Abstract

The invention relates to an edging rail for wall or floor coverings, in particular those consisting of ceramic material, having a blade-like fastening leg (2; 102), which has a thickness of below, or anything up to, 1.5 mm, and having an edging leg (3; 103) which is thicker than the fastening leg (2; 102), the edging leg (3; 103) protruding upwards from the end of the fastening leg (2; 102) and, with its free end, defining a projection (U) towards the profile interior. For the purpose of improved bonding with the abutting mortar or adhesive, the invention proposes that the edging leg (3; 103) have a wall (3.2; 3.3; 103.2; 103.3) which is bent in the form of a ( and the outer tangent (T) of which has an angle of tau </= 90 DEG with respect to the underside of the fastening leg (2; 102) and which, at its end, defines a projection (U) - measured from the internal angle of the leg-joining region (4; 104) - of at least one wall thickness of the edging leg (3; 103). <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to an end rail for wall or floor coverings, in particular those made of ceramic material, with a blade-like, under or up to 1.5 mm thick fastening leg, and with an end leg which has a greater thickness than the fastening leg, the end leg from the end of Fastening leg stands up and describes a protrusion with its free end towards the inside of the profile.

Such an end rail is shown, for example, in CH-PS 652 163. The angular profile shown in this previously published patent specification is used to close off floor or wall coverings made of ceramic material. The end leg has an inward widening, approximately rectangular in cross section. A disadvantage of the previously known rail is that the volume of mortar to be located between the end leg, the widening and the fastening leg has only a relatively slight contact with the inner surface of the end leg when laying the ceramic floor and wall coverings and, moreover, a very close contact in the course of the contact surface Angle between the widening and the end leg results, which experience has shown that mortar detachment under mechanical stress and under heat movement.

It is the task of specifying an end rail for wall or floor coverings in which the aforementioned disadvantages do not occur, in particular a particularly intimate adhesion of the mortar volume to the end rail, which can also be observed when the transition is stressed by vibrations, thermal movements and slight torsions prevents a significant detachment of the mortar.

This object is achieved with an end rail, the end leg of which has a (-shaped wall, the outer gangue of which has an angle of τ ≦ 90 ° with respect to the outside of the fastening leg and which has at its end a protrusion - measured from the inner angle of the leg junction - of at least one Wall thickness of the end leg describes.

Accordingly, the end leg does not form an L-shaped configuration towards the free end, but is curved, so that the mortar mass can nestle under the curvature of the end leg.

The width of the overhang is variable. A supernatant is usually used which is 2 to 4 times the thickness of the end leg. However, it should not be ruled out that a relatively small protrusion is selected, in particular at high heights of the end limb, and a relatively large protrusion is selected for smaller end legs, in each case relative to the thickness of the end leg.

The configuration of the curvature of the end limb can, for example, be such that the end limb is part of a jacket of a hollow cylinder with a circular or elliptical base area. It can be the contour the outer surface of the closing leg can also be a parabola, which has its origin in the free end of the closing leg. Other forms of curvature are also conceivable, for example that of a clotoid.

The thickness of the end leg can also taper upwards, for example; however, it should preferably be the same over the entire length.

In order to have a perfect finish and the edges of the adjoining ceramic plates are not too heavily loaded, the end leg should end in a flat, vertical end surface. Of course, it is also possible for the end face to be corrugated.

It should also not be ruled out that a certain material thickening is provided at the end of the end leg, for example an I, L or T configuration, which, however, is so small that the nesting of the mortar mentioned at the beginning is not disturbed.

It is particularly advantageous to provide the inner surface of the end leg and / or the outer surface of the fastening leg with structures that increase adhesion, for example grooves with a height of 0.1 to 0.5 mm.

In order to achieve a further improvement in the anchoring, a retaining web is provided above from the inside of the end leg and parallel to the top of the fastening leg, which can also end in a thickening, preferably in an L or T configuration. This retaining web should have the same or a slightly less protrusion than the end leg.

The end rail is preferably made of hard PVC. However, it should not be excluded that metals, preferably brass, are also used.

As is known per se, the fastening leg should also be provided with openings.

The term “blade-like” mentioned at the outset relates to the fact that the fastening leg is to be laid below a ceramic tile when laying thin beds. It has been shown that the leg should therefore be approximately 1.5 mm thick. It can also taper towards the free end and thus achieve improved strength while saving material.

Usual heights of the rails correspond to the construction heights of the floor coverings; realistic heights are therefore 8, 10 or 12 mm and the like. The illustrated end rail 1 has a blade-like, i.e. relatively thin and long mounting leg 2. The fastening leg 2 tapers from the leg junction 4 to its free end. Even at the thickest point, its thickness is equal to or less than 1.5 mm.

The fastening leg is provided with openings 7, which serve to improve the passage of mortar or adhesive when laying.

Furthermore, an end leg 3 is provided, which is made in one piece with the fastening leg, for example as an extruded profile made of hard PVC. The end leg 3 has a greater thickness than the fastening leg 2, the end leg 3 rising from the end of the fastening leg 1 and with its free end toward the inside of the profile describing an overhang U.

The end leg 3 has a (-shaped outer wall 3.2 and a parallel parallel inner wall 3.3. The outer tangent T on the outer wall 3.2 initially has an angle I of 90 ° with respect to the outer side 2.1 of the fastening leg. If the tangent moves further upwards, then the angle I becomes smaller and smaller until it even approaches 0 ° at the end, ie at the end there is a horizontally tapering apex surface 3.4. The final leg ends in a flat, vertical end surface 3.5. In the aforementioned embodiment, the end leg ends without further thickening at its end. However, it should not be excluded that a thickening is provided here for optical or reasons of stability, for example in an L or T configuration.

