Definitions
- the invention relates to a multi-pole cable connector according to the preamble of claim 1.
- a cable connector is already known from a product from Vaudeha-Elektro GmbH, with the contact elements of the insulation displacement contact, the printed circuit board contact designed as a soldering lug and the plug contact part designed as a fork spring in one plane lie ( Figure 3).
- the contact elements can be manufactured inexpensively as simple stamped parts, but assembly is very complex because the circuit board connections are soldered and the cable cores can be replaced by additional devices such as e.g. Web of a lid part to be pressed into which slots of the insulation displacement contacts have to be pressed. In particular in the case of mass products such as connectors, the costs associated with such a high manufacturing outlay are generally not acceptable.
- the known cable connector can also only be realized with a printed circuit board, because the contact elements are mechanically attached to it by soldering the soldering lugs.
- a printed circuit board or a similar part must nevertheless be provided with this cable connector, to which the contact elements can be fastened.
- the invention is therefore based on the object of developing a multi-pole cable connector according to the preamble of claim 1 in such a way that, in the simplest and most cost-effective manner, low production outlay is achieved and the fixing of the contact elements is independent of the presence of the printed circuit board.
- the cable connector To assemble the cable connector, it is therefore only necessary to insert the end parts of the cable cores into the blind holes and to insert the contact elements with the insulation displacement contact into the adapted recesses of the contact carrier part transversely to the plug direction, the cable cores for contacting being automatically pressed into the slots of the insulation displacement contacts and at the same time the fork spring-like circuit board contact contacted the associated connection point on the circuit board.
- the resilient tabs of the circuit board contacts encompass the circuit board lying between them and thus additionally and without additional effort cause them to be held.
- An embodiment of the contact element according to claim 2 enables production as a one-piece stamped and bent part with minimal manufacturing costs.
- the projections provided in an embodiment according to claim 3 are pressed together with the plastic of the contact carrier part when the insulation displacement contacts are pressed into the corresponding recesses and thus ensure that the contact elements are permanently firmly seated without additional effort.
- the contact carrier part equipped with the contact elements can either be inserted into a prefabricated housing or overmolded. In the latter case, it is important that the injection molding compound cannot penetrate into the contact chambers via the blind holes and the recesses. This is advantageously achieved in a simple manner by a sealing lip according to claim 4, which is integrally formed in the transverse direction during manufacture of the contact carrier in the same work step, for example on the bottom surface in the entrance area of each recess.
- the plug-in cover part is integral with the plastic housing.
- the cover can be rotated relative to one another and therefore more (e.g. with square cover part four cable outlet directions offset by 90 ° to each other) can be selected.
- the cable connector is therefore even more adaptable to the needs of the individual case.
- FIGS. 1 and 2 show a longitudinal section through the cable connector and FIG. 2 shows a perspective view of a contact element.
- the multi-pole cable connector 1 which is designed as an angled plug, has a plastic housing 2 formed by extrusion coating with a cable entry socket 3 for receiving a cable 4 with four cable wires 6, each protected by an insulating jacket 5, and a contact area 7 with a square cross section, which is plug-in on the plug side Cover part 8 is closed.
- a contact carrier part 9 made of insulating material with a central pipe socket 10 is arranged in the contact area 7 of the plastic housing 2.
- this has a tubular central piece 11, which comprises the pipe socket 10 and, in the assembled state, engages with an annular latching bead 12 in an adapted annular latching groove 13 of the pipe socket 10.
- blind holes 15 are provided for receiving the non-stripped end parts 14 of the cable cores, which are penetrated in the transverse direction by slot-shaped recesses 16 of the contact carrier part 9.
- a printed circuit board 17 provided with conductor tracks and equipped with electrical and electro-optical components (not shown), which is penetrated by the pipe socket 10 of the contact carrier part 9 and rests on the end face of the central piece 11.
- the contact elements 18, 18 are stamped and bent parts. According to their purpose, two contact elements 18 are made in one piece (they are only suitable for the parallel connection of circuits or circuit components).
- a base section 19 of which an insulation displacement contact 22 having two legs 21 separated by a slot 20 and a fork spring-like circuit board contact 25 consisting of two tabs 23, 24 protrude approximately vertically and on which are offset laterally and perpendicular to the contacts 22, 25 , in the plane of the base section 19, a fork spring socket 26 for inserting a plug pin of a device connector, not shown, through recesses 8 ′ of the cover part 8 connects.
- the tab 23 is advantageously punched out of the tab 24 and pressed out.
- the fork spring bushing 26' on the one hand and the insulation displacement contact 22 and the printed circuit board contact 25 connected to it via part of the base section 19 on the other hand are separate parts between which circuits or circuit components can be inserted in series.
- the separation is expediently carried out in one operation during punching, the same parts being advantageously used as for the one-piece contact elements.
- the end parts 14 of the cable cores 6 are first inserted into the associated blind holes 15 and then the sdhneidklemmgifte 22 are pressed into the recesses 16.
- the insulation displacement contacts 22 cut through the insulating jacket 5 of the cable cores 6 and contact them.
- Ribs 27 on the side edges of the legs 21 are pressed together with the side walls of the recesses 16 and thus, in an extremely simple manner, ensure that the contact elements 18 or the insulation displacement and printed circuit board contacts 22, 25 of the contact elements 18 'are firmly seated.
- the circuit board contacts 25 are positioned during this insertion process.
- the tabs 23, 24 encompass the associated edge sections of the printed circuit board 17, hold them in their position and provide reliable contact with the pads intended therefor.
- a sealing lip 28 at each inlet opening of the recesses 16 ensures that no molding compound can penetrate into the contact chambers 29 via the blind hole during the molding process.
- the fork spring bushing 26 is arranged exactly at the correct position in the plug-in direction in accordance with the respective pin structure.
- soldering support points are provided on the printed circuit board 17 at which they can be electrically contacted and mechanically fastened at the same time by soldering their neck 30.
- the multi-pole cable connector according to the invention can also be used without a printed circuit board, since the fork spring bushings 26, like the entire contact elements 18, are arranged on the contact carrier part.
- a central screw 31 passing through the plastic housing 2 and the pipe socket 10 and the cover part 8 enables a firm connection to the device connector.
