Abstract

In the method for traffic surveillance and for promptly informing and warning road users, traffic states or road states which have been input or detected via means of sensors are displayed by means of light elements which are arranged spaced along the route of the road and can be actuated together or successively. As a result, continuous traffic information and, if appropriate, warning of traffic problems, are provided in real time. The surveillance and information system which serves for carrying out the method has one or more measurement points with traffic or load detection devices which act in each case essentially transversely with respect to the carriageway and at least two light elements which are spaced along the route of the road and at least one evaluation and control unit for evaluating detected traffic or road states and for actuating and activating the light elements which are coupled to one another. <IMAGE>