It is particularly advantageous to provide grooves with a height of 0.1 to 0.5 mm and a width of about 0.2 mm with corresponding spacings (cf. FIG. 1), which as adhesion-increasing structures on the inner wall 3.3 of the end leg and / or are arranged on the underside 2.1 of the fastening leg 2.

Figur 3).As a further essential element for increasing the embedding quality of the end rail, a retaining web 6 projecting from the inner wall of the end leg and parallel to the upper side of the fastening leg is provided. The retaining web has a T-shaped end thickening 6.1. As can be seen, the retaining web 6 has a somewhat smaller projection than the end leg 3. This results in a thicker layer of mortar between the outer edge of a floor covering element 10 (e.g. tile) and the retaining web (see FIG. 3).

Hard PVC, other plastics, possibly glass fiber reinforced plastics, but also metals, preferably brass, are suitable as the material for the end rail. In principle, all materials can be used that are already known for the production of such end rails.

Figure 2 shows the top rail in plan view. It can be seen that the end leg 3 protrudes relatively far to the inside of the profile.

Figure 3 shows a typical laying situation. A floor covering element, here a tile 10, is embedded in mortar 11. In the area in the vicinity of the end face 3.5, which is stressed by thermal movements and the introduction of force, only a relatively thin layer is provided between the edge of the tile 10 and the end face. A relatively large amount of mortar fills the cavity lying under the overhang of the end limb, in which the retaining web 6 is embedded anchored.

In Figure 4, an end rail 101 is shown. It consists of a fastening leg 102 which merges into a closing leg 103. The fastening leg 102 tapers as seen from the end leg 103 towards its free end. It has a length of approximately 20 to 25 mm in relation to a height of between 6 and 15 mm of the end leg 103. The height of the end leg 103 is specifically determined by the respective height of the floor coverings.

Die freie Innenwandung 103.3 trägt auf ihrer freien Fläche Riefen 105.2.The end limb 103 has a (-shaped outer wall 103.2. The outer tangent of the outer wall 103.2 has an angle of 90 ° on the fastening leg 102 with respect to an outer side 102.1 of the fastening leg 102. The further the outer tangent T migrates to an apex surface 103.4 of the end leg 103, the more 4, the outer wall 103.2 tilts into a horizontally tapering apex surface 103.4 after a relatively large angle τ. The apex surface 103.4 is thus a flat, essentially parallel to the underside 102.1 surface of the fastening leg 102. This is followed by a corrugated, vertically running end surface 103.5, into which the end leg 103 ends, and an inner wall 103.3 runs parallel to the outer wall 103.2 A holding web 106 is arranged in the middle of the inner wall 103.3 and merges into a rounded thickening. Of course, it is also possible for the side surfaces of the holding web 106 to run parallel to one another and to end with a half or partial rounding toward the front. The free inner wall 103.3 has grooves 105.2 on its free surface.

The fastening leg 102 is provided with openings 107. They serve to allow the passage of fasteners in the form of mortar, adhesive or the like, in order to facilitate laying and to ensure that the end rail is held. In order to further improve the adhesion to the subsurface, the fastening leg 102 is provided with grooves 105.1 on its underside 102.1.

If the end rail 101 with the underside 102.1 of the fastening leg 102 lies on a straight surface, the fastening leg 102 in the area of a leg merging 104 has approximately the same cross section as the adjoining fastening leg 103. The leg merging 104 can be angular or rounded. If the leg merging 104 is rounded, this rounding merges into the rounded groove 102 in order to then merge into the retaining web 106 via a partial surface of the inner wall 103 that runs parallel to the outer wall. The opposite surface of the retaining web 106 likewise ends in a rounded manner in the next straight surface of the inner wall 103. The region between the remaining straight inner wall 103 and the adjoining region of the corrugated end surface is likewise provided with a fillet. Of course, it is also possible that all curves are single or polygonal.

As can be seen in particular from FIG. 6, the forward protruding projection U and the special design of the inner wall 103.3 of the end leg 103 allow mortar 111 to penetrate into the free area towards the edge of a tile 110. As can also be seen from FIG. 5, the protrusion U of the end leg 103 tilts far beyond the fastening leg 102, an area of high adhesive strength is created here. The corrugated end surface 103.5 also ensures good adhesive strength. It is ensured that, on the one hand, the end surface 103.5 lies very closely against the tile 110 and, on the other hand, so much mortar can be absorbed that there is completely reliable adhesion. With the flat apex 103.4 there is also a flush seal with the outer surface of the tile 110. The fact that the end rail 101 intimately the fastener z. B. integrated in the form of mortar 111, the inner wall 103.3 or the underside 102.1 with its openings 107 does not separate smoothly from the mortar 111, but rather strains it so much that it tears apart. As a result, the adhesiveness of the entire end rail 101 to the tile 110 is determined by the fastening properties of the fastening element, e.g. in the form of mortar 111 or the like.

A closure rail 101 of the described embodiment can in principle be produced from all materials that are conceivable for such closure rails. Hard PVC, other plastics, glass fiber reinforced plastics, metals, preferably brass, steel and the like are particularly suitable.
