Bei dieser Ausgestaltung saugt der Strahl der Wasserdüse Luft an. Es entsteht ein Wasser-Luft-Sprühstrahl von größerer Gleichmäßigkeit als der reine Wasser-Sprühstrahl. Die größere Gleichmäßigkeit erlaubt es, bei im wesentlichen gleicher Kühlwirkung - der Luftanteil des Wasser-Luft-Sprühstrahles kühlt mit - und bei gleicher oder noch verbesserter Löschfähigkeit für Funken den Wasserverbrauch zu senken.
Auch die staubbindende Wirkung wird vergrößert, zumal staubbeladene Luft noch näher dem Ort der Staubentstehung, der Meißelspitze, angesaugt wird und dann mit Wasser vermischt wird als nach dem oben erwähnten bekannten Stand der Technik.
Zu unterscheiden von diesem Stand der Technik ist jedoch im übrigen, daß kein dichter Wassernebel erzeugt werden soll, sondern weiterhin ein scharf gebündelter und gerichteter, aber eben gleichmäßiger und weniger hart auftreffender Sprühstrahl.
