- the invention relates to an upset folding machine with at least one pair of folding rollers and with at least one folding pocket which has a stop rail which extends over the width of the folding pocket and is fastened to lateral actuators, and to a paper deflector device which, through the stop rail, moves from a position keeping the fold pocket mouth open to one position the deflecting position closing the fold pocket mouth can be brought, the stop rail for determining the fold length and the fold shape being individually adjustable by means of an electrical drive acting on the actuators by a programmable control device or manually.
- the invention has for its object to provide a paper deflector device in a buckle folding machine of the type mentioned, which can be brought into and removed from the locking position closing the fold pocket mouth in a simpler manner and with less construction effort and which can be removed even for the highest load trouble-free operation has the required stability.
- the stop rail has a plurality of stop fingers on its side facing the fold pocket mouth, the front end faces of which, lying in a common plane, serve as paper stop together within the fold pocket and which can be brought into a front deflection position by the actuators, in which their together serve as a paper deflector at the front end faces and guide the folded material arriving at the fold pocket mouth past the fold pocket into the subsequent fold point.
- the paper deflector device and the paper stop rail of the folding pocket are integrated into a structural unit and are thereby considerably simplified both in terms of the structural complexity and in terms of their respective function-related adjustment.
- a stop stability is achieved in the deflecting position of the stop fingers, which is sufficient even for the highest loads, because the stop rail itself, also reinforced by the stop fingers, can also absorb large stop forces.
- Claims 2 to 8 relate to advantageous refinements of the invention, which in particular ensure a simple, inexpensive construction and also a safe functioning.
- a partially cut and halved plan view of a folding pocket 1 is shown simplified, which consists of a plurality of staggered and vertically spaced lattice bars 2 and 3, each through cross bars 4 and 5 to an upper lattice 6 and a lower grid 7 are connected to one another and form an inlet slot 8 with one another (FIG. 3). While the lower, consisting of the bars 3 grid 7, which also forms the bottom of the folding pocket, is arranged in a stationary manner, the upper grid 6 can be opened up about the axis of the crossbar.
- the inlet-side end of the folding pocket 1, which is referred to below as the folding pocket mouth 9, has a guide rail 10 as the lower lip of the folding pocket mouth 9, the upper guide surface of which lies in the plane of the inlet slot 8.
- This guide rail 10 is an integral part of an angle rail 11, which is fixed in place by means of a rear fastening strip 12 on the frame, not shown.
- the Guide rail 10 In the area of the upper bending edge 13, which is rounded on the back, is the Guide rail 10 provided with rectangular recesses 14, which allow a U-shaped profiled stop rail 43 of the folding pocket 1 to move into this area.
- the upper lip of the folding pocket mouth 9 is formed by guide tongues 15 bent at an acute angle, which are integrally formed on an upper guide rail 16 which runs parallel to the guide rail 10 at a distance.
- this guide rail 16 with the guide tongues 15 is only shown in the lower half of FIG. 1 and in FIGS. 3 and 4. It is attached by means of an upstand 17 to the vertical leg 18 of an angle plate 19, the horizontal leg 20 of which is firmly connected, for example welded, to the front end sections of the upper bars 6 of the folding pocket 1. So that the guide tongues 15 always maintain a minimum distance from the guide rail 10, 10 spacer blocks 21 are arranged on the guide rail 10 below the edge lines 15 '.
- support springs 22 are arranged between the guide rail 10 and the guide rail, which are guided by vertical screws 23. These screws are screwed into the guide rail 10 so that they are the guide rail 16 allow an upward movement of a few millimeters.
- three folding rollers W1, W2 and W3 are arranged with respect to one another in such a way that they form two folding points, namely a first folding point F1 and a second folding point F2, and that the axes A1 and A2 of the two folding rollers W1 and W3 are vertical lie on top of each other.
- the U-shaped stop rail 43 which is fastened by means of screws to the upper run of two toothed belts 26, 27, so that it can be moved in the longitudinal direction of the folding pocket 1.
- This movement of the stop rail 43 takes place with the aid of two toothed belts 26, 27 which are each arranged along the side of the folding pocket 1 and are guided on the inlet side via a deflection roller 24, 25 and which are driven by the pulleys 29, 30 of a common drive shaft 31.
- the drive shaft 31 is driven by an electric motor 32, the shaft 33 of which is in gear connection with the drive shaft 31 via two toothed wheels 34 and 35.
- a spiral potentiometer 36 is provided, the adjusting shaft 37 via two gears 38 and 39 also with the Drive shaft 31 is in geared connection and is used to register the respective angular position of the drive shaft 31 or the depth position of the stop rail 43 and to report it to control electronics (not shown).
