Definitions
- the invention relates to an arrangement for fastening an adapter plate receiving a wheel axle to the frame of a wheelchair by means of tensioning screws penetrating the adapter plate and a frame tube.
- the present invention is therefore intended to propose a detachable connection between the adapter plate and the frame which - with simple design of the parts and little assembly effort - can withstand the usual loads, i.e. the mutual position in which the parts are clamped together is permanently fixed.
- this object is achieved in that the support between the adapter plate and the frame tube is formed by edges present on the side of the adapter plate, which extend on both sides of the tensioning screws in the direction of tube surface lines.
- the desired properties are achieved with the invention in a surprisingly simple manner and with corresponding weight and cost savings.
- the arrangement manages with a few individual parts and correspondingly low manufacturing and assembly costs. Since the adapter part only rests on one side of the frame tube, the shape of a practically flat plate results, which is very easy to machine.
- the connection also allows a certain position adjustment of the adapter plate (within the scope of the play of the holes for the tensioning screws). Once tightened, the connection is surprisingly stable: due to the high Edge pressure creates a slight notch, which effectively results in a positive connection.
- FIG. 1 illustrates the situation of a rear wheel 2 mounted on the right side frame 1 of a wheelchair, the frame and wheel being only partially shown.
- An adapter plate 20 is used for storage, which is detachably and "flying" attached to a vertical tube section 10 (strut) of the side frame 1.
- the bearing of the wheel 2 itself (of which the wheel hub only shows the outer flange) on the adapter plate 20 is carried out in a manner known per se and not shown in more detail, for example by means of an adapter sleeve 30 (FIG. 2) seated in the adapter plate and one through the latter Bore and the bore of the wheel hub inserted axis.
- the position of the wheel axle 28 in relation to the frame 1 results primarily from the choice of the attachment point of the adapter plate 20 on the frame.
- FIGS. 2 and 3 An embodiment of the fastening arrangement according to the invention or the connection between adapter plate 20 and frame tube 10 is shown in FIGS. 2 and 3.
- the plate 20 is practically flat and receives the adapter sleeve 30 in a through bore 26, the inner bore of which determines the position and direction of the wheel axle 28.
- a groove 23 is provided, which forms two straight, parallel edges 22 with the said side face 24.
- Two through holes 21 in the adapter plate 20, which are preferably in the plane of symmetry of the edges 22, are aligned with through holes 11 in the frame tube 10.
- Two clamping screws 15 with nuts 16 extend through the holes 21 and 11, with which the adapter plate is held on the frame.
- the bores 11 and 21 mentioned can be carried out with play and usual positional tolerances.
- the support between adapter plate 20 and frame tube 10 is formed solely by the two edges 22, which extend on both sides of the tensioning screws 15 in the direction of tube surface lines, i.e. extend parallel to the tube axis 12.
- the depth of the groove 23 is dimensioned such that the tube is exposed in the groove base, as can be seen from FIG. 2.
- the adapter plate 20 and thus the (geometric) wheel axis 28 can be pivoted with respect to the tube 10 by a few angular degrees (in the region of the play of the bores 11, 21). In the arrangement according to FIG. 1, this means the setting of the wheel track.
- the camber can also be adjusted, in the arrangement according to FIG. 1, in a manner known per se by adjusting the rotational position of a somewhat obliquely drilled adapter sleeve 30.) If the tensioning screws are tightened after the position has been adjusted, the two edges 22 become full pressed against the pipe surface and, while increasing the prestressing of the screws, pressed a little into the metal surface.
- a protective layer (paint or paint application, etc.) on the pipe surface is used pierce the edges so that a solid metallic overlay with a small notch is produced, as illustrated in FIG. 4. This results in an extraordinarily stable connection when the screws are sufficiently pretensioned, which permanently prevents both the pivoting of the adapter plate (seen in FIG. 2) and a displacement of the plate in the direction of the tube axis.
- edges 22 must of course be relatively sharp and at least have sufficient hardness on the material surface.
- the required surface hardness can e.g. can be achieved by anodizing.
