Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method for joining together paper layers provided with edge recesses and binding bodies whose cross-sectional profile is essentially matched to the shape of the edge recesses.
The invention also relates to a device for joining together paper layers provided with edge recesses and binding bodies which in their cross-sectional profile are essentially matched to the shape of the edge recesses.
The object of the invention is to automate the production of writing pads or similar objects composed of the components mentioned at the outset in a manner which increases the performance and reduces the operating effort.
This object is achieved in that the binding bodies lined up at a defined mutual distance in a binding station are fixed in a force-fitting and positive manner, and in that the paper layers are pressed with the underside of the layer into the profile of the binding bodies while deforming their material sections delimiting the edge recesses.
Appropriately, as a basis for the practice of the method according to the invention, a starting product is assumed in which the binding bodies consisting of individual bodies are kept at a defined mutual distance by cover cards inserted like a ring binder.
The punched-out areas at the edges of the layers can have different shapes, for example an L-shaped design, to fulfill their holding function. In that of the invention underlying product, however, the paper layers provided with T-shaped edge recesses are pressed onto one side of a double-T-shaped cross-sectional profile of the binding body.
In order to facilitate insertion and to protect the sheet edges deformed in the process, according to a further proposal, individual paper part layers are separated from a sheet layer positioned above the binding body and pressed one after the other up to the intended block thickness onto the binding body.
In order to create the same starting conditions when all successive paper part layers are pressed in, it is provided that the paper part layers pressed onto the binding bodies are each substantially lowered by one layer thickness, at least in the binding region.
With an increasing accumulation of pressed-on paper part layers, the insertion of the remaining paper part layers is also facilitated by the fact that the binding bodies are raised by a small amount at least after threading several paper layers.
Additional measures are used to optimize the workflow, according to which the binding bodies connected with cover cardboard are transferred into the binding station in the direction of their longitudinal axis, and after which the sheet layers are transferred transversely to the binding edge into the binding station and are held non-positively on their side opposite the binding edge until all partial layers are threaded .
The device for carrying out the method described at the outset is characterized by a binding station, each with a series of binding elements with holding means which record and fix each other at a defined mutual distance, and with holding means arranged between the holding means and placed on the paper layers next to the edge recesses or the binding elements acting impression means.
The pressing-in process is most gently and effectively ensured by a stroking movement of the pressing-in means, which according to one embodiment is generated in that the finger ends of the pressing-in means designed as a finger strip can be moved along a closed curved path.
In order to avoid tears in the area of the edge recesses during the deformation of the wall sections of the paper layers delimiting the edge recesses, the paper layers and the binding bodies must be positioned exactly with respect to one another. A further embodiment serves this purpose, according to which the holding means consist of groove-shaped recesses receiving the annular binding bodies and of clamping fingers pressing the binding bodies against a support strip.
To facilitate the threading of successive layers of paper or to create the indispensable starting conditions for this, the recesses extend, according to a further development, half in a stationary table that holds the cardboard papers threaded into the binding bodies and the other half in one that holds the threaded paper layers and each by a layer thickness lowerable table bar of the binding station.
The arrangement is also such that extends between the table and the table bar, the height-adjustable support bar carrying the binding body.
A functionally and performance advantageously integrated in the binding station provides that the binding station is provided with a sheet layer device, consisting of a movable along a closed curve support plate for the paper layers and a movable in the longitudinal direction relative to the support plate sword for dividing individual layers of paper from multi-strong sheet layers .
To complete the binding station, the sheet layer sub-device is assigned on the top side a platform which in each case holds a multi-strong sheet layer held by pliers grip and which can be tilted relative to the support plate of the sheet layer sub-device.
In order to achieve an optimal interaction of all device elements on the one hand and to prevent their mutual hindrance on the other hand, it is also proposed that the binding station is assigned a pushing comb which is immersed between the binding elements and which can be moved parallel to their longitudinal axis and swiveled transversely and which, after the introduction of a binding element formation into the binding station can be moved out of the working area of the device elements performing the threading process.
The advantage achieved with the invention is that the workflow optimized with regard to the formation of the partial layers, their alignment and positioning before and after the respective binding process and the form of movement of the indentation movement, as a whole, provides a guarantee of a quality-consistent end product which is more effective with reduced operating effort is produced.
The invention is explained below with reference to the embodiment shown in the accompanying figures.