- the electric motor 32 is also controlled by this control electronics.
- the U-shaped stop rail 43 has groove-like depressions 40 on its upper side, in which the upper bars 2 of the folding pocket 1 are guided with little play, and rectangular recesses 41 on their underside, in the middle of each of the lower bars 3 run.
- the stop rail 43 is thus guided between the upper and lower bars 2, 3 of the folding pocket and is movable in the direction of the double arrow 42.
- this stop rail 43 of the upset fold machine is provided with a plurality of stop fingers 44 each of the same design, which are provided with the stop rail 43 are adjustable so that they serve in positions within the folding pocket 1 as a stop and flow limiter for the incoming folded material and a front end position, which is also a deflection position, as a paper deflector.
- the stop fingers 44 embody the paper deflector device in the deflection position shown in solid lines in FIGS. 1 and 4. As can best be seen from FIG.
- such a stop finger 44 consists of an elongated solid body with two parallel side surfaces 45, 46, a flat bottom surface 47 running at right angles thereto, and a concave front end surface 48.
- the upper side is approximately up to Half extending first surface portion 49, which is slightly lower than the upper boundary edge 50 of the end face 48.
- This first surface portion 49 is followed by a slope 51, a second surface portion 52, both opposite the upper boundary edge 50 and the first surface portion 49 is offset upwards.
- This surface section parallel to the bottom surface 47 has a height H with respect to the bottom surface 47, which is slightly greater than the vertical distance that the guide rail 16 held by the support spring 22 is from the guide rail 10. It is thereby achieved that the stop fingers 44 receive an additional position fixation in their deflection position (FIG.
- the guide rail 16 rests with its own weight on the surface sections 52 and the stop fingers 44 with the bottom surfaces 47 in total on the guide rail 10.
- the height H1 of the end face 48 is selected so that it is slightly smaller than the distance that the two folding rollers W1 and W3 lying vertically one above the other have from one another, so that this distance is almost completely bridged by the end faces 48 in the deflection position of the stop fingers.
- the stop finger 44 has a rectangular cutout 53 on the underside with a horizontal seat 54 and a vertical contact surface 55.
- a threaded bore 56 for a fastening screw 57, with which the individual stop fingers 44 are fastened to the stop rail 43, as can be seen in FIG. 4, in such a way that the seat surfaces 54 sit on the upper side of the stop rail 43 and the contact surfaces 55 rest on the front.
- a longitudinal groove 58 is machined, the width of which corresponds approximately to the diameter of a lower lattice bar 3 and the depth of which is somewhat less than half the diameter of the lattice bar 3.
- the stop fingers 44 are arranged in such a way that the lower bars 3 each run in the longitudinal groove 58 of a stop finger 44 and the stop fingers 44 each rest loosely with the groove base 59 on a lattice bar 3. This ensures that the front end faces 48, which serve as a stop, of the stop fingers 44 end below the plane of the inlet slot 8 and incoming folding material cannot run under the stop fingers 44, but is stopped on the end face 48.
- the guide ribs which are guided in the longitudinal grooves 58 instead of the lattice bars 3.
- the stop rail 43 is only fastened to the flexible toothed belt 26, 27 with its lateral fastening tabs 60, 61, the stop fingers 44 fastened to the stop rail 43 are also flexible in the vertical direction, ie can be pivoted through an angle of approximately 10 ° in the vertical direction.
- This has the advantage that the weakly concave end faces 48 can assume a somewhat steeper position within the folding pocket than in the deflection position of FIG. 4, in which the end faces 48 have to assume a somewhat more inclined position due to the function in order to arrive at the fold point F1 Guide the folded goods safely past the folding pocket 1 directly into the folding point F2.
- FIGS. 3 and 4 These different positions of the stop fingers 44 can be seen in FIGS. 3 and 4. If the stop rail 43 is rigidly guided laterally, a fastening of the stop fingers 44 is preferably selected, which enables a relative pivoting movement, which should be at least 3 °, between the stop fingers 44 and the stop rail 43.
- the electric motor 32 which effects the desired setting of the stop fingers 44 or the stop rail 43 is controlled in the usual way by an electronic program control unit or manually. It is also readily possible to vary the front deflection position of the stop fingers 44 in the millimeter range in such a way that the optimum setting is ensured depending on the type of material to be folded.
