwei Hüllstreifen 11a, 11b aus Zigarettenpapier zugeführt, die aus einem Kanal 12 (oder aus zwei Kanälen) austreten, in denen sie durch Blasluft aus Kanälen 13.1 und 13.2 in Richtung des Pfeils 14 gefördert werden. Die Hüllstreifen sind über Rollen 16 geführt und werden zu Förderbändern 17a, 17b (Formatbänder) bewegt, die über Rollen geführt sind, von denen ein Rollenpaar 18a, 18b dargestellt ist. Jeweils eines der Formatbandrollenpaare ist angetrieben, so daß die Obertrums der Formatbänder 17a, 17b in Richtung des Pfeils 5 fördern.
Die Tabakstränge 4a, 4b werden im Formathereich C auf die von den Formatbändern 17a, 17b mitgenommenen Hüllstreifen 11a, 11b aufgelegt. In dem Auflagebereich D sind Formatbänder und Hüllstreifen von einem Formatbett schon etwas aufgewölbt (angedeutet mit E), so daß die Hüllstreifen eine Art Rinne bilden. In den im einzelnen nicht dargestellten bekannten Formaten 19a, 19b werden die Hüllstreifen um die Tabakstränge 4a, 4b herumgelegt, anschließend im Nahtbereich beleimt und zu nicht dargestellten Zigarettensträngen verklebt, von denen anschließend einzelne Zigaretten einfacher oder doppelter Gehrauchslänge abgeschnitten werden.
In ähnlicher Weise sind sogenannte Einstrang-Maschinen, z.B. von den in der Zigarettenindustrie bekannten Typen PROTOS 70, 80, 90 und 100 der Anmelderin, ausgebildet, die aber jeweils nur einen Tabakkanal, ein Tabakförderband, einen Tabakstrang, einen Hüllstreifen und ein Format aufweisen. Anstelle eines Tabakstranges kann dem Formatbereich C auch ein Strang oder zwei Stränge aus Filtermaterial zugeführt werden, die ebenfalls mit Hüllstreifen umhüllt und verklebt werden, wonach von den so gebildeten nicht dargestellten Filtersträngen einzelne Filterstäbe abgeschnitten werden. Um ein sicheres Mitnehmen eines Hüllstreifenanfangs zu gewährleisten, ist gemäß der Erfindung jeweils ein Verschiebeelement 21a, 21b für jedes Strangförderbnd 3a, 3b vorgesehen, das beim Zuführen des Anfangsteils eines Hüllstreifens zum Verringern des Abstandes X zwischen Strangförderband und Hüllstreifen auf den Abstand X1 aktivierbar ist. Vorteilhaft greift das Verschiebeelement an dem Strangförderband 3a, 3b an und verschiebt dieses während einer bestimmten Zeitspanne in Richtung des Pfeiles 22, wodurch die Pressung zwischen Hüllstreifen und Tabakstrang so erhöht wird, daß der Anfang des Hüllstreifens zuverlässig mitgenommen und zum Format gefördert wird. In den Figuren 1 (ausgezogen gezeichnet) und 2 sind die Strangförderbänder 3a, 3b nach dem Verschieben dargestellt. Das Verschiebeelement 21 kann Stößel 23a, 23b aufweisen, die auf jeweils ein Tabakförderband 3a, 3b einwirken und die hierzu von einem gemeinsamen Kraftelelement in Form eines elektro-pneumatischen Betätigungszylinders 24 verschiebbar sind. Der Steuerteil 26 des Betätigungszylinders 24 erhält von einer Steueranordnung 27 einen Aktivierungsimpuls einer bestimmten Zeitdauer, sobald sie an einem Eingang a oder b ein Meßsignal von einem Tastelement 28a, 28b im Kanal 12 erhält. Nach dem Aktivieren des Kraftelementes in Form des Betätigungszylinders 24, d. h. nach Beaufschlagen von dessen Steuerteil 26 durch einen Ausgangsimpuls der Steueranordnung 27, bewegt der elektro-pneumatische Betätigungszylinder eine Kolbenstange 29 und mit ihr die Stößel 23a, 23b, während einer vorgegebenen Zeit aus einer Ausgangsposition (in Figur 1 strichliert dargestellt) in Richtung des Pfeils 22. Dadurch werden die Strangförderbänder 3a und 3b aus der strichliert gezeichneten Position (3a.1, 3b.1 in Figur 1), d. h. von ihrer Anlagepositionan an entsprechenden Flächen in den Kanälen 1a, 1b (Figur 2), in die ausgezogen dargestellten Positionen überführt, so daß die Abstände X sich zu X1 verringern und dadurch die Pressung der Tabakstränge 4a, 4b auf die Anfänge der Hüllstreifen 11a, 11b so erhöht wird, daß die Hüllstreifen sicher mitgenommen werden.
Nach Verschwinden des Steuerimpulses am Steuerteil 26 bewegt der Betätigungszylinder 24 die Kolbenstange 29 und damit die Stößel 23a, 23b wieder entsprechend Pfeil 31 in ihre (in Figur 1 strichliert dargestellten) Ausgangspositionen zurück, in denen die Strangförderbänder 3a, 3b wieder in die in Figur 1 strichliert gezeigte Normalstellung (3a.1, 3b.1) gelangen, in der sie an den in Figur 2 mit 3a.1, 3b.1 bezeichneten Flächen anliegen.
