Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
The transmission of control information in telecontrol systems has been known for a long time, for example DE-OS 38 13 820 shows a system for transmitting control commands by means of an HF transmission / reception system.
For the transmission of the commands, so-called telegrams are used which, in addition to the actual control commands for the machine to be controlled, contain a unique assignment feature (address), through the evaluation of which the receiver is able to determine whether the telegrams come from the sender assigned to them or Not. These telegrams are generated in the remote control transmitter by a corresponding electronic circuit (encoder) and modulated onto the RF signal generated by the RF transmitter (usually frequency modulation). The receiver receives this modulated RF signal with the aid of an RF receiver, which in turn emits the original data telegram to the decoder unit (s) after demodulation, which then provides the desired control signal for the machine to be controlled. The basic principle here is that the control commands may only be passed on to the machine if the address information obtained from the telegram matches the address information programmed in the remote control receiver.
As with, for example, the aforementioned DE-OS 38 13 820, each of the RF channels must be examined by the receiver to determine whether the own transmitter is transmitting there or not; this means that the receiver must always wait for the response from the telegram decoder before it can check the next channel during a channel search. This usually takes a very long time, since it can only be assumed after a certain period of time that the negative answer the telegram decoder is based on the fact that no telegram or a non-system telegram was received.
This takes a relatively long time, so that after a frequency change by the transmitter, a certain period of time passes until the receiver has "found" his channel again through the processes described and can snap onto it.
The object of the invention is to improve the previously known method so that the channel search processes are accelerated by the receiver.
According to the invention, this object is achieved by the characterizing part of patent claim 1.
The basic idea of the invention is that the Sqelch signal, which is usually available in the standard components from which RF receivers are constructed, is evaluated as quick information for initiating further switching operations. It is assumed that the Sqelch signal serves as general "occupancy information" of the RF channel currently set by the receiver, i.e. it provides the information as to whether this channel is occupied or not. This information is initially completely sufficient for many operating modes and switching operations to initiate the next procedural step, because if, for example, the Sqelch signal indicates that the channel is not occupied at all by radio frequency, then this cannot be an RF channel occupied by its own transmitter without an evaluation of the telegram address in the receiver.

- Figure 2:
- a flowchart of a first mode of operation "receiver seeks transmitter channel", and
- Figure 3:
- a flowchart of a second mode of operation "receiver seeks free channel".
The transmitter S shown in Figure 1 consists of the high-frequency transmission part HFS, the high-frequency channel can be selected by a programming logic P by the user.
The receiver R initially consists in a known manner of the actual receiving part HFR and the downstream telegram decoder DEC, the output signal S of which triggers the desired function of the controlled machine.
The Sqelch output of the receiving part HFR and the address output of the address decoder DEC are connected to a scanning circuit SCAN, which in turn can switch the receiving channel of the receiving unit HFR via a control line CH.
The basic function of the scanning circuit SCAN consists in the preferred evaluation of the squelch signal on the line SQ and only then in the evaluation of the information "address is correct" on the address feedback line ADR from the address decoder DEC.
If the Sqelch signal indicates that there is no high-frequency signal on the set receiving channel, the scanning circuit SCAN switches the channel over the control line CH by one channel if the circuit is to perform the function "receiver seeks the transmitter channel", or it initiates it Feedback information to the transmitter, if the receiver is to perform the function "Receiver seeks free channel", since the absence of the Sqelch signal signals the presence of a free channel.
These two exemplary operating modes using the scanning circuit SCAN and the evaluation of the Sqelch signal are shown in the two flowcharts outlined in FIGS. 2 and 3.
The two operating modes outlined in FIGS. 2 and 3 can also be used in combination in the same transmitter / receiver unit if simple additional circuitry means (for example a switch) ensure that the channel switching through the scanning circuit SCAN occurs once when the squelch is present. Signals (squelch level high), which is carried out another time when the squelch signal (squelch level low) is not present.
The operating mode according to FIG. 3 (receiver is looking for a free channel) can be implemented in different "comfort levels":
In the simplest case, the feedback information from the receiver to the transmitter consists in activating a display means (for example a lamp) in the transmitter which informs the operator of the transmitter whether the receiver has now found a free channel; then the operator must switch the transmitter by means of the channel selector until the transmitter has found the free channel defined by the receiver, which is determined by the address check in the receiver. In this case, the return information to the transmitter is then changed (for example the lamp is switched off) in such a way that the operator knows that the actual transmission mode (transmission of control commands) can now begin.
A much more comfortable, but also technically more complex version is to design the feedback information of the receiver to the transmitter so that the frequency of the channel determined as free (or a corresponding coded information) is also communicated to the transmitter and then the transmitter automatically the transmission channel according to this information.
The feedback to the "transmitter" can, for. B. done in that the transmitter is also equipped with a monitor RF receiving part, which searches for the feedback signal of the "receiver" by a scanner device, as described above, and engages thereon.
Both variants of the operating mode according to FIG. 3 naturally require more or less complex transmitter units at the receiver or receiver units at the transmitter in order to enable the feedback path.
