Definitions
- the invention relates to an electrically conductive component, in particular an electrode element, a spark plug, an electrical feedthrough or a resistance element and a method for its production.
- Such conventional components consist of a ceramic insulator penetrated by an inner bore and a central electrode, the central electrode being fastened in the bore of the insulator with putty, adhesive, resin, etc.
- This has the disadvantage that the insulator-electrode connection has insufficient mechanical strength (torsion, pull-out values).
- Such connections also meet not the requirement regarding temperature resistance.
- the production is also very expensive because putty-smeared parts have to be cleaned and the waste water is contaminated with putty powder, which means that a sales basin is required.
- the object of the invention is to provide an inexpensive, electrically conductive component, in particular an electrode element, a spark plug, an electrical feedthrough or a resistance element, which meets the requirements with regard to mechanical strength and adjustability of its electrical parameters, in particular its resistance, and the temperature resistance Fulfills.
- the invention also provides a method for producing such a component.
- the electrically conductive component according to the invention is characterized in that the glass melt is formed from a pre-pressed and pre-sintered glass granulate part.
- the method according to the invention in which at least one bore is provided in the insulator and the two conductor parts are connected and fixedly arranged in the bore via a glass melt-in, is characterized in that a pre-pressed and pre-sintered glass granulate part is arranged between the conductor parts in the bore for the glass melt-in , the arrangement thus formed is heated approximately to the melting temperature of the glass granulate part, the conductor parts are pressed against one another, whereby an electrical contact is made between the conductor parts, and then the melted glass produced in this way is allowed to cool in the insulator.
- a particularly preferred embodiment of the method according to the invention is the subject of claim 7.
- the glass granulate part used for melting the glass can have different electrical conductivities.
- an ignition electrode device e.g. a spark plug
- an electrically highly conductive glass is generally used.
- an ignition electrode with a smooth bore is shown. It comprises an insulator 1, a two-part center electrode 2, 4 and a glass melt 3.
- the glass melt serves to electrically connect the two electrode parts to one another and to fasten them in the insulator 1 and is formed from a pre-pressed and pre-sintered glass granulate part.
- the distance between the two electrode parts 2, 4 can be varied. Depending on the size of the distance and the type of glass used (positive or negative temperature coefficient, specific resistance), different resistance values are obtained between the electrode parts 2, 4. In particular, the electrode parts can touch. In this case, the glass melt-in does not represent any resistance. You can also create a low-resistance passage ( ⁇ 100 m ⁇ ) by using highly conductive glass.
- high-resistance glass enables high-strength, high-voltage-resistant resistors with low inductance and, due to the precise metering options of the glass, low resistance scatter. In this way, ignition electrodes with interference suppression or erosion resistance can be produced. Typical values would be, for example 1 or 5 k ⁇ for 25 W continuous load ( ⁇ 2 mm connecting parts, ⁇ 6 mm ceramic tube outer diameter, ceramic length 50 mm). Both low-resistance and high-resistance ignition electrodes with interference suppression are used in oil and gas burners.

- FIG. 3 and 4 show special designs of the component according to the invention.
- the bore is provided with a shoulder 7 on which a conductor part provided with a wider head 8 at one end is brought to rest.
- the isolator in Fig. 4 has two conductor or Electrode bores 9, 10 with corresponding conductors.
- FIG. 5 shows a further special embodiment, in which a ceramic semiconductor 5 (resistor, varistor) is fused between the electrode parts 2, 4.
- a ceramic semiconductor 5 resistor, varistor
- FIG. 6 shows a resistance meltdown 6a of a steel jacket spark plug (fully shielded spark plug).
- the use of the sintered glass 3 replaces complex metering devices for powdered glass granulate.
- the method thus also offers advantages in the production of spark plugs, the center electrode of which consists of two parts (see FIG. 6).
- the conventional method for connecting these parts involves the melting of powdered glass granules.
- special measures must be taken to protect the insulating section, since the glass granulate can leave conductive traces.
- These protective measures can be dispensed with when using a pre-sintered, pre-pressed glass granulate part, since this hardly leaves any conductive traces on the insulator insulation section.
Abstract
Description
The invention relates to an electrically conductive component, in particular an electrode element, a spark plug, an electrical feedthrough or a resistance element and a method for its production.
Such conventional components consist of a ceramic insulator penetrated by an inner bore and a central electrode, the central electrode being fastened in the bore of the insulator with putty, adhesive, resin, etc. This has the disadvantage that the insulator-electrode connection has insufficient mechanical strength (torsion, pull-out values). Such connections also meet not the requirement regarding temperature resistance. The production is also very expensive because putty-smeared parts have to be cleaned and the waste water is contaminated with putty powder, which means that a sales basin is required.
The production of components of this type cannot be automated in this form and has low manufacturing reliability.
The object of the invention is to provide an inexpensive, electrically conductive component, in particular an electrode element, a spark plug, an electrical feedthrough or a resistance element, which meets the requirements with regard to mechanical strength and adjustability of its electrical parameters, in particular its resistance, and the temperature resistance Fulfills.
The invention also provides a method for producing such a component.
For this purpose, the electrically conductive component according to the invention is characterized in that the glass melt is formed from a pre-pressed and pre-sintered glass granulate part.
Further preferred embodiments of the invention are specified in
The method according to the invention, in which at least one bore is provided in the insulator and the two conductor parts are connected and fixedly arranged in the bore via a glass melt-in, is characterized in that a pre-pressed and pre-sintered glass granulate part is arranged between the conductor parts in the bore for the glass melt-in , the arrangement thus formed is heated approximately to the melting temperature of the glass granulate part, the conductor parts are pressed against one another, whereby an electrical contact is made between the conductor parts, and then the melted glass produced in this way is allowed to cool in the insulator.
Ein besonders bevorzugtes Ausführungsbeispiel des erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens ist Gegenstand des Patentanspruchs 7.A particularly preferred embodiment of the method according to the invention is the subject of
The glass granulate part used for melting the glass can have different electrical conductivities. For an ignition electrode device, e.g. a spark plug, an electrically highly conductive glass is generally used.
Through the use of low-resistance or high-resistance glass, it is also possible to provide an electrical resistance element between the two conductor parts if, when the two conductor parts are pressed mechanically against one another, a certain distance remains that is filled with glass granulate.

In Fig. 1, an ignition electrode with a smooth bore is shown. It comprises an

In all versions, it is advantageous to roughen the surface of the (metallic) electrode parts, to knurl them, to cord them, or to cut them off with burrs or to press them out of the way to get round. As a result, mechanical pull-out values, e.g. at

The use of the
Appropriate coordination of the materials used (metal adapted to the glass for the conductor or electrode parts in terms of thermal expansion) also enables electrical feedthroughs to be produced that are vacuum and pressure-tight up to 450 ° C.
