Description

The invention is in the field of further processing of printed products and relates to a method and a device according to the preambles of the corresponding claims for the production of tubular packages which contain wound, bendable flat objects, in particular a wound scale formation of printed products, and with a protection / hold - Element are wrapped. The invention further relates to a package produced by the aforementioned method according to the preamble of the corresponding independent claim.

According to the prior art, flexible, flat objects, in particular printed products, are wound into tubular packages for transport. In the same winding process, the packages are usually wrapped with a protective / holding element in the form of a sheet of paper or a piece of plastic film. Advantageously, such packages are not actually opened, but rather the printed products are removed from the package individually by engaging in the cavity. The protection / holding element does not have to be destroyed and the scale formation does not have to be pushed together into a stack. Except for the time and that The products that are saved by removing them from the inside of the package are also protected for longer by the protection / holding element against external influences such as moisture and dirt.

Methods and devices for producing such packages are described, for example, in European Patent No. 243906 and in European Patent Application No. 474999 by the same applicant.

If, in addition to the printed products contained as a scale formation, the package is to contain additional information relating to the entire package or the printed products contained therein, this can simply be printed on the protective / holding element or, if this is transparent, can be wrapped immediately below it. Although this is easy to implement from the manufacturing process, it has the disadvantage that the carrier of the additional information can only be separated from the package when the last printed product has been removed from it. If the carrier of the additional information is, for example, a kiosk notice, this is of course not acceptable, since one must be posted before the printed products are offered for sale.

It is therefore the object of the invention to expand the method and device for producing tubular packages from printed products which are encased by a protection / holding element in such a way that the packages contain an enclosed product in such a way that when it is removed from the inside of the Package can be removed before the printed products of the scale formation. The accessory pack should consist of one or more bendable, flat objects, in particular printed products, which can be one-sided, multi-sided, folded, stapled, etc. The procedure and the device should be such that the format of the accessory product can be chosen as freely as possible. The device for carrying out the method should be simple and should differ from corresponding devices according to the prior art if possible only by an additional sub-device.

This object is achieved by the method and device according to the corresponding, independent patent claims.

The inventive method consists essentially in the fact that before the winding of the scale formation is wound up, specifically in the region of its end leading in the winding process and on its side facing the winding mandrel, an accessory pack is assigned. This accessory pack product is positioned relative to the scale formation in such a way that it is wound directly onto the winding mandrel at least in the area of its leading edge, in such a way that at least its edge leading in the wrapping process lies on the inner surface of the cavity in the finished package and is gripped there for removing the accessory pack product can.

zeigt. In the following, the tubular package according to the invention with the protection / holding element and the accessory product will be described, as well as the method according to the invention and the corresponding device. The following figures serve for the description, whereby
Figure 1
an exemplary tubular package according to the invention,
Figure 2
an exemplary scale formation with protection / holding element and by-product before winding and
Figure 3
an exemplary device for producing the packages according to the invention
shows.

FIG. 1 shows a tubular package P according to the invention, consisting of a wound scale formation 1, which can be clearly seen on the end faces of the package, and an accessory product 2, which is just being removed from the package (arrow). The package is covered by a protection / holding element 3, which extends only over the outer surface of the package or over its end faces. The package has an inner cavity and an inner surface around this cavity. To remove the products from the package, one easily reaches into the cavity and grips product edges or corners that lie on this inner surface. So that the accessory product can be removed easily and easily as the first product, it is necessary that at least a part of it (with edge) forms at least part of the inner surface of the package and can be grasped there. It is also advantageous if the accessory product is in no way wrapped between products of the scale formation. These conditions determine the relative positions of the scale formation and the by-product during the wrapping process.

FIG. 2 shows these relative positions of scale formation 1, accessory product 2 and protection / holding element 3 immediately before the winding process. Depending on the length of the scale formation, the representation can correspond to a real state, but in the case of a long scale formation, the leading end of the scale formation will already be wound up when the protection / holding element is assigned to the package. The arrow W indicates the transport direction against the winding device and the direction in which the scale formation is to be wound around a winding mandrel.

The accessory product 2 is assigned to the scale formation 1 on the side 11 concave in the winding and facing the winding mandrel in the winding process, while the protection / holding element 3 is assigned on the opposite side, that is to say the side 12 convex in the winding. So that the leading edge 21 of the accessory product in the winding process comes to rest on the mandrel, it must not run more than the circumference d of the mandrel in the transport direction behind the leading edge 13 of the scale formation 1. This means that it can be positioned either in front of the edge 13, as shown in FIG. 2, or in the same place as the edge 13 or behind the edge 13, but not by more than a distance d that corresponds to the circumference of the mandrel corresponds. In the figure, this means that the edge 21 must be to the right of the line 14.

So that the accessory product 2 is not wrapped between printed products of the scale formation 1, its edge trailing in the winding process must not run behind the edge 13 more than the circumference of the mandrel d.

The length in the transport direction of the accessory product 2 is not subject to any condition insofar as its leading edge 21 can run in front of the leading edge 13 of the scale formation 1 as desired. However, since a very strong prepackaged packaged product greatly extends the winding time, it makes sense not to choose the packaged product too long or to fold it accordingly.

In order that the package product can be removed from the package without being inspected, it is advantageous if, apart from one or more edges of the package product, no product edges on the inner surface of the Package lie. In order for this to be the case, the accessory pack must be longer than the circumference d of the winding mandrel and, as shown in FIG. 2, be positioned on the far right of line 14.

The width of the package product transverse to the transport and winding direction is advantageously equal to or less than the width of the products of the scale formation. This is the only way to ensure that the accessory pack does not stand out from the package and is adequately protected. If the accessory pack is narrower than the printed products of the scale formation, it can be moved in the center of the pack or against an end face or positioned adjacent to one end face.

FIG. 3 shows a very schematic illustration of an exemplary embodiment of the device for carrying out the method according to the invention. It is a device which, apart from a sub-device 30 for the controlled feeding of the accessories 2, corresponds to a device according to the publications by the same applicant, which are assumed to be known here. The device has a transport means 31 for feeding the scale formation and a winding device, of which only the winding mandrel 32 is shown in FIG. It also has, for example, a supply roll 33 for the material of the protective / holding elements and a corresponding conveying and separating device (not shown). The sub-device 30 for the controlled feeding of by-products 2 is advantageously arranged on the same side of the supplied scale formation 1 as the winding mandrel 32. It can be a controllable feeder or a scale buffer or something similar. Such devices correspond to the prior art and need not be described in detail here. The sub-device 30 for supplying the accessory products 2 is coordinated with the supply of the scale formation 1 in such a way that each scale formation intended for one package an accessory product 2 is assigned to the desired position of the leading edge 21.