- a suitably U-shaped sheet metal strip into the groove 23, e.g. made of hardened steel, to be inserted (not shown), the longitudinal edges of which then form the support edges.
- the distance between the two edges 22 should be chosen appropriately in relation to the pipe diameter; the distance can also be expressed by the angle a entered in FIG. 4 between the screw axis 17 and the radius running through the edge 22.
- the distance (angle) should not be chosen too small, so that there is a sufficiently wide support base, on the other hand, obviously not so large that it approaches the diameter of the tube 10. In an intermediate area, however, this distance is not particularly critical.
- the edge spacing is approximately 64% of the tube diameter or the angle ⁇ is approximately 40 °.
- the same adapter plates 20 can be used for the left and right side frames 1 of the wheelchair.
- the adapter plate 20 there is the possibility of mounting the adapter plate 20 in a position rotated by 180 ° with respect to the vertical axis 12 (FIG. 3), as a result of which the bore 26 - and thus the rear wheel axis 28 - lie behind the vertical strut 10, in contrast to FIG. 1 is coming.
- a certain especially in the case of heavy-weight users) the risk of the wheelchair tipping backwards is considerably reduced.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to an arrangement for fastening an adapter plate receiving a wheel axle to the frame of a wheelchair by means of tensioning screws penetrating the adapter plate and a frame tube.
To releasably attach the adapter plate to the wheelchair frame, it is known and customary to screw two narrow sides of an essentially rectangular plate to two parallel tube sections of the side frame. This results in a stable connection between the plate and the frame and - with a suitable design of the plate - the possibility of using an adapter sleeve, which in turn receives the wheel axle, at different points on the plate and thereby choosing the axial position of the rear wheels with respect to the frame. On the other hand, a relatively large and correspondingly heavy and expensive plate is required in order to bridge the distance between the two frame tubes. It has therefore already been attempted to "fly" a smaller adapter plate to only one section of the frame. However, it has been shown that it is difficult to achieve a solid connection that can withstand the high and often sudden loads on the rear wheels in the long run. Even with complicated designs of the adapter part, in which the frame tube of two adjoining the tube and tightened legs of the part is fork-like, changes in position of the wheel axis with respect to the frame occur after relatively few load changes. Unintentional displacements of the adapter part on the pipe both with respect to the rotational position and in the direction of the pipe axis then quickly cause the through holes in the pipe for the tensioning screws to "knock out". The consequence of this is serious changes in the driving geometry, in particular the wheel track. One could try to prevent any subsequent change of position by means of dowel screws (ie without bore play), but this would require extremely precisely aligned bores both on the frame and on the adapter part.
The present invention is therefore intended to propose a detachable connection between the adapter plate and the frame which - with simple design of the parts and little assembly effort - can withstand the usual loads, i.e. the mutual position in which the parts are clamped together is permanently fixed.
According to the invention, this object is achieved in that the support between the adapter plate and the frame tube is formed by edges present on the side of the adapter plate, which extend on both sides of the tensioning screws in the direction of tube surface lines.
As has been shown in practical tests, the desired properties are achieved with the invention in a surprisingly simple manner and with corresponding weight and cost savings. The arrangement manages with a few individual parts and correspondingly low manufacturing and assembly costs. Since the adapter part only rests on one side of the frame tube, the shape of a practically flat plate results, which is very easy to machine. The connection also allows a certain position adjustment of the adapter plate (within the scope of the play of the holes for the tensioning screws). Once tightened, the connection is surprisingly stable: due to the high Edge pressure creates a slight notch, which effectively results in a positive connection.
Particular, advantageous embodiments of the arrangement according to the invention are specified in the dependent claims.

An embodiment of the fastening arrangement according to the invention or the connection between
In the arrangement shown, the support between
As long as the
The
Beim dargestellten, als zweckmässig erachteten Beispiel beträgt der Kantenabstand etwa 64 % des Rohrdurchmessers bzw. der Winkel α rund 40°.The distance between the two edges 22 (width of the groove 23) should be chosen appropriately in relation to the pipe diameter; the distance can also be expressed by the angle a entered in FIG. 4 between the
As can be easily seen, the
