Abstract

The garment hanger has a bow member (10) made of round wire or rolled wire, the ends of which are bent to form supporting hooks (14) which are directed inwards and have substantially horizontally extending portions (16), the hook ends (18) being directed upwards and slightly outwards, and also a cross-member (20) the ends of which can be hung onto the hook ends (18), and a suspension hook (12) which projects upwards from the bow member (10). The round wire or rolled wire is dimensioned such that the bow member (10) alone has a sufficient load-carrying capacity. The supporting hooks (14) have an angular shape, the hook ends (18) projecting virtually at right angles from the substantially horizontally extending portions (16). Eyes (22) are formed at the ends of the cross-member (20), by means of which the cross-member (20) can be hung onto the supporting hooks (14). The length of the cross-member (20) is somewhat smaller than the spacing of the supporting hooks (14), so that the bow member (10) is tensioned by the hung-on cross-member (20). <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a hanger with a hanger body made of round wire or rolled wire, from which a hanging hook protrudes upwards, and with a crossbar. As usual, the clothes hanger can be provided with an anti-slip coating. The ends of the bracket body are bent into support hooks which are directed inwards and have substantially horizontal sections, the hook ends being directed upwards and slightly outwards. The ends of the crossbar can be attached to these hooks.

Such a hanger is known from US-A-2 391 947. The support hooks are designed in such a way that the horizontal section merges into the hook ends via a downward sweeping arc, as a result of which they spring. The hook ends point outwards at an angle of approximately 45 °. A wooden crossbar is attached to the hook ends, the resilient hook ends pressing the lateral ends of the crossbar against the bracket body and thereby clamping. To achieve an engagement between the crossbar ends and the bracket body, the crossbar ends are provided with a groove. The crossbar is therefore not removable and should give the hanger the necessary strength. This hanger is therefore e.g. cannot be used in such a way that the crossbar is removed and a skirt with its side loops is hung on the support hook.

From US-A-1 514 987 a clothes hanger with a crossbar is known, the crossbar by a continuation of the wire of the hanger body from one end of the hanger body is formed. At the free end of the crossbar an eyelet is formed, which can be hung on a hook at the other end of the bracket body. This hanger can only be used together with the crossbar. The hook at the other end of the bracket body is rounded at the support point.

Hangers made from a closed wire hanger are very easy to manufacture. However, no clips can be attached to such a coat hanger since the clips must be attached before the wire hanger is closed. When the clothes hanger is dipped to apply a non-slip coating, the clips would interfere because they must not be dipped.

The invention has for its object to provide a hanger that is easy to manufacture with sufficient stability and is designed to optionally accommodate a crossbar, the crossbar is easily removable and can not jam.

This object is achieved by a hanger with the features of claim 1.

The support hooks have a section which extends substantially horizontally inwards from the ends of the bracket body and from which project vertically upward and slightly outward ends, so that the support hooks have an angular shape. The angle between the horizontal section and the hook end is preferably in the range of 75 to 88 °. This allows a crossbar with eyelets to be easily attached to its ends and the crossbar is held securely by the tension of the bracket body. The angular shape of the support hook prevents the crossbar from jamming on the support hook prevented. The hook ends are preferably angled in a sharp bend with such a small radius that the eyelets rest on the horizontally running section. The bending radius is preferably not greater than half the diameter of the wire of the crossbar or half the longer cross-sectional dimension of the rolled wire of the crossbar. Due to the tension under which the hanger body is through the crossbar, it can happen in particular with a non-slip coating of the clothes hanger that the crossbar does not rest on this horizontal section without load, but rests in an intermediate position on the hook ends. Even at low loads, the crossbar should fall onto the horizontal sections of the support hooks.

The crossbar is preferably made of rolled wire, the longer cross-sectional dimension being vertical. The diameter of the eyelets at the ends of the crossbar is selected so that the eyelets slide over the hook ends with little play. In conjunction with the angular shape of the support hooks, this prevents the crossbar from wobbling on the support hooks.

The bracket body can consist of round wire or rolled wire, ie consist of any solid wire. The wire diameter is preferably in the range from 4 to 6.5 mm. The wire provides the necessary tension to hold the crossbar securely. Coat hangers are usually made of profiled steel tape for better stability. Profiled steel band is, however, less suitable for the hanger according to the present invention, since a hanger body made of profiled steel band does not provide the necessary tension for securely holding the crossbar. In particular, profiled steel strip bends easily permanently, such a bend then cannot be undone. A bow body made of round wire or rolled wire, however, can be bent back into the correct shape if it was bent during handling.

The bracket body can be provided in the usual way with a non-slip plastic coating while leaving out the suspension hook. However, the crossbar with the clips that may be attached to it does not have a plastic coating.

A cross piece 20 is clamped between the support hooks 14. As can be seen from FIG. 2, the cross piece 20 consists of a round wire or rolled wire, the ends of which are bent into round eyelets which enclose the hook ends 18 of the support hooks 14. The inner diameter of the eyelets 22 is only slightly larger than the outer diameter of the hook ends 18, so that the cross bar 20 is held by the stock hooks 14 with little play. The distance between the eyelets 22 is selected so that it is somewhat smaller than the distance between the hook ends 18 in the idle state, so that the bracket body is stretched somewhat by the crossbar 20 used. In connection with the slightly outwardly pointing hook ends 18, the angular shape of the hooks and the close adaptation of the inside diameter of the eyelets 22 to the outside diameter of the hook ends 18, the cross piece 20 is thereby held securely and cannot wobble. The fit of the crosspiece 20 on the support hook 14 can be improved by a laterally flattened cross section of the wire from which the crosspiece 20 is made. In order to remove the crossbar 20, the bracket body 10 has to be compressed somewhat so that the eyelets 22 can be lifted off the hook ends 18. The eyelets rest on the horizontal sections 16 and thus have a defined position without being able to jam on the support hook 14. With a round shape of the support hook, there is a risk of the eyelets jamming or tilting on the support hook.

The crossbar 20 has no plastic coating. It can have clips 24 by means of which a skirt or trousers can be hung up. The brackets 24 can be slidably mounted on the crossbar. If the crosspiece 20 consists of round wire, the clamps 40 can be rotated. If, on the other hand, the crosspiece 20 consists of rolled wire so that it has a non-round, laterally flattened cross section, the clamps 24 can be mounted on the cross rod 20 in a rotationally secure manner by appropriately shaping the openings in the clamps through which the crosspiece 20 passes.

The hanger according to the invention can be used with or without a crossbar. Without a crossbar, it can be used to hang up jackets, shirts and blouses, for example.

A skirt can also be hung using the support hooks. With the crossbar attached, the clothes hanger can also be used to hang up trousers, the trousers being placed over the crossbar 20 if the latter does not have clips. Since the crossbar 20 can be easily hooked in and out, it is not necessary to thread the trouser legs between the bracket body 10 and the crossbar 20, but the crossbar is removed, the pants are placed over the crossbar and the crossbar is then hung again . If the crosspiece 20 has clips 24, trousers, skirts and any other items of clothing can be fastened using the clips.