- stop fingers 44 made of a material with a high specific weight, for. B. steel exist, so have a large inertial mass that can not be easily set in motion or even vibrate by the striking folded material. This results in a high level of functional reliability even at high working speeds and heavy folded goods.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to an upset folding machine with at least one pair of folding rollers and with at least one folding pocket which has a stop rail which extends over the width of the folding pocket and is fastened to lateral actuators, and to a paper deflector device which, through the stop rail, moves from a position keeping the fold pocket mouth open to one position the deflecting position closing the fold pocket mouth can be brought, the stop rail for determining the fold length and the fold shape being individually adjustable by means of an electrical drive acting on the actuators by a programmable control device or manually.
In upset folding machines there are paper deflectors which can be actuated by electromagnetic drive means and return springs and are each arranged in front of a folding pocket and to close the fold pocket mouth can be moved into a corresponding blocking position, because of the usually restricted space between the fold pocket mouth on the one hand and the folding rollers in front of it on the other hand, made of relatively thin, rod-shaped profile parts which, like the folding rollers, can have a length of 50 cm and more. They therefore have a relatively low flexural strength in the transverse direction to their flat side, which can lead to an inadequate guiding function when processing thick or heavy papers or when processing multiple sheets of paper if the paper deflector is in its locked position in which it is Folded pocket mouth closes. This lack of flexural strength can result in excessive deflection of the paper deflector and lead to a paper jam.
This disadvantage is also present in a known paper guide device of the type mentioned at the beginning (
In order to give the paper deflector in its blocking position closing the fold pocket mouth a higher stability in a paper guide device of the type described above, it has also already been proposed to arrange a support rail that is operatively connected to the switching elements of the paper stop on the side of the paper deflector facing the fold pocket the blocking position of the paper deflector rests against the rear thereof and which, in the rest position of the paper deflector, assumes a starting position removed from it.
Apart from the fact that the inadequate guide rail as a paper deflector is also still present in this solution and does not guarantee adequate functional reliability under extreme loads, the combination of the mechanical control and actuation means results for the paper deflector with the additional support rail and its actuating means, a complicated and costly construction, which can contain a number of sources of interference.
The invention has for its object to provide a paper deflector device in a buckle folding machine of the type mentioned, which can be brought into and removed from the locking position closing the fold pocket mouth in a simpler manner and with less construction effort and which can be removed even for the highest load trouble-free operation has the required stability.
This object is achieved according to the invention in that the stop rail has a plurality of stop fingers on its side facing the fold pocket mouth, the front end faces of which, lying in a common plane, serve as paper stop together within the fold pocket and which can be brought into a front deflection position by the actuators, in which their together serve as a paper deflector at the front end faces and guide the folded material arriving at the fold pocket mouth past the fold pocket into the subsequent fold point.
By means of the solution according to the invention, the paper deflector device and the paper stop rail of the folding pocket are integrated into a structural unit and are thereby considerably simplified both in terms of the structural complexity and in terms of their respective function-related adjustment. Mainly, however, a stop stability is achieved in the deflecting position of the stop fingers, which is sufficient even for the highest loads, because the stop rail itself, also reinforced by the stop fingers, can also absorb large stop forces.

In Fig. 1, a partially cut and halved plan view of a folding pocket 1 is shown simplified, which consists of a plurality of staggered and vertically spaced
The inlet-side end of the folding pocket 1, which is referred to below as the folding pocket mouth 9, has a
The upper lip of the folding pocket mouth 9 is formed by

In front of the folding pocket mouth 9 of the folding pocket 1, three folding rollers W1, W2 and W3 are arranged with respect to one another in such a way that they form two folding points, namely a first folding point F1 and a second folding point F2, and that the axes A1 and A2 of the two folding rollers W1 and W3 are vertical lie on top of each other.
In the folding pocket 1 there is the U-shaped
As can best be seen from FIG. 2, the U-shaped

The height H1 of the end face 48 is selected so that it is slightly smaller than the distance that the two folding rollers W1 and W3 lying vertically one above the other have from one another, so that this distance is almost completely bridged by the end faces 48 in the deflection position of the stop fingers.
At the rear end section, the

Since the
These different positions of the

It is also advantageous if the
