- An ideal recovery system would be one where at any time and at any rate the volumes of gas and liquid transferred would be equal, defining a yield of 100%. In practice, this situation is difficult to achieve given the imperfections of the regulation, possible obstructions and leaks in the pipes and inevitable misadjustments.
- the object of the invention is to provide an apparatus and a method applying to the measurement of the performance of known “assisted” recovery systems where pumps and devices for regulating the gas flow. are inserted into the return chain of the gases, avoiding interfering with them.

- This pump 3 pressurizes the liquid 4 through a flexible channel 5 to a distributor gun 6 which contains openings 7 through which the volume of air, containing fuel vapor, and expelled from the tank by filling the vehicle tank.
- Another pump 8 with its regulating device is used for suction of the gas and for driving it through a channel 9 towards the tank 2 where it accumulates in its upper part 10 and replaces the volume of hydrocarbon distributed, this is avoided thus an air inlet through the safety vent.
- the invention provides that a tubular device 11 is placed in front of the vents 7 for vapor recovery.
- This tubular device 11 is provided with an opening 12 through which the tubular end 13 of the gun 6 can be slid, sealing, until an edge 14 of the opposite face of the tubular device 11 comes to bear on an edge 15 of a handle of the gun 6 while also making it watertight. It is recommended to provide edge 14 with one or more gaskets.
- a lateral tubular inlet 16 opening out inside the tubular device 11 allows a connection of a preferably flexible tube 17 connected to an outlet 18 of the gas meter 19.
- FIG. 3 illustrates another embodiment of the invention.
- this embodiment consists of the same elements as the embodiment described in Figure 2 and operates in a similar manner.
- the tubular device is not formed in one piece as shown in Figure 2 but consists of a tubular part 11a and two collars 11b and 11c provided with central openings.
- the collars 11b, 11c are attached to the tubular part 11a in a removable manner, preferably screwed.
- each collar 11b or 11c and the tubular part 11a there are two sealing washers 23a and 23b made of elastic material, preferably rubber.
- the washers 23a and 23b are supported by the collars 11b and 11c and are also provided with central openings.
- the internal diameters of the central openings of the washers 23a and 23b are naturally slightly smaller than the (external) diameters of the dispensing gun 6. This ensures that if the tubular device (11a, b, c and 23 a, b) is slid over the gun 6 said device remains well fixed and sealed on gun 6.
- All the elements (11a, b, c and 23a, b) of the tubular device are well known as standard plumbing articles, for example.
- the end 13 of the gun 6 is then free to perform a test by flow of fuel to a gauge for example or any other container (not shown here).
- the performance is checked by comparing the volume of air measured by the gas meter 19 and whose value is deduced from the indications carried on a display device 21 of the gas meter 19 and the volume of liquid delivered, determined by example by the content of the gauge.
- the tubular device 11 is slid by its opening 12 on the cylindrical end 13 of the gun 6 while sealing therein, while being pressed simultaneously on a seal 14, on the edge of a bellows 22.
- the gas sucked in through the vents 7 passes entirely through the tubular inlet 16 to which the gas meter 19 intended for the measurement is connected.
